Xuelian, visibly shaken, said, "Zhao Rong, do you think the ten drops of blood I have left will be enough to get us through this level? If they are, then you can all hide behind me, and I’ll fight the boss. After all, I still have more blood than most of you."

Compared to everyone else, Zhao Rong had only half a drop of blood remaining. Because he had always been the one to charge ahead and protect the group, his blood had been depleted the fastest. At this point, if Zhao Rong so much as tripped and fell, he would lose that last half-drop of blood. He would die instantly, disappearing from the world of this dinosaur game for good.

Just as everyone was preparing to risk their lives to charge the final level, Zhao Rong held up a hand and shared what was on his mind. He led everyone to hide behind a safe thicket of bushes before speaking.

"None of us has much blood left," he began. "I have half a drop, my assistant has one, Miss Lili has nine, Xuelian has ten, and Yu Lan has twenty. If we risk our lives to brute-force this final level, it’s very likely some of us will die."

Hearing this, the assistant stepped forward and asked fearfully, "Then what do we do, Zhao Rong? We can’t just stay in this dinosaur game forever because we’re afraid of dying, can we?"

Miss Lili gazed at the nearby dinosaurs and the villains lurking in the distance. "If the alternative is living in this world of constant danger and crisis," she said in anguish, "I would rather die than cower like this."

Yu Lan went even further, pulling a small knife from her waist. She licked the blade and declared fiercely, "Zhao Rong, I’m ready to fight, even if it costs me the very last drop of blood in my body."

Xuelian tossed aside her empty submachine gun, pulled two cans of pepper spray from her pocket, and added, "Even if all I have are these two cans of pepper spray, I’m going to clear this final level."

Seeing their spirited determination, Zhao Rong clarified, "You’ve all misunderstood me. I’m not suggesting we give up and live in this dinosaur world forever. My goal is for all of us to get out of this game alive."

The assistant, still confused, asked, "Zhao Rong, if you want to lead us out of the game, then why not risk it all and charge the final level?"

Zhao Rong explained, "If I lead you to charge the final level, some of us will die. What I have to do now is ensure every single one of you gets out of this game safe and sound."

"But if we don’t clear the final level, we can’t get out of the game at all," Miss Lili pointed out, not understanding.

Yu Lan also questioned him. "Zhao Rong, didn’t you say we can only leave after beating the game?"

"If beating the game is the only way out, then why are we wasting time here? Let’s go!" Xuelian urged.

Before the women could say more, Zhao Rong pulled a game converter out of his pocket. "The best plan right now," he announced, "is for someone who is extremely good at games to use this to leave the game world, return to the real world, and beat the final boss from a game console. That person can then pull everyone else out."

As he spoke, he held up the device for them to see. When the assistant and the three women saw the game converter in Zhao Rong’s hand, they asked with curiosity, "Zhao Rong, what is that thing? Can all five of us use it to get back to the real world?"

Zhao Rong shook his head. "This game converter can only send one person back to the real world. Furthermore, that person must win the game to stay in the real world permanently. If they lose, not only will they be sent back into this game, but everyone still inside will die."

Hearing this, the assistant and the three women looked at one another before speaking with a sliver of hope. "Who among us is the best at games, especially Dinosaur World? Step up! Use the converter to get back to the real world! Otherwise, we’re just waiting here to die."

Miss Lili looked at the assistant. "You’re a man, and you look like the type who skipped school all the time to hang out in arcades. You must be good at games. You should use the converter, win the game, and save us all."

Yu Lan was less confident in the assistant. "We should let Zhao Rong go," she said, looking at him. "If we send this good-for-nothing, he’ll definitely lose. Then he’ll just end up back here with us, and we’ll all be doomed."

Xuelian agreed. "Yu Lan is right. The assistant is useless at everything. If we let him play, we’re signing our death warrants. We have to send Zhao Rong. I vote for Zhao Rong. Who do you all choose?"

Zhao Rong nodded, then activated the game converter and returned to the real world.
