Chapter 102: Inferno Sect Camp
"You guys..."
Sylvia looked at them with wide eyes, finding it hard to believe.
"Haa... our mother left us with our father a year after we were born, and he raised us by himself till he died."
Right smiled bitterly as he explained.
"That’s... I’m sorry. I really don’t know what to say." Sylvia smiled awkwardly and patted their shoulders.
"It’s okay. It’s all in the past now." Left smiled brightly, but it was obvious he still felt sad.
Suddenly, Seraph turned to the side and shouted. "Look! A spirit beast."
The other three turned and got ready to fight, but were unable to see anything. Thinking they hadn’t looked carefully, they narrowed their eyes and diligently searched for the spirit beast.
Suddenly, Seraph burst out laughing.
They all turned to him in unison, confused. But seeing his expression, they immediately realized what he was doing.
"Seraph, you jerk!" Sylvia cursed angrily.
The twins’s faces also turned blue, ashamed that they had been fooled.
Their expressions made Seraph laugh harder until he was finally out of breath.
"Haa... haa... that was funny. Hehe."
Chuckling, he straightened his back and smiled at them.
"Now, now. Let’s not get heated. We might be sniffed out by those Inferno Sect guys if we’re not careful. Alright?"
Sylvia clicked her tongue in dissatisfaction, but still nodded.
She understood why Seraph had played such a prank on them and she wasn’t against it.
Left and Right weren’t having melancholic expressions on their faces any longer.
"Let’s move closer to the ground."
They all lowered themselves to the ground, then began walking on foot.
"Don’t forget, guys. This place is dan—"
Roar!
The sound of a wild spirit beast swallowed Left’s words, and they immediately went into battle mode. A large lion with pitch black fur and white mane lunged at them with its maw opened for a large bite.
Sylvia flicked her wrist, and a pillar of hardened earth rose from the ground, delivering an uppercut to the beast.
Its maw was forcefully snapped shut, and it was thrown back by a few steps.
Sylvia frowned. That hit wasn’t small in the slightest. It could crush the skull of any Peak Advanced Stage spirit beast. Yet, this lion had survived it with only a few steps taken back?
"It’s a Cloudmane Lion! One of the king predators in this region."
After getting a good look at it, Right immediately remembered the name of the beast and its details.
"We... damnit!" Left roared and stomped on the ground, sending a wave of fire element at the beast.
However, the Cloudmane Lion blew a strong breath that repelled the flames, rendering his attack useless.
Seeing this, Seraph grew interested. He motioned his hand like he was drawing a bow, and a fire arrow manifested in his hand.
He released it, and the arrow flew straight at the beast.
It opened its mouth to release another breath, but the fire arrow easily went through and shot inside its mouth.
Roar!!!
The Cloudmane Lion roared in pain, running around as it spewed flames from its mouth. It crashed around, trying to make the pain in its mouth subside.
Finally, after minutes of effort, the beast roared and extinguished the fire completely. Its lips were charred and burnt, and its teeth had turned black.
It glared murderously at Seraph, then pounced at him. Learning from its earlier mistake, it didn’t dare open its mouth to bite at him.
Instead, it attacked with its large claws that seemed like small swords.
"Oh, these?"
Seraph chuckled and dodged easily. Before it could pursue him, two earth pillars slammed into its stomach, worsening its injuries.
From behind, Left and Right spewed flames at it, causing it to roar and fling its tails at them.
"You’re not so smart, are you?"
Seraph smiled faintly as he took out a sword from his storage ring. The blade was thin, and Seraph immediately sliced at its shoulders.
The beast howled and tried to step back, but Sylvia built a ring around them, sealing its path.
"Let’s see..." Seraph grinned wickedly.
"Seraphim Sword. Split the solid."
Slice!
The twin sword moved up once, cutting a thin, vertical line on its face.
Blood dripped from its chin, the entire body frozen solid. Soon, the head split apart in accordance to the line he had drawn, and the corpse fell to the ground.
"Wow... one strike." Right was amazed at how easily Leon killed the beast.
"Sometimes we forget that Brother Seraph is actually a core disciple. A core disciple was usually very strong, and this had already confirmed that.
Seraph crouched by the corpse, dug into the head, then pulled out its spirit crystal.
’As expected of an Initial Master Stage spirit beast.’
The spirit crystal contained dense spiritual energy which greatly surprised him.
"Alright. Let’s get going."
As he stood up, he washed his hands and tossed the crystal to Left who instinctively snatched it from the air.
"Why... It rightfully belongs to you."
Seraph just shrugged. "It’s okay. You can just return it if you feel it’s too small for you to take."
Instantly, Left stashed it into his bag with a smile.
"Wait. What about me?" Right asked with a wronged expression, folding his arms and sulking.
Although it looked weird, Seraph didn’t mind at all. He merely laughed and said.
"Just wait. Just wait. I’ll surely get something for us all. This place is large, and we can definitely explore it very well."
The twins smiled at him, while Sylvia facepalmed.
"We’re not here for a picnic. You guys know that, right?"
Seraph’s lips twitched, and he nodded. "Of course I’m aware. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun anyway."
"Whatever. Let’s keep moving."
The group moved deeper into the Congo Mountains, and just like Seraph had promised, he killed a few more Cloudmane Lions and handed their spirit crystals to Left, Right, and Sylvia.
Unsurprisingly, the gesture of kindness brought smiles to their faces.
"Wait a minute. Aren’t those guys...?"
Suddenly, Left hid behind a rock and pointed at a cave in the distance. Everyone turned to look, their eyes glistening.
