Chapter 215: Chapter 215

Kyra’s POV

The bomb threat at the company had created complete chaos. After taking a three week break to recover from everything that had happened, I decided it was time to return to work. I was now fully focused on managing my father’s company while completely stepping away from my mother’s business, which I’d handed over to Sara. Matt had secured a position at the hospital, and Mason was helping Sara manage the company. He was also overseeing the sunflower plantation and the family hacienda that had been left to us.

It wasn’t that I wanted to cut ties with my mother’s side of the family. I simply believed Sara and my cousins deserved the Foster family wealth more than I did. Besides, I already had my father’s company and assets, which was more than enough for me.

The morning air felt crisp as I walked toward the office building. I carried an iced coffee from the shop across the street in one hand, with the other tucked into my pocket. I’d chosen a maternity floral dress that fit my growing bump while still looking professional. My company ID hung from a lanyard around my neck, bouncing gently against my chest with each step.

My phone chimed with a notification. Seeing Nathan’s name on the screen made me smile instantly. When I opened his message, I couldn’t help but laugh at the photo he’d sent. It showed himself pouting dramatically while sitting in his office chair, looking comically sad.

’From Nathan, my handsome hubby.I’m sad. I told you I want to take a day off and spend this day with you’

"He’s such a child sometimes," Sylvia commented, though I could feel her amusement.

I shook my head, snapping a quick selfie to send back to him before continuing my walk. I was about to cross the road when someone suddenly grabbed my arm with unexpected force. The surprise made me jerk, spilling my iced coffee down the front of my dress. Thank goodness it wasn’t my usual hot coffee.

When I looked up, my eyes widened at the sight of a familiar woman. Sophia had lost a considerable amount of weight since I’d last seen her. Dark circles shadowed her eyes, and her face was twisted into a hateful glare.

"Sophia..." I whispered, tension immediately flooding my body.

She smirked, a cold, calculated expression. "You still remember me?"

I raised an eyebrow, keeping my voice steady despite the alarm bells ringing in my head. "How could I forget the woman who’s been stalking my husband like a mad dog?"

Her evil smile faded, replaced by raw anger that burned in her eyes. In that moment, I noticed a truck approaching on the road beside us. The realization of what she intended to do hit me. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

I tried to back away, but she grabbed my hair and yanked me backward. Pain shot through me as I screamed for help, desperately fighting against her as she tried to push me into the path of the oncoming truck.

"No! No! I’m pregnant!"

My thoughts narrowed to a single purpose—protecting my baby. Sophia used all her strength to push me toward the road, but her weakened state worked in my favor. I managed to pull away sharply, causing her to lose her grip on my hair. She screamed as she lost her balance, stumbling forward straight into the path of the truck she’d intended for me.

The sickening impact made me scream in horror. The truck driver slammed on his brakes, but it was too late. Sophia’s body rolled several times on the hard asphalt before coming to a still heap on the ground. People who had been watching the confrontation now rushed forward, forming a crowd around her fallen form.

My throat went dry as I ran toward her, gasping when I saw the blood beginning to stain the pavement.

"She’s bleeding too much," Sylvia observed solemnly.

I knelt beside Sophia’s unconscious body. Her breathing was shallow, her face deathly pale. She was fighting for her life right before my eyes.

"Call an ambulance, please!" I called out to the people around us before turning my attention back to Sophia. "Sophia... can you hear me?"

I cupped her cheek with one trembling hand, my instincts to help overpowering any resentment I might have felt toward her.

Around me, voices blended together in a chaotic murmur,

"I saw her trying to push the pregnant woman. It was her fault."

"Someone call an ambulance!"

"Is she dead?"

Ignoring the commotion, I focused on trying to help Sophia. I pulled my handkerchief from my purse and pressed it against the bleeding wound on the side of her head, applying steady pressure. My hands quickly became stained with her blood, but I didn’t care. Despite everything she had done, I couldn’t stand by and watch someone die.

After what felt like an eternity, the ambulance arrived with its sirens blaring. The paramedics quickly took over, providing first aid before carefully loading her into the vehicle.

A police officer approached me, offering a towel to clean my bloodied hands while asking about what had happened.

I recounted the events truthfully, my voice shaking slightly as the adrenaline began to wear off. Several witnesses confirmed my story, making it clear that what had happened was an accident. One that Sophia herself had caused.

"You should get checked out too," the officer suggested, eyeing my pregnant belly with concern.

I nodded numbly, suddenly feeling the weight of what had just occurred. I’d nearly lost my baby, our baby, because of this woman’s hatred. And now, she might lose her life because of it.
