Pursuing Her Best Friend after Confession Failed
Chapter 634 - 224: Club Recruitment, Someone Showing Off in Front of Me?_3
As they chatted, the topic turned to club recruitment.
Li Lanrong said with a giggle, "I enjoy drawing. I wonder if our school has an art club. It’d be nice to have something to learn when I’m bored. Chenchen, Xinxin, what are your hobbies? Which clubs do you want to join?"
Ge Chenchen smiled and said, "I want to join the Student Council. I know a senior in the publicity department, and she asked if I was interested in joining."
"I’m quite interested in writing, so I’ll probably join the Literary Society," Gao Xin said. Then, she looked curiously at Xia Zhijin and Li Yuan, teasing, "Li Yuan, Zhijin, what about you two?"
Hearing Gao Xin’s question, Li Yuan’s gaze fell on Xia Zhijin, and his heart stirred. I’ve been neglecting her recently. I haven’t even asked about her interests or hobbies. A pang of guilt struck him. He took her hand and asked, "Zhijin, is there anything you’re interested in? I’ll go with you to check it out."
Xia Zhijin glanced at Li Yuan and hurriedly shook her head. "No, it’s okay. I don’t really have any hobbies."
She was telling the truth. Given her family’s situation, simply being able to afford food and tuition was a significant feat, leaving no time for extracurricular activities.
Li Yuan ruffled her hair and smiled. "Zhijin, having a hobby is good. It keeps life from getting boring. Our lives need a bit more fun to be worthwhile."
"If you want to join any club, I can go with you."
"Oh!" Xia Zhijin nodded shyly.
From the side, Li Lanrong teased, "Wow, Li Yuan, you’re so thoughtful."
Gao Xin said enviously, "Tsk tsk, there they go again with the public displays of affection. I’m stuffed."
The group arrived at the plaza in front of the cafeteria. The large space was already covered with sun umbrellas, under which various signs advertised club recruitment. The booths for the Student Council’s various departments were the most crowded, absolutely packed with people. Other popular clubs, like those for roller skating, taekwondo, and basketball, also had large turnouts.
"Wow, our school has so many clubs! There’s even a rugby club? What’s rugby? I’ve never even heard of it."
"This guitar club looks interesting. You can learn to play there. I remember you play the guitar too, Yuan. Want to give it a try?"
As they were talking, Gao Xin suddenly pointed to a spot and shouted excitedly, "Found it! That’s the Literary Society! Let’s go check it out."
Li Yuan looked interested as well. He was curious about what a university’s Literary Society actually did. Following Gao Xin, the group of eight or nine people approached the Literary Society’s stall.
As one of the more popular clubs, the Literary Society held a certain appeal for these top students from a 985 university. Anyone admitted to such a prestigious university might not have been a heaven-sent prodigy in high school, but they were all exceptionally talented and academically gifted.
As Li Yuan’s group got closer, they overheard some of the freshmen’s questions.
"Excuse me, are there any requirements to join the Literary Society?" a student asked one of the seniors.
"Hello, senior," said another. "I was wondering, if I join the Literary Society, does that mean I can write novels?"
"By joining, can I earn a lot of money like that web novelist from our school?" a third inquired.
"You must be talking about ’Life Like Summer Flowers,’ right? I think he writes web novels. He’s amazing..."
Li Yuan found it amusing to hear himself mentioned. So, I’ve unwittingly become a legend...
After listening for a moment, he wandered over to the basketball club’s stall next door. Compared to literature, basketball held a greater appeal for him. Since his rebirth, his physical fitness had skyrocketed, and his basketball skills had risen accordingly. He figured there might be some truly skilled players in Daxia University’s basketball club.
Meanwhile, Gao Xin addressed the four people at the Literary Society’s stall—two male and two female students. "Seniors, can I ask what our school’s Literary Society mainly does?"
One of the male students, who wore glasses, looked up at Gao Xin with a blank expression. His gaze then swept past her to Xia Zhijin, and a flicker of shock crossed his face. He then launched into a long-winded explanation, his eyes occasionally glancing toward the attentively listening Xia Zhijin.
"Junior, the Daxia University Literary Society was founded in the 1980s. It has a long history and has produced many famous alumni. Our main activities are discussing creative writing and studying literary concepts. If you have a passion for literature and a certain degree of literary aptitude, you can join us after passing our society’s review process."
After he finished, the student with glasses glanced at Xia Zhijin again, desperately hoping this stunningly beautiful and gentle girl had been captivated by his words and would want to join.
Gao Xin was intrigued. She liked creative writing and asked curiously, "Um, senior, do you guys in the Literary Society talk about how to write novels?"
The bespectacled student was taken aback for a moment before asking, "What kind of novels are you referring to?"
Gao Xin replied, "How about web novels?"
At the mention of web novels, a hint of disdain flashed in the student’s eyes. He replied proudly, "Our Literary Society mainly discusses traditional literature, classical and modern poetry, and novels with real-world significance—works that are published in major magazines and literary journals. For instance, I’ve had several articles published in *Youth Digest*."
"As for the web novels you mentioned, that kind of fast-food trash—cough cough, sorry, a slip of the tongue—has absolutely no literary value. Our Literary Society would certainly never study it."
