The guide looked over to Fengyu, curious why he would ask such a question, but he answered regardless, "Here, the doctors decide themselves whatever they think is the price. We have a guidebook on pricing for doctors and patients to read, so you will know which price range you will have to pay.

Usually the doctor will give a general estimate in spirit stones, while the patient will either pay that estimate or give something of equal value. If the doctor strictly wants spirit stones, he can have the hospital estimate the value of the items and exchange them for spirit stones."

Fengyu listened while contemplating whether such an approach was reasonable - but as he thought about it, he realised that this was the case for individual doctors’ offices too. The doctor or an assistant would give a general estimate and you can decide whether you want to pay it or not.

Here, doctors and patients had a guidebook, which would restrict bad practices. At the same time, with so many doctors in one place, it is inevitable for there to be competition and unspoken rules, so generally the prices won’t be too high or too low.

While it’s not as great as the low payments in the Grand Spirit Hospital, it is still quite good. And, in consideration that beasts were all unique and required more specific knowledge for treatment, it’s understandable why a "one cure treating all" way of payment wouldn’t work here.

Agreeing with their approach, Fengyu felt again that this hospital was the most suitable for his own situation.

He walked together around the hospital with the guide for an hour, generally just looking around to try and confirm the information he gained from the guide.

At the end of the tour, he felt like it had been a good tour that gave him a lot of insight.

Returning to the reception, he walked through a different side entrance to go back and line up. After a moment’s thought, he decided to line up for the wolf receptionist again, even though there were three beasts and a half-beast lining up there.

The wolf’s efficiency was quite good and it was soon Fengyu’s turn again. Looking up to him, the wolf smiled, "I hope fellow daoist enjoyed the tour. Do you have any other request?"

Fengyu nodded and took out his token, as well as the letter of invitation from the city, presenting it to the wolf but not handing it over as he said, "I would like to meet the director responsible for recruitment of doctors."

The wolf was surprised, glanced at the letter and the token, understood something before nodding and tapping hastily on his table, "Fellow daoist, please wait a moment, the director will come soon."

Fengyu nodded and walked to the side again, waiting to be greeted by the director.

The beasts behind Fengyu seemed a bit hesitant whether they should line up somewhere else, but no sooner had they thought about this when they saw a strong aura approach from a distance -

A middle-aged cultivator in dashing black-red striped robes walked up to them with a smile, "I am the recruiting director, how may I call the Inner Citizen?" he asked right away.

"Senior, I am but just a humble cultivator called Fengyu!" Fengyu replied, cupping his hand and bowing to the senior.

"No need for formalities, come with me!" the cultivator said right away, turning around and walking behind the walls.

Fengyu didn’t delay and walked right behind him, his steps large as he tried to keep up with the cultivator ahead.

They walked to a stairway right behind the wall which Fengyu had missed when he first walked down this path.

His steps up the stairway paused for a moment, for he saw that there were quite a few extremely large beasts in the rooms further ahead, probably beasts who were naturally tall even in the first stage.

"Haha, this sight is normal here. When you treat beast patients, it’s easy to have a wound crossing several metres!" the striped robe cultivator ahead chuckled while continuing to walk up the stairs.

After arriving at the second floor, he simply took another stairway and continued to climb.

This time Fengyu didn’t dare look too much, as the cultivators here were all stronger than him, and a single move could kill him.

Arriving on the third floor, he saw that each room here was even larger, yet each room was also closed, with few cultivators walking around.

The cultivator led him along the corridor to the end, where there was a large bureau. Entering the bureau, there were very few cultivators, who only looked up for a moment before returning to their work.

Fengyu followed the cultivator into a private office, a rather simple office with a large open space to the left, the table and chairs arranged on the right.

"Please, sit down." the cultivator said as he walked to the other side of the table, sitting down.

As they sat, a half-beast cultivator came in and poured tea for both of them before leaving again.

"This is quite good tea - second-grade mind concentration tea! I recommend you put it into your spatial bag and drink it when you are close to comprehending something!" the cultivator chuckled, only to see that Fengyu actually took the tea together with the cup into his spatial bag, not waiting for him to take things back.

"Hahaha! I like this attitude!" he laughed aloud at Fengyu’s action.

"Senior, every cultivation resource is precious, I really can’t waste it!" Fengyu explained with a smile, not at all embarrassed about taking the tea.

"Indeed, indeed!" the cultivator nodded and laughed a bit before turning serious.

"Junior Fengyu, I already confirmed your identity based on your token. You have indeed been assigned a task to become a Spiritual Doctor formally by entering one of the three hospitals. Seeing you here, I assume you have decided to become a doctor here?"

"Yes, senior! I wish to become a doctor of the Spirit Beast Hospital!"
