Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife
Chapter 2330 - 659: Her Prestige (Part 4)
Crack—A sound like tearing thunder, a blinding flash of white light split the night in half. The deep black night instantly became bright as day, and everyone was startled awake by the successive peals of thunder.
Gales raged, the trees battered by the great disaster trembled continuously in the wind. One bolt of thunder after another struck, white lightning crisscrossed the night sky, as if the world was about to collapse.
Crack—A muffled thunder exploded above everyone’s head, and a century-old tree in the distance suddenly started to smoke, snapping in half in an instant.
The tree fell to the ground with a "boom," emitting a cloud of black smoke.
Amidst the lightning and thunder, rain as big as beans fell from the sky. It quickly joined into a curtain of rain. Water smoke rose up from the earth.
An Yiqing was woken by the thunder, she comforted the young nurse with a few words, threw on a coat, and went to the doorway.
Torrential rain, smoke everywhere in the wind. Raindrops as big as beans pounded on the body painfully, and in just a moment, splashes rose from the ground. The thunder boomed with the gale, scattering the downpour in all directions. The temporary relief station, barely set up, was in imminent danger in the wind. Soldiers, awakened from their sleep, got up one after another, barring their chests in the rain, securing the new shelters of the disaster victims.
The soldiers in the tent were going in and out of the doorway, while An Yiqing, draped in clothing, stood in the corner, watching the raging storm outside with the disaster victims, as a sense of suffocation pervaded the air.
The Wind City, just struck by a huge disaster, how could it withstand such a violent storm? The ruins, just organized, collapsed once again, and the rescue work was forced to pause. Numerous temporary tents shook in the storm, many disaster victims, guarding their collapsed homes, wailed miserably in the rain.
An Yiqing squinted her watery eyes, staring intently into the distance. In an abandoned community over two thousand meters from the tent, two elderly people knelt in the storm, protecting their deceased daughter beneath them.
Unable to sit still any longer, An Yiqing tossed her coat to Xiao Ba and charged alone into the rain-curtain that filled the sky.
"Senior Sister!" Xiao Ba was startled and immediately followed. The young nurse called after the two of them for a long time, but could only watch helplessly as their figures disappeared into the vast rain-curtain.
When An Yiqing reached the elderly couple, she was already drenched. The rain as big as beans pounded her painfully, the storm brushed against her face as if small knives were slicing the delicate skin, burning and uncomfortable. Beads of water linked into lines slid down from her hair to her face. An Yiqing wiped the rain casually from her face and ran to the elderly couple.
"Grandpa, Grandma! Come with me to the relief station!" An Yiqing called loudly amidst the thunder and storm.
The elderly couple raised their heads, their eyes hollow as they looked at the suddenly appeared young girl. In their arms, they held their daughter, her body long cold.
Suddenly, An Yiqing felt a twinge in her nose, and tears welled up. The figures of the elderly couple overlapped with those of Old Master An and Old Lady An, the sorrow was unbearable for An Yiqing.
"Grandpa, Grandma, this sister cannot bear seeing you suffer this way. Will you come with me? There’s food and drink at the relief station, you’re injured and need treatment." An Yiqing shouted loudly.
The old man suddenly shook his head, muttering something in a low voice. An Yiqing saw clearly, he was saying, "I want to be with my daughter."
The rainwater stung as it flowed into her eyes, An Yiqing wiped her face, gritted her teeth, and pulled the daughter of the two elderly people upright.
"I’ll carry her on my back, Grandpa and Grandma, you come with me!"
An Yiqing carried the body on her back, looking at the two elderly people. The old man still seemed a bit bewildered, while the old woman, still rational, pulled her partner up from the ground.
"Senior Sister, let me do it!" Xiao Ba caught up, and his heart ached when he saw An Yiqing carrying a body on her back.
An Yiqing shook her head, "You support the two old people, be careful, don’t let them fall." With that, she adjusted the already stiff body on her shoulder and bowed her head into the wind and rain. Xiao Ba supported the two elderly people, quivering as they followed her. His eyes occasionally fell on the frail figure ahead, and Xiao Ba truly couldn’t understand where Senior An’s strength came from, carrying a body in the midst of the storm, striding forward alone.
An Yiqing moved quickly, she soon returned to the relief station. She asked for a stretcher and a white cloth, laid the body on the stretcher, and covered it with the white cloth. Xiao Ba then also came back, supporting the two elderly people; when the old man saw his daughter, he rushed over, holding the body and crying mournfully.
