Chapter 510: Chapter 510 The Others’ New Identities

"Get away from him, you homeworker!"

Avery sighed as he turned to look at Jasmine after her latest outburst.

Of course, the person her saw looked almost nothing like her, since she was wearing her disguise already.

Now, she had long red hair, and her normally distinct purple eyes had been covered up by blue contacts.

There was also something else that Avery noticed immediately.

Her style of dress was far flashier than what she usually wore.

Her top had a low cut and the skirt she was wearing hugged her legs tightly so that little was left up to the imagination.

Though, what stood out the most was her chest.

What Avery figured must have been the hardest working pushup bra in the galaxy was accentuating her breasts and making them look larger than normal. And he knew from personal experience that they were already pretty big.

"Jasmine, please tell me that this is your idea of a joke?"

"Jasmine? Who the hell is Jasmine?! How could you mix up my name with some other woman. Did you forget who I am?! It’s me, Ruby!"

Hearing her response, Avery realized that Jasmine was not going to break character so easily. It seemed that she wanted him to play along, so he figured that he would indulge her for a bit.

Fortunately, after another few minutes of acting out her new identity, Jasmine went back to normal.

"Ah, that was fun. It’s been too long since I’ve blown off some steam like this." Jasmine said, a satisfied smile on her currently disguised face.

"Is this really something that Cerise and the experts that she brought along came up with? Your persona doesn’t really seem suited for undercover work."

"I mean, I may have had a bit of input, but I think you’ll be surprised. My character will help to draw eyes away from everyone else. Plus, it’s pretty believable for a cargo ship captain like your fake identity to keep a clingy prostitute onboard. And I’ve actually got plenty of experience doing this already."

As it turned out, for some of her missions as the Alliance Police, Jasmine had ended up playing the part of a call girl to infiltrate certain criminal dens.

Of course, she never actually did anything, and by the time she had been invited over, it was already too late for the unsuspecting crocks.

"Okay but does your backstory really need to be so elaborate. I mean, you’re apparently an agent working for the gambling den I owe the most money to in order to drain me of what money I have left so that I default on my debt and they can take the intrepid that I put up for collateral." Avery said, a hint of exasperation in his voice.

"Again, I’m here to draw attention. If they look into me, it’s not a big deal. And any inconsistencies that they might find can be attributed to my shady background with an unlicensed gambling establishment. Having me around will also make your character seem more authentic. We want to be just right so that the Odium Syndicate wants to work with us, but also not threatening in anyway." Jasmine said wagging her finger towards Avery in an exaggerated manner.

Truthfully, he understood what she was getting at. As Ferdinand, he needed to seem competent enough to be useful, but not to the point that he might be considered a danger.

That’s why his character had been set up to be decent at his job as a cargo ship captain, but possessing several flaws that were holding him back.

"There’s one thing I’m worried about though. What if the Odium Syndicate really does look into "Ruby’s" past and finds out she’s an agent for some other organization. I might be told to get rid of you."

Jasmine nodded her head at Avery’s valid concern, and said, "Yep, that’s a possibility, and one that I’ve already accounted for. In that case, you just need to dump "Ruby" somewhere. I’ve got another backup identity that’s not too noticeable if that happens."

Avery felt relieved to hear that Jasmine already had a plan in mind for such a scenario. Though, he wished that she would have just picked something normal to begin with.

"Got it. What about Liesel? Is she planning on taking on the role of some ’interesting’ character as well?" Avery asked, hoping to avoid any more surprises.

"Nope. From what she told me, she doesn’t really want any limelight during this mission. Said she would just be a normal security officer and wear standard combat armor and a helmet whenever necessary. I mean, they’ll only be brief moments when any of us have to interact with people outside of the vessel, so not everyone needs and elaborate disguise."

"Yeah, that makes sense."

"Wait! Then why do the two of you even need such elaborate characters in the first place? Couldn’t the two of you just be regular crew members working on the ship?" Avery asked.

The two of them just looked away from Avery and started a conversation amongst themselves as if they had not heard what he had just said.

Judging by their reactions, being normal employees on the ship was obviously an option. It was largely their own desires to be playing more memorable roles while they were undercover.

Still, he did not expect either of them to act in a way to jeopardize the mission and he figured that if they were invested in their new identities, they would play their parts well.

"At least the other officers probably have more normal identities." Avery muttered.

Naturally, Kasandra and Jasmine picked up what he said even if it was under his breath.

Jasmine then whispered something to Kasandra and the two of them began grinning.

"What is it? Just tell me. I’m not in the mood for more surprises."

"Well, if you were shocked by mine of Kasandra’s characters, you’ll be stunned when you see what Ezra came up with. Never thought such a straight and narrow guy would go for something like that. I guess he really wants to blow off some steam." Jasmine said, looking amused as Avery rubbed his temples to stave off the headache that was building up.
