Overpowered Resident Doctor
Chapter 346 - 345: Famished
Yan Feifan had originally arranged to meet Zhao Xiaoting and the A-list celebrity, whose identity was still under wraps, at Baining Hospital at noon.
He planned to use a bit of his lunch break to give the celebrity a preliminary examination.
He just hadn’t expected to encounter such a heart-pounding incident, which had caused a significant delay.
After a brief word of explanation to Yu Youhai, he walked over to meet Zhao Xiaoting alone.
When they met, Yan Feifan was the first to apologize. "Sorry, I got held up at the airport. I’ve kept you waiting."
Blushing slightly, Zhao Xiaoting patted her chest and pouted. "As long as you’re here, Mr. Yan, and didn’t stand us up, waiting a little longer is no big deal."
Her eyes widened in anticipation. "Mr. Yan, so now...?"
Yan Feifan glanced at the luxury van behind her. "Let’s go. Time to see what’s going on with this big star..."
"That’s great!" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Zhao Xiaoting exclaimed excitedly, grabbing Yan Feifan’s arm and pulling him into a brisk walk toward the Mercedes luxury van.
Yan Feifan stepped into the spacious and lavishly decorated van. He sat down opposite a woman wearing a large surgical mask that covered everything but her eyes. Her long hair was tied back in a seemingly casual yet alluring style.
Based on her visible eyes and brows alone, Yan Feifan mentally cross-referenced a few female celebrities and recognized her in an instant.
Ding Xuan!
The Grand Slam-winning actress of China’s three major television awards.
Binhai Satellite TV was currently airing a highly talked-about drama she starred in about the professional lives of lawyers.
As they silently sized each other up, Ding Xuan was the first to speak.
"Mr. Yan, I’ve seen your masterful and admirable plastic surgery skills in what you did for Yang Susu and Chen Lingxin."
As she spoke, Ding Xuan handed over a thick file that was sitting beside her.
"Please forgive me, Mr. Yan, but you’ll have to sign a non-disclosure agreement before I can take off my mask for your examination."
Yan Feifan took the document and quickly flipped through it.
He found it was crammed with prohibitions and restrictions, along with breach of contract and penalty clauses.
In short, after signing this NDA, the most Yan Feifan could ever tell anyone was that he and Zhao Xiaoting had entered this luxury van and stayed for a while. He couldn’t reveal anything else.
If he leaked any information, Yan Feifan could be held liable for up to twenty million in damages, and they could also sue him for all sorts of other losses.
Yan Feifan felt a surge of anger as he read.
’Damn it, this is a completely one-sided, tyrannical contract.’
It even demanded he control what he said in his sleep.
His expression darkened, and he was tempted to throw the agreement down and leave the van.
However, out of the corner of his eye, Yan Feifan caught sight of Zhao Xiaoting in the back seat, her hands pressed together in a pleading gesture.
Yan Feifan picked up the pen and scribbled his name on the last page of the agreement.
’Ding Xuan, you just successfully multiplied your surgery fee by ten.’
With that thought, Yan Feifan handed the signed NDA back to her.
"Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Yan!"
Ding Xuan set the agreement aside and slowly removed the mask from her face with both hands.
A familiar yet strange, makeup-free face was revealed.
Looking at the dull, lusterless face, Yan Feifan’s gaze was immediately drawn to her nose.
The bridge was high, but it was too thin and prominent, like a steep mountain ridge, giving it an unnatural look.
That wasn’t even the worst part.
Her two alae—the wings of her nose—had no outward curve at all. They formed an acute triangle with the tip of her nose, at an angle of about thirty-five degrees.
It made her nose look like the pointy nose of a wicked witch from a foreign fairy tale—jarring and very fake.
Furthermore, Yan Feifan could still see several surgical scars on her nose that hadn’t fully faded.
"At the beginning of the year, my nose was severely injured during the filming of a TV show."
"I’ve had several surgeries, but the results got worse each time."
Ding Xuan stared at Yan Feifan and asked nervously, "Mr. Yan, can my nose be restored to look exactly like it did before?"
Yan Feifan didn’t answer directly. Instead, he raised his right hand and wiggled his five fingers slightly.
"May I?"
"Please, examine it as you wish!" Ding Xuan replied quickly.
Yan Feifan’s hand touched her nose, gently stroking and palpating it.
The situation was quite bad. The muscle tissue of the nasal bridge and alae had been almost completely destroyed.
The tip of her nose was a filler.
The nasal bone and septal cartilage were no longer original either...
A few minutes later, Yan Feifan withdrew his hand. "Ms. Ding, in your condition, it’s impossible to restore its original appearance by simply patching up the existing structure."
"The only way is to tear it down and completely rebuild it."
Ding Xuan asked apprehensively, "Mr. Yan, can you guarantee it will be a success?"
Yan Feifan shook his head. "Ms. Ding, I can’t offer a guarantee. I can only say that the probability of success is quite high."
Ding Xuan struggled internally for a moment before speaking again. "Mr. Yan, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but even an international superstar as big as Michael Jackson couldn’t get his nose fixed before he died."
"More than one plastic surgery expert has looked at my nose, and they all said there was nothing they could do."
Yan Feifan gave a faint, confident smile. "That’s because Michael Jackson never had the chance to meet me."
"Ms. Ding, you should think it over carefully."
Yan Feifan reiterated, "I cannot guarantee success."
"Also..."
Being blunt first to be fair later, Yan Feifan stated directly, "If you decide to have me perform this surgery, my fee will be extremely high."
"I have other surgeries to perform, so that’s all for today..."
Yan Feifan got out of the luxury van, but he had only taken a few steps before Zhao Xiaoting caught up to him and pressed a small brocade box into his hand.
"Mr. Yan, this is a thank-you gift."
Yan Feifan opened it and saw a crystal-clear jade Buddha pendant.
"Please pass on my thanks."
Zhao Xiaoting nodded. "Mr. Yan, when are you heading back to Binhai?"
"If you’re not busy tonight, can I treat you to dinner?"
Yan Feifan said softly, "I have to go back tonight."
With a look of regret, Zhao Xiaoting said, "Then I’ll treat you to dinner when I get back to Binhai..."
After parting with Zhao Xiaoting, Yan Feifan didn’t even have time to eat. He went straight into surgical preparations.
At Baining Hospital, the spinal tumor patients under the care of Neurosurgery Director Yu Guanglin, Deputy Director Yu Youbin, and Attending Physician Cao Hui, respectively, were also fully prepped for surgery.
Yan Feifan scrubbed in, entered the operating room, put on his surgical gown, performed the puncture injection on the patient’s spinal tumor, informed the chief surgeon of the waiting time, and marked the fenestration site for the surgery.
Then, he left that operating room, scrubbed in again, and entered the second one...
By the time he had gone through all three operating rooms, it was nearly four in the afternoon.
Having only had a few pieces of chocolate to sustain him, Yan Feifan was not only starving, but his arms had also been scrubbed so much they were pale and tender, with a faint, stinging pain.
Since he had to catch an evening flight, Yan Feifan politely declined Yu Youhai’s invitation for a quick working meal and got straight into a car heading for Shoudu Capital International Airport.
The vehicle was a very spacious Cadillac business van.
Yu Youhai’s personal driver was at the wheel, and the van drove very smoothly once it was on the highway.
Yan Feifan unfolded the car’s built-in desk and set down a takeout meal that Yu Youhai had specially prepared for him.
He had just arranged the food and was about to eat when the driver’s nervous voice suddenly came from the front.
"Mr. Yan, two military vehicles have us boxed in, one in front and one behind..."
