Several weeks passed quickly.

During that time, quite a lot had changed.

The first major development was that all 12 specialized Pokémon training rooms inside Alex's mansion had finally been completed. The construction teams had worked surprisingly fast and finished most of the complex facilities withinthe first two to three weeks.

Each room had been designed for a specific training purpose, meant to improve body and move mastery.

At first, the results seemed incredible. Now the training effectiveness of Alex's Pokémon had improved by around 40% when it came to both body training (level growth) and move mastery training.

However, after observing for several more days, Alex noticed an important drawback.

The training rooms pushed the Pokémon's bodies much harder than normal environments. Because of that, his Pokémon consumed noticeably more energy during each training session.

As a result, they couldn't train for as long as before.

After running several tests and adjusting the training schedules, Alex concluded that the real improvement was closer to 25 percent rather than 40.

Naturally, that was a little disappointing. Still, there wasn't much he could do about it. Even with the reduced estimate, a 25 percent improvement in training efficiency was still an enormous advantage compared to most normal Elite Level trainers.

There was also an unexpected benefit.

Because the Pokémon could achieve similar results in less time, many of them now had more free time during the day.

Several of Alex's Pokémon clearly enjoyed that change.

Some spent their extra time relaxing in the mansion's enormous garden, played with Maria's Pokémon or with their hobbys.

So even if the improvement wasn't quite as spectacular as Alex had initially hoped, the new training rooms were still a great success.

The second major development during these weeks was related to Alex's new wealth. With the enormous amount of money he had recently earned, he had been able to invest heavily in improving the potential of many of his Pokémon.

The greatest beneficiaries of these investments, however, were his two newest Pokémon.

Now all of Alex's Pokémon had reached SS-rank potential.

Gardevoir, Zweilous, Pupitar, and Luxray in particular had reached Diamond potential. Even Ditto was very close to reaching that level.

Alex had even tried to push Pupitar's potential further, hoping to raise it to Deep Diamond before it evolved into Tyranitar. However, during those attempts he discovered a serious limitation.

He simply couldn't find any Pokémon corpses or items containing Pokémon Energy with equal or higher potential than Pupitar.

Items from SS-rank Pokémon were already extremely rare, and almost everything Alex had managed to buy originated from Shallow Diamond Pokémon. That meant the improvement Pupitar gained after reaching Diamond potential was relativ small.

After several attempts and a lot of wasted resources, Alex finally accepted the reality of the situation and gave up on raising Pupitar to Deep Diamond before its evolution.

During this time, Alex also noticed something else about Pupitar that he hadn't really thought about before.

Pupitar didn't have arms or at least, it no longer had usable ones.

Naturally, Alex wondered how Pupitar was supposed to move properly without them, but after observing him for a while, he quickly realized that movement wasn't a problem at all for Pupitar.

Pupitar generated gas inside its body and expelled it under pressure, propelling itself forward like a small jet.

Fortunately, the gas was completely odorless. Otherwise Alex suspected he might start having some very strange thoughts every time he watched Pupitar moving around the training room.

Of course, raising the potential of so many Pokémon had cost an absurd amount of money.

During those weeks Alex had even returned one time to the Wild World to gather more valuable resources and earn additional income. But even with that extra money, it still wasn't enough to cover everything comfortably.

Alex truly realized just how expensive it was to improve the potential of SS-rank Pokémon—even those that were already born with excellent talent.

Fortunately, another source of income had recently appeared.

Three weeks ago, the Yu-Gi-Oh card game had officially started selling in stores across Hoenn.

Because the anime was airing at the same time, the popularity of the game had exploded almost immediately. Sales numbers were extremely high, and Alex expected the profits to be enormous.

Alex had already decided exactly what he would do with it. Most of it would go straight back into strengthening his Pokémon(s) Potential.

The money hadn't reached Alex yet, but in about a week the first large payment would finally arrive—after he paid his taxes.

Although trainers in this world didn't have to pay taxes on most of their activities, that rule didn't apply to everything. Business income was a completely different matter.

Alex had to pay forty percent of his profits to the Alliance, which left him depressed for several days.

When he first arrived in the Pokémon world, he had briefly believed that he had escaped taxes entirely.

Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case.
