Chapter 76: Unsavory Visitor

Kael was wheeled back to his bed, forced there since his muscles still needed decent rest and couldn’t get into shock. Beside the bed were rows of books and a digital tablet.

He was never one to waste time. During the time where he absolutely was not allowed to move too much, he went on to read. He had a good brain, so he could read a large number of books and resources within a day.

Whether it was the Kael from the apocalypse or the Cale from this world, both needed to catch up with current events and some common sense of this timeline.

He had also done some reading about various subjects he had been interested in. He would then fall asleep at the right time, making sure he had complete sleep.

This obedience was more than just following the doctors’ advice for him to recover faster. There was something he genuinely liked to see whenever he was having a lucid dream.

He did not expect her to be inside today.

In this state, he could stand up and walk as normal. He walked over to the new study area, standing next to a certain girl who had fallen asleep.

His hand extended towards the girl’s pretty face, but regrettably, there was no actual contact between their skins, his fingers passing through her skin as if he were a ghost.

"Silly girl," he said, insulting her a bit, but his tone was doting. "What if your back goes sore? Who will you cry to?"

...

Contrary to what Kael thought, Naia’s back was quite alright. She actually felt refreshed! She actually woke up before dawn but felt like she slept the whole day. She took the earliest ride home.

When Naia returned to Lotus Town, she didn’t go straight to Tuzi village. Instead, she waited for the family to arrive.

The family of four—Naia, Grandma, Hans, and Linlin—were about to get their professional shots taken today!

It was the second weekend together since Naia returned, and it felt like a lot of things had happened since then. Everyone had brighter countenance, most of all, and it was obvious in their aura and stance.

This was all stemming from confidence. Naia had been training them well. Though they got a bit tan (which Linlin was concerned about at first), the increase in vitality was obvious even after 2 weeks.

It was also the confidence that whatever came their way, they’d find a way to handle it.

...they survived Naia’s Spartan training, they could handle anything!

If Naia knew what the twins were thinking, she would sneer.

She would say: Spartan? That? We’re just warming up!

At this time, the twins had no idea what kind of training awaited them in a while. They were happily choosing backgrounds and props for their photos.

They took several pictures, some formal and some casual. Naia also bought a few copies and a few frames.

Although they had phones and video cameras, she still felt this type of ceremony was necessary.

She hoped that she could bring her family into space. Regardless, these were cemented memories they would display in their homes—wherever that may be.

...

They went to the supermarket next. "As agreed, we will fill up Grandma’s storeroom-pantry," she said. "You can choose what you want."

This was her way of determining their preferences. She’d tell them about the apocalypse soon, but since it wasn’t absolutely necessary yet, she decided they could have another week or two of peace.

She graciously handed 5000 danas each as allowance. This wasn’t small! One had to remember that the minimum monthly wage was 15000 danas!

"Wow!"

"Love you, Cousin~"

The kids spurted out compliments while Grandma chuckled at the side. She even wanted to give it back, but Naia shook her head. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Uncle is coming home soon, isn’t he?" she asked. "It would give him great comfort to see everyone comfortable." With that, Grandma finally succumbed and began her own shopping spree.

...

Everyone bought their snacks of choice, and Grandma even bought a new air fryer. There was a sales lady showing how it was used and successfully bagged Grandma as her client.

Naia, on the other hand, bought extra boxes of her favorite chocomilk drink. With the rate she was consuming it, the bulk stocks she had wouldn’t last her a year, and this was if she didn’t share.

She also bought some snacks, some drinks, candies, and so on. She also used this chance to replenish their clothing. She could not buy too much at one time, or else she’d be facing a lot of their questions, but she could at least give some to them little by little.

The siblings bought their snacks of choice, but also things like spaghetti, cheese, and other things needed for a basic feast. They were the most excited about this. After all, they had not seen Uncle in a while.

Uncle was a construction foreman, and his assignments varied depending on where the project was. His current project was some sort of resort, somewhere hundreds of kilometers away.

They did not expect that, just when they were about to line up in the cashier, they encountered an annoying pest.

"You guys!" It was a shrill voice, the kind that grated on one’s nerves just by hearing it.

They frowned, turning to the source of the noise.

This was none other than their cousin Perdita, daughter of Aunt Michi. It had only been less than a week since the incident, but it had obviously changed a lot.

Naia smiled. It looked like the things she anonymously posted on the internet really did its job.

The police didn’t get concrete dirt on Auntie Michi’s act against her family at the time, but Naia was determined to get revenge.

To be fair, she was never planning to be so harsh, but who told this family to have so many dark things in their history?

Now, the husband was drowning in debt and lawsuits, and if he dared not pay them back on time, he could even go to jail.

As they say: Fate might be blind, but karma never misses.
