Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards
Chapter 188: Three Liu Brothers
Seven days of prayer meant that one prayed fully from the first to the seventh day, only formally ending the prayer at the end of the seventh day.
Fengyu stood up, his legs slightly sore. But, with a simple spell, the soreness quickly disappeared.
His expression was one of assurance and delight. The flags had ’vanished’ - they disappeared under the transformation, now hiding in the sunlight, like particles of light invisible to him. Once he needed their strength, he could call them forth through the plate!
Turning around, he looked behind him, where he saw Wind Claw already waiting.
"Quack quack quack quack, quack?"
"Three came and one of them said his name was Shanqing? Yeah, he’s a friend!"
"Quack quack quack."
"That’s good, then I’ll see him in a few hours." Fengyu nodded. It was already morning, as the prayer started before nightfall and ended after the seventh night.
He returned to the Duck Villa, where he saw Mother Duck talking with Silver Feather and Silver Shadow about their feather attacks.
"You’re as diligent as always," he chuckled. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Quack, you’ve become so busy lately that the task of teaching these ducks falls on me!" Mother Duck complained slightly.
"It’s because-" Fengyu was about to reason when Mother Duck raised her wing.
"I already know the reason, I’m just ranting. Don’t you humans always have two parents? It’s normal for one to be busy and the other to take care of the children. Just make sure to pay more spirit stones in the future so I can teach them better and allow them to grow faster!" Mother Duck said, then directly returned to the two silver ducks.
"Ah..." Fengyu was stumped. Had he transformed into an absent father? An urge to participate more in his ’children’s’ affairs suddenly rose, but he quickly suppressed it.
It could wait until after the Beast Tide...
He had barely returned to his room and slept for a few hours when Wind Claw entered his room.
"Quack?" Wind Claw asked whether he was awake.
"Haha, I was just napping for a bit. I will go to sleep at night, since today is going to be a busy day." Fengyu woke up a bit groggily from his nap, using another vitality recovery spell to freshen up again.
Walking out of the villa and down the road, he soon arrived at an abandoned acre of his field, outside of which he saw Shanqing together with two young men.
"Shanqing! I made you wait," Fengyu quickly opened the formation and greeted him with a warm smile.
But... just as he did, just as the two stepped forward, he got a message from Zimu -
Shanqing was peaceful, the one to the left was fine, but the one to the right had a slightly unpeaceful aura. Although it wasn’t aggressive, it was still something that would require an inspection.
Fengyu was surprised, not because they weren’t peaceful, but because they were rather peaceful compared to every other cultivator he saw and met in the city! Their complexion was more peaceful and their attitude was relaxed, fit to be... Ahem!
He regained himself from his thoughts, only to see Shanqing look at him worriedly, not even greeting him with his usual cheery attitude.
"Is something wrong?" Shanqing asked, already knowing of Fengyu’s perceptive ability. Why? Naturally it was because he, as a Battle Master specialising in eyes and perception, could subtly see the aura of peace around Fengyu!
"It’s nothing much, just that your friend here has a bit of an aggressive aura," Fengyu explained while nodding to the one on the right.
"Oh, it’s just this! Haha, let me introduce you - this here to the left is my cousin Shanluan, and this to the right is Shanquan! Shanluan is an umbrella creation master, while Shanquan here is a Battle Master like me. It’s just that he cultivates his claws and his fighting style is slightly aggressive... maybe that’s the reason?" Shanqing introduced them while asking.
"Fellow daoist Fengyu, I have heard a lot about you! My fighting is a bit fierce and I bathe my claws in blood, which might be why my aura is fierce," Shanquan chuckled as he explained.
"That’s understandable, your aura isn’t particularly fierce, just a bit less peaceful. It might be because the bath fellow daoist bathes his claws in might be fierce, which is why it attached itself to you," Fengyu nodded and didn’t think too much. Since the fierceness was rather low, it was fine.
"Greetings fellow daoist Fengyu, I have also heard great things! My umbrellas are a bit ugly and they’re all made of iron and other metals, but if fellow daoist ever needs one, I would be happy to sell one!" Shanluan greeted Fengyu when he saw the chance.
"Oh? Is fellow daoist focused on defensive umbrellas?"
"Haha, just a bit, not much! My umbrellas are defensive, but their other abilities are weak!" Shanluan said humbly.
"In that case..." Fengyu looked over to Shanqing, a question asked silently.
Shanqing nodded with a bright smile and explained, "Naturally I wouldn’t have come to impose on brother Fengyu without bringing any aid! Since Shanquan and I will fight, we contributed together to purchase a formation, a protective second-stage formation which is good at warding off sneak or hidden attacks, best deployed inside another formation. We will deploy it together in a bit.
Shanluan isn’t good at fighting, but he directly contributed his best creation - a second-stage low-grade Blackwood Iron Umbrella! This umbrella is a giant umbrella, just its materials worth at least three low-grade umbrellas! It’s not only extremely defensive, but it can even embed into the ground and stretch across a whole acre in an emergency, protecting the field fully!"
"Fellow daoist is so attentive!" Fengyu quickly cupped his hands in thanks, unsure of what to say. Such a generous contribution - these rich people are really good!
"Haha, I am really weak and only know how to protect myself a bit, so I can only rely on fellow daoist!" Shanluan said cheerfully, quite happy about the surprise.
