Although she was sleeping on a Simmons mattress, the bed itself was supported by a simple steel wire frame, leaving the area underneath completely empty.

Zhao Rong’s sleepiness vanished. Staring into the pitch-black space, he thought, The old sanitation worker said that if you fall asleep in the dead of night, a ghost will reach a hand out from under the bed. I wonder if that’s true.

Just as he was puzzling over this, sleep finally overcame him, and his eyes fluttered shut.

While Zhao Rong and the three beauties were all sound asleep and snoring, the assistant in the room next door was also fast asleep.

The assistant paid him no mind. He slammed the door shut, turned off the light, and locked it from the outside. Then, he ran to the room where Zhao Rong and the three women were staying and began knocking frantically.

The loud banging instantly woke Zhao Rong and the three beauties. Zhao Rong was the first to wake up. He sat up groggily and listened to the knocking. "Dammit," he muttered, "is this place really haunted? Why else would the assistant be banging on our door in the middle of the night..."

Miss Lili, jolted from her dream, screamed, "Help! There’s a ghost! The place is haunted!"

Terrified, Yu Lan dove under her covers and refused to come out. "Big Brother Zhao Rong, save me! There really is a ghost!"

Meanwhile, Beauty Xuelian quickly pulled out two cans of pepper spray and began spraying them wildly into the air. "This pepper spray is a Divine Artifact!" she declared. "It scares away demons and monsters, so ghosts must be afraid of it too!"

Just then, Zhao Rong turned on the light and let the assistant in. The man stumbled inside, his face pale with fright and his forehead drenched in a cold sweat. "Big Brother Zhao Rong," he stammered, "this hotel... it’s really haunted! I just saw it with my own eyes!"

He then described it to Zhao Rong and the three women: a ghostly hand slowly extending from under his bed.

Upon hearing the assistant’s story, the three women scrambled over to Zhao Rong in terror. "Big Brother Zhao Rong, what do we do? This hotel really is haunted!"

Zhao Rong comforted them, "Even if the hotel is haunted, the ghost hasn’t hurt anyone, and it certainly doesn’t eat people. Look, the assistant just got his foot tickled by a ghost, but he’s perfectly fine, completely unharmed."

With that, Zhao Rong turned to the assistant. "Since your room is haunted, let’s switch. I’ll stay in your room, on your bed. You stay here with the three ladies and protect them."

When the women heard that Zhao Rong was going next door to catch a ghost and leaving the assistant with them, they immediately objected. "Big Brother Zhao Rong, how can you leave the assistant in a room with us? That guy is a coward! He’s scared to death of ghosts. How can he protect us?"
