Pokemon: Making pokemon stronger through happiness
Chapter 460: Box of Treasures
Chapter 460:
"That’s really amazing."
Kaede crouched down, a smile spreading across his face.
The box in front of him contained toys and picture books clearly collected at different times. Some were faded, some worn. The picture books looked like they had been thumbed through again and again, their covers’ colors dimmed and edges slightly curled.
It seemed that every time Mew brought a Pokémon or human here, it would share its treasure trove with them.
Kaede wasn’t particularly interested in the toys, but those picture books piqued his curiosity. Picking one up, it was clearly a story passed down from the nearby castle, recording tales of the Aura Guardian from the past, heavily embellished.
He picked up another one; this was a comedic, entertainment-type story.
Other Pokémon, like Alolan Ninetales, Sylveon, or even Steenee and Tsareena, were more intrigued by the small toys, pawing at them.
But honestly, these trinkets might hold some appeal for Pokémon like Steenee and Tsareena who grew up in the wild, but for Alolan Ninetales and Sylveon, already "baptized" by anime, they were just curious at best.
They only gave the toys a few touches before putting them down, turning their attention to other areas.
But Mew was still delighted. In truth, these items held both importance and unimportance in its heart.
Because these little toys had been replaced batch after batch.
It could exist eternally alongside the Tree of Beginning, but these were merely products of human technology and era development; their "lifespan" wasn’t that long.
They would break.
It fiddled with a small friction-powered car, winding the key. The moment it let go, the car gained momentum and zipped far away.
Seeing this, a smile blossomed on Mew’s face. "Mew...~"
"Mew~!" (Look, it moved!)
This little car that could move naturally without any energy support had puzzled it for a long time.
It loved it.
But human development had been too rapid lately—so fast that in what felt like the blink of an eye, there were two-wheeled vehicles speeding along, then four-wheeled cars, then airplanes flying in the sky, and all sorts of steel cities springing from the ground. All of this left it, a witness, feeling bewildered.
Their detection methods grew more and more advanced. In the past, it could go anywhere it pleased, but now it was different.
Now there were things called surveillance cameras, energy detectors, and instruments that could identify its transformations. All these things made it feel strange and uneasy.
This world was no longer a place where it could roam freely as it wished.
That’s why, when it saw Lugia, it called out to it.
That way, it would feel a sense of security.
"Hahaha..."
Kaede chuckled softly in response, picking up the car that had zoomed away. He couldn’t help but say, "It moved because you wound it up, turning the gears."
"Mew..."
Mew shook its head. It didn’t understand these things, but it didn’t fiddle with the toys anymore, because it also knew that Kaede probably wasn’t enamored with these common little items from the human world.
But that was okay. It naturally had things that would captivate Kaede.
It scurried back into the tree hollow, this time pushing out another box.
Then it went in again and pushed out yet another box.
But the contents of these boxes were clearly much more peculiar.
And they seemed to be sorted into categories.
An assortment of stones—useful ones like Fire Stones, Shiny Stones, useless ones, pretty ones, and oddly shaped ores.
Most were Evolution Stones, and of quite high quality, basically all S-rank or above. Judging by the quantity, there were at least several dozen, and they were decently sized. Just this batch of Evolution Stones alone would be worth who-knows-how-much on the market.
Kaede shook his head. He wasn’t that keen on these Evolution Stones.
There was also a lump of gold.
Several boxes.
Another box contained seeds of various colors—Pecha Berry tree seeds, bean-type seeds, all sorts, even some Kaede didn’t recognize. He even spotted a walnut polished to a sheen.
It made the corner of his mouth twitch.
Who knew whose walnut had been "picked up" by it.
Who would have thought Mew had a bit of OCD, sorting and storing different types of things in designated places.
And the items in the boxes pushed out later made Kaede pause.
Right on top of one box was a feather shimmering with a rainbow hue, clean and bright. Kaede instinctively used his [Eye of Exploration].
[SSS-rank Ingredient: Lunar Feather — A feather said to have fallen from the Legendary Pokémon of Dreams, Cresselia. Seems to possess miraculous effects when used in cooking.]
That was just the topmost feather. Beneath it, Kaede also saw a prismatic antler fragment, also glowing with color, radiating dense vitality and peculiar energy.
[Legendary Ingredient — Naturally Shed Antler of Xerneas: Contains concentrated Fairy-type energy. Can be cooked into a specialty dish for Fairy-type Pokémon, possessing miraculous effects.]
And more... a feather with faded rainbow colors.
[Legendary Ingredient — Rainbow Feather of Ho-Oh: A feather said to have been shed by Ho-Oh, symbolizing recognition. It is a mark of Ho-Oh’s chosen. Note: Using it will attract the attention of Ho-Oh’s guardians.]
[Eternal Diamond — Crystallized diamond energy formed on the body of the Legendary Pokémon Diancie. Extremely hard.]
[Legendary Ingredient — Molted Dragon Scale of Rayquaza: Contains exceptionally vigorous Dragon-type energy. Can be cooked into a specialty dish for Dragon-type Pokémon, possessing miraculous effects.]
[SSS-rank Energy Crystal — Crystal formed in the Undersea Ruins. Contains immense Water-type energy, capable of effectively improving the living environment for Water-type Pokémon.]
[.....]
[.....]
Scanning through them, Kaede’s eyes instantly lit up.
*Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap...*
His mind was filled with nothing but shock and speechlessness.
There were at least a dozen items here, and half of them were Legendary-grade ingredients.
Unimaginable that Mew had hoarded this many.
"Mew~?" (You want these, right?)
Mew picked up a feather shimmering with rainbow light—Ho-Oh’s Rainbow Feather!
"Ahem... yes, yes..." Kaede chose to be honest with his heart.
Kidding, with these things, he felt he could cook up many dishes, and their effects would be absolutely maxed out.
*’No Silver Feather from me...’*
Lugia, who had followed them over, looked at the small box and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
Who would have thought this little guy had hidden so many... things from them.
But...
Why was there no Silver Feather from it here?
Had it all been given to this human?
