Chapter 559: Chapter 520: Slaying a Monster

Having vanquished the Loch Ness monster, Zhao Rong and his companions continued their journey on the small boat. Along the way, they were extremely nervous, worried about encountering the next obstacle.

The middle-aged man pointed to a bend up ahead. "That’s the last dangerous place. Once we pass that bend, we’ll be right at our bosses’ hideout."

The assistant looked at the glowing spot not far away and asked in surprise, "This Underground Dark River is completely dark. Why is there a bright light at that bend?"

Lili asked worriedly, "Could there be another monster at that bend?"

Yu Lan said nervously, "We’ve already run into all sorts of creatures in this river. If we find another one at that bend, we’re really in for it..."

Xue Lianmei, ever ready for battle, added, "Even if we encounter another terrifying monster, I won’t be afraid. I won’t even worry, because Zhao Rong is here to protect us..."

Curious, Zhao Rong turned to the middle-aged man. "Sir, what kind of monster is at that bend? Do you know?"

The middle-aged man turned on his phone, found a picture, and showed it to Zhao Rong. "Sir, the monster at the bend looks like this. I don’t know its exact name..."

Hearing this, Zhao Rong gasped and cursed under his breath, "Damn it. As expected, there’s another monster..."

With that, he carefully studied the image on the man’s phone. The creature was peculiar; it didn’t quite look like a dinosaur, nor did it resemble a lizard.

Just then, the assistant and the three women came over. They crowded around to see the picture, speculating wildly.

"Damn, why does this monster look so similar to the Loch Ness monster we fought before? Don’t tell me we killed one just for another to appear?"

The assistant said reflectively, "Why are there so many monsters in this Underground Dark River? Could it be polluted or affected by some kind of radiation?"

Lili mused, "Kill one monster, and thousands more appear. In this Underground Dark River, I say let them come at us even more fiercely..."

Yu Lan sighed helplessly. "It seems Zhao Rong will have to wield his Dharma Sword again to slay another beast..."

Xue Lianmei was even more excited. "No matter how strong or terrifying the monsters are, they’re as weak as lab rats before Zhao Rong, always just specimens for him to test!"

Suddenly, Zhao Rong remembered a monster from a movie he had seen. He exclaimed to the man, "I remember now! This monster is called an Underground Salamander!"

Hearing ’Underground Salamander,’ the assistant paled. "Underground Salamanders are ancient creatures that have long been extinct! How could one appear in this Underground Dark River?"

Lili pictured the creature and said, "This monster must be some kind of ancient, terrifying lizard that hasn’t finished evolving..."

Yu Lan, somewhat frightened, said, "I’ve heard that Underground Salamanders can breathe fire. What will we do if we turn the corner and get blasted by flames?"

Xue Lianmei took five fireproof suits out of her bag. "Luckily, I was prepared. One for each of us. Let’s put them on quickly. That way, we won’t be scared if the salamander breathes fire at us."

Seeing that Xue Lianmei had thought so far ahead, Lili praised her. "Xue Lianmei, you’re so thoughtful! Without these suits, we’d have no idea how to deal with a fire-breathing salamander."

The assistant was even more grateful. "Xue Lianmei, with this fireproof suit you gave me, I don’t have to worry about getting my face burned off. After all, I’m not married yet, and if I were disfigured, it would be really hard to find a wife..."

After Yu Lan put on her suit, she remarked, "Xue Lianmei, this fits perfectly! Did you have it custom-made for me?"

Xue Lianmei, opening the Shopping Spree app on her phone, laughed. "Don’t thank me. I bought them on Shopping Spree. They were super cheap."

Hearing this, the assistant asked curiously, "By the way, Xue Lianmei, how much did you pay for these?"

The assistant was in disbelief. "Nine-point-nine for a fireproof suit? Isn’t that a little too cheap?"

Stunned, the assistant touched the suit he was wearing as cold sweat dripped down his forehead. "A suit this cheap has to be a counterfeit, right? If it is, and it can’t withstand the flames from the salamander’s mouth, we’re going to pay a heavy price..."

Lili also rubbed the material of her suit, her voice laced with doubt. "You get what you pay for. Can a suit this cheap really withstand a massive, scorching fireball?"

Yu Lan then took a lighter from her pocket to test the suit she was wearing. She wasn’t prepared for what happened next. The moment she touched the flame to the fabric, the suit immediately began to burn, and the fire spread swiftly.

When Zhao Rong saw that the suit Yu Lan was wearing was so flammable, he hurriedly pulled a fire extinguisher from his Magic Ring and sprayed her wildly, finally extinguishing the flames.
