Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 150 - 140: System Point Allocation
On the parchment-textured system panel, Levi’s Four-dimensional Attributes, Skill Attributes, and Weapon Proficiency were recorded.
But at this very moment, the Weapon Proficiency column had an additional entry: "Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual: 1."
Levi stared intently at the panel, his hands trembling slightly.
As a devout disciple of the Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect, whenever he played games, he was always the first to lead by example and uphold the sect’s tenets. When he first brought the Conquering System to this world, he had fantasized that the import/export functions and cheat commands had come along with it.
So, he had studied the system carefully. Unfortunately, reality proved that things were never that good. Not having to start with Militia Attributes was already a blessing.
However, this also meant he knew the system’s rules like the back of his hand.
Every time he leveled up, he would get one Free Attribute point, two Free Skill Points, and fifty proficiency points.
And through training, he could also increase his Attributes and Weapon Proficiency.
In practice, there was no difference between these two methods. It was just that gaining Power by leveling up and allocating points was easier; with the second method, the higher his values became, the more difficult it was to improve through combat and training.
To maximize his gains, Levi had been saving his Attribute Points and proficiency points. He planned to use them to push himself even further, but only after he could no longer improve his Attributes through training.
Recently, Levi could clearly feel his Martial Arts had hit a bottleneck. Despite not slacking on his daily training since arriving in the Wilderness and having endured numerous hard-fought battles, his Attributes and proficiency had barely increased.
He had originally planned to save them until he headed south next year, but it seemed he couldn’t hold onto them any longer.
The same logic of saving points for a breakthrough should have applied to the Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual, but Levi was like a loaded gun, completely unable to contain his burning excitement.
"The greatest Holy Knight in history begins his evolution!"
Grinning, Levi mashed his finger on the plus sign next to "Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual."
His accumulated free proficiency points vanished like spring snow, as if they cost nothing. His proficiency began to increase, and the warm current inside his body rapidly swelled in response.
Levi felt as if he were basking under a warm sun, a sensation that grew hotter as the process continued.
One hundred was the proficiency threshold for a qualitative change. Once he crossed it, the warm current flowing through his body began to gather in his lower abdomen, coalescing into a soybean-sized ball of light.
Like a miniature sun, it constantly shone with a brilliance that illuminated his entire body.
This was the Holy Light Seed. Once successfully formed, it would continuously generate Holy Light, tempering its owner’s body until it reached the limit of its current stage.
From cultivating the first warm current, to allocating points, to now forming the Holy Light Seed and reaching the entry-level of the Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual’s Tier One, "Firefly"—all told, the Lord had spent less than an hour.
If word got out, no one would believe it; they would just assume he had gone mad.
After all, even the legendary Holy Knight Diaylot took three days to reach the entry-level, and a full Circulation to advance to "Firefly."
To think of reaching the "Firefly" tier in a single hour was pure fantasy.
The Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual’s glory days may have been long gone, leaving it a fallen discipline, but it wasn’t some cheap whore you could have for two copper coins.
The improvements from the Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual weren’t instantaneous. After entering the "Firefly" tier, achieving the promised twofold physical enhancement required time for the Holy Light to temper the body.
This stage could generally be completed within a month.
So even now as a "Firefly" Holy Knight, the Lord’s Power hadn’t seen any substantial increase. Still, it would be impossible to say nothing had changed.
Levi looked down at his body. The Radiant Holy Word Treasure Manual did more than just increase physical strength; the Holy Light it produced was a form of Elemental Energy, equivalent to Combat Qi and Magic Power.
Though he hadn’t yet cultivated any Holy Light Divine Skills, making him like a Mage with a full mana bar but no skills, it didn’t stop him from mobilizing the Holy Light within his body.
At his command, the Holy Light contained within the Holy Light Seed gushed out, covering the Lord’s entire body in an instant.
"Holy shit, the Holy Light is shining upon me!"
The night was overcast, leaving the Wilderness as black as ink. Being a cash-strapped Lord, he had only a single oil lamp lit in his room, providing just enough light to make out shapes.
But now, the Lord was like a giant light bulb, emitting a warm golden glow that illuminated the entire room as bright as day. It was flashy as hell.
The utterly ecstatic Lord could no longer contain his urge to show off. He threw open the door and ran toward Baisitina’s room nearby.
He was planning to knock on her door, affect a pensive look, and say, "Tina, I’m not sure what’s going on... why is everything suddenly so bright?"
But just as he reached her door, the golden light around him began to flicker unsteadily. Then, with a soft FIZZ... it died.
"Damn it!" the Lord cursed under his breath.
He was only at the "Firefly" tier. As the name suggested, his Holy Light was like a firefly’s glow—he couldn’t expect it to last for long.
Besides, being able to envelop his entire body in Holy Light and run around with it just after entering the "Firefly" stage was a feat only the Lord could have managed.
"Hiss."
With the golden light gone, his eyes hadn’t adjusted. The Lord found himself plunged into a darkness so profound he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face.
OOOOOOooooo!
The sound from the depths of the Wilderness, carried on the cold wind, sounded like the wailing of ghosts and howling of wolves. The Lord scrambled back to his room, slammed the door shut, and dove under his covers.
You wouldn’t think it from the way he could kill without batting an eye, but that was just habit. In two lifetimes, he had never encountered anything like a ghost.
Not to mention, it was entirely possible that they were real in this world, which naturally left him a little spooked.
’Though, if I ever get to slay one or two, I’m sure I won’t be afraid anymore. After all, the only way to conquer fear is to face it.’
Huddled under the covers, Levi added another hundred proficiency points to the "Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual," bringing it to two hundred. Then the plus sign disappeared.
Levi knew this meant he had reached the limit for the first stage. To keep adding points, he would need to obtain the next part of the cultivation method.
The effect of spending another hundred proficiency points was immediately apparent: the Holy Light Seed had grown at least two to three times larger.
Both its Holy Light storage capacity and recovery speed were now much greater.
’Besides the next part of the cultivation method, I need to figure out a way to learn those Holy Light Divine Skills,’ Levi pondered to himself.
’Holy Knights aren’t just physically powerful. Divine Magic like Holy Shield Technique, Holy Light Punishment, and Light Healing are all incredibly strong.’
’Without those Divine Magic, this Holy Light in my body is only good for seeing at night without a candle or oil lamp. It just makes me a human light bulb.’
The Lord was struck by a thought. ’Since the Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual can appear in the proficiency list and have points added to it...’
’...then couldn’t those Divine Magic also show up in the Skills list for me to add points to?’
’If that’s possible,’ Levi thought, puffing his chest out, ’then I’ll be the fastest-advancing Holy Knight in history, bar none!’
