When she opened the door, Forok was standing in the same spot as before, just beginning to turn his gaze toward Chika. Seeing this, she launched a preemptive strike, casting a spell before he could say anything more.

Because they had prior knowledge of an intruder, Forok and his allies were also on guard. He narrowly dodged the unleashed magic, and upon realizing Chika was a woman, tried to issue an order. Sensing this, Chika created a wall of fire to block the doorway while simultaneously continuing her attack with an area-of-effect spell.

Trapped in the room with no escape route, Forok ran to the back of the room and tried to open a window to escape the electric shocks. Seeing this, Chika moved to unleash another spell, as if to refuse him any chance of retreat.

But due to the command Forok issued while his hand was still on the window, Chika could not cast her follow-up magic.

Seeing that Chika had stopped moving, Forok nodded in relief, turned his back to the window, faced her, and issued a series of commands. Unable to resist, Chika obediently dispelled her magic and walked toward him, stopping diagonally in front of him.

Why was Shiori here instead of with Chika? This was the strategy they had devised together. First, Chika would infiltrate the mansion, defeat the security monsters just as before, and head toward Forok. Upon arrival, she would launch a preemptive strike before receiving any orders. If that succeeded and she could defeat him, excellent. If not, the plan was for Shiori—positioned far enough away that she would not hear Forok’s commands—to take him down with a sniper shot using her bow while Forok was distracted by Chika.

The reason Shiori was assigned to long-range attacks was simple: the straight-line distance between Forok’s room and the rooftop of the building she targeted from was fifty meters, too far for Chika’s magic to aim accurately.
