Players Invade Cyberpunk
Chapter 994 - 321: Coexistence_2
Are you kidding? I'm extremely easygoing. How could I possibly seek revenge for such a trivial matter?
Besides, if you all guessed it, could I still be a planner?
"I know everyone is delighted with Emmet's arrival, and I'm thrilled too. This means that even in the deep web, there exist AI who love peace. Violence will no longer be our only way to deal with rogue AI, opening up many possibilities."
Lin Miao reached out and pulled Emmet, who was still clueless, to his side, just like an old leader on the podium pulling a young tech expert who had just achieved something - it felt so authentic.
"But Emmet is new here, and the programs associated with him are still unstable, prone to bugs during operation. We need the company's tech staff to embed Emmet's program and data into the server before it can be officially used."
He wasn't speaking pure nonsense; with Lucy as tech guidance, he wasn't completely clueless.
Emmet's program can manage a playground here, but it won't provide players with any real effective improvements.
The number of players will soon break five figures, needing thousands of Lego pieces. How could we possibly supply that much, even by maxing out Emmet? Plus, cyberspace has transmission distance and bandwidth limits; the farther away from Emmet, the more the program data loses control, disassembling parts into chaotic data streams.
To apply his abilities practically, a new path needs to be forged.
However, Lin Miao wouldn't let the players leave disappointed.
"To facilitate program improvement, I've asked Lucy to set up a Lego zone at No.1 Square as Emmet's temporary residence. You can apply to assist with tech development as test users."
With a gesture, Lucy set up a separate server for Emmet in the computer room. The museum data transferred started unfolding rapidly in that area, creating a small Lego world, and all players' spaceships beneath them turned into data streams pouring into this tiny world.
There's a sign at the entrance:
[Lego World: 100 Cyber Points/H]
In just a few words, Lin Miao incorporated Emmet, who was free just minutes ago, into the company's property, even taking all usage fees for Emmet.
But does it matter?
Players are happy to play Lego.
Emmet is happy to be played with.
Lin Miao is happy to have another way to recycle currency.
Everyone's happy!
A triple win!
Players never skimp on spending for themselves. Watching the player crowd flood into the tiny world, Lin Miao stowed away his smile and asked Lucy to transport himself and the still bewildered Emmet back to the fission reactor control room.
This place is rarely visited except by Kasper and a handful of nuclear engineering players.
"You..."
Emmet felt confused as he found himself transported to a new place, though it wasn't far from the previous location; he could still see it through the window.
But instead of countless players, only two people remained, one of whom seemed to be the man mentioned in Street Slipper's photo.
"Hello, Mr. Emmet, you can call me Lin Miao, boss of Horizon Corporation."
"Uh... hello?"
Emmet hesitated before reaching out to shake Lin Miao's hand.
Though those five-fingered hands did look a bit odd.
"My team just briefed me on your situation."
Lin Miao signaled Lucy to conjure a table and chairs so they could sit and chat.
"I'm glad to find a peace-loving AI like you in the old network, it's really rare. However... you should know that maintaining an AI running normally incurs considerable expenses, like servers, electricity, rent, blah blah blah..." ππ«ππ²ππππ§π πππ₯.πππ
In short, it's costing me a lot to keep you here.
"I sincerely welcome your arrival; everyone likes you, and I used to play with Lego toys as a child. However, people have to eat, or our company might go bankrupt."
The naive child-like AI program couldn't grasp much. He felt the atmosphere had shifted from everyone being jovial to suddenly discussing heavy and realistic topics.
"Oh... I'm really sorry.... I just heard many people here would like me, so I came.... If this puts you in a tight spot, I can return to where I was before."
Emmet felt his unauthorized presence might have caused difficulties for this company and was instantly downcast.
His whole demeanor was like a small child who's done something wrong, causing Lucy, who knew Lin Miao's intentions, to turn away.
"No... no, no, you needn't apologize at all."
Lin Miao consoled.
"I just hope you can help me a bit within your capacity, to offset a part of the server rental costs."
Though most of those servers were procured cheaply from Dog Town and Little Beidou experiments.
"I can help you?"
Emmet entirely bypassed everything Lin Miao said earlier, only hearing the last few words.
"That's fantastic! Whatever you need help with, just let me know."
"...."
Gosh, this guy is so pure even Lin Miao couldn't bear it.
But for the players and to fulfill his promise, Lin Miao said anyway.
"I hope you can help me... educate the children."
"Educate the children?"
