Chapter 46: Ch 46: Naming the Demon Queen

’Where am I? What happened to me? The last thing I recall was...Those bastards! Did they seriously curse me? I am the Demon Queen! I am going to kill them as soon as I destroy this curse...Why is it not breaking?’

Demon Queen Lyra Drakmor had a hard time recalling what happened. But once she did recall her current condition, she tried her best to break the curse she was under.

However, her powers were sealed and it was hard for her to reach them. Trying to reach them made her tired, and she quickly gave up and pushed herself harder against the soft surface she was lying on.

’A soft surface? Didn’t those traitors throw me out to die? Why am I lying on a soft surface? Not only that, but this scene...it feels familiar somehow.’

Lyra knew that she had never smelled that scent in her life before. This room was also one she had never seen before.

And yet, it all felt familiar, almost as if she had been here before.

She followed that trace of familiar scent and her eyes landed on an unfamiliar human. He immediately noticed that she was awake and decided to approach her.

Lyra wanted to growl at him and tell him to stay back, but her senses were telling her that this human was not a threat to her, but an ally.

"Looks like you are awake now. That’s good. Let me check your temperature. I want to make sure you are alright."

The human approached her, and Lyra remained calm until she recalled that humans were enemies and she needed to back away.

Moreover, this human was letting out a terrifying aura that was contained behind a seal.

Most people wouldn’t be able to tell how much power this human had, but it was impossible to hide these things from the eyes of the Demon Queen.

{Don’t come closer to me. If you do, then I will hurt you.}

She warned the human, but he must not have understood her because he kept coming closer.

"Why are you barking so much? Does it hurt somewhere? If so, then let me check up on you. I want to make sure you are truly fine."

The human told Lyra, but she became even more vigilant when she saw him almost touching her.

She tried to use her magic, but she already knew that it would not work. So she needed to try another method of self-defense.

Her body instinctively moved, and she bit the human’s hand before she knew it.

The human did not even flinch as he grabbed her by the scruff of her neck and pulled her away. It must have hurt to be bitten by her, but the terrifying human looked unfazed.

He must have noticed her surprise because he flexed his hand, and there was only a small wound where she had bitten him.

"It seems like your teeth are not fully grown in yet. I hardly felt a thing when you bit me. Looks like Seraphina was right. It is too dangerous for you to be outside all alone. Why don’t you stay with me for now?"

The human asked, and Lyra felt a wave of humiliation wash over her.

{Hey human! How dare you tell the Demon Queen that she is too weak to survive on her own? Do you want to die?}

Lyra felt her mood drop at being treated like a helpless beast by this kid.

She needed to find a way out and break this curse before she could take her revenge.

No matter how good and familiar this human smelled, Lyra had no intention of staying here long-term.

But maybe staying here until she recovered a bit more would not be a bad deal either.

"It seems like you are starting to calm down. You must be getting hungry by now as well. Here, eat this and feel a little better."

The human pushed a bowl of food toward Lyra, and she felt her mouth salivate.

She knew that it was not right for her to take the human’s help, but she could not help herself. She could not even recall when she had last eaten something.

’Just a little bit. A small bite won’t hurt.’

Lyra lied to herself before she felt herself being set down on her feet and the food bowl was pushed toward her.

She pretended she was not interested before reaching forward and taking the first bite. It became easier to keep eating after that until she heard the human chuckle.

"It seems like you were far hungrier than you realized. For now, take your time and make sure not to choke. I have more for you if you are still hungry after this."

Lyra felt humiliated at being treated like a pet by this human, but the food was too good for her to stop eating it.

So she ignored the human and kept eating.

"Let me introduce myself to you. I am Kael, a Grand Master of the Magic Tower. As for you...we will need a name for you as well."

That surprised Lyra.

As a Demon Queen, she knew who the Grand Masters were and how powerful they were. She usually told her demons to be careful about making enemies with those individuals because they could suffer heavy losses otherwise.

But most of those Grand Masters were wizened men who had a lot of experience.

And this human...Wasn’t he too young to be a Grand Master? Unless he was lying.

’Did this human realize who I am and decide to lie to me about who he is? If so, then he deserves death...but maybe I can keep him alive as my food source.’

Lyra decided before she went back to eating.

She was halfway done when she felt magic touching her neck. It made her growl, but the magic did not hurt her.

Instead, it settled around her neck like a necklace...or a collar before she could do anything.

"This collar should signal to the others that you are not a stray, and they will not hurt you if they run into you. So don’t take it off for your own protection...not that you could anyway. Now, should we give you a name?"

The human asked, and Lyra instantly became aggressive.

{Don’t you dare give me a name! I already have a name that I am proud of, and that is Lyra Drakmor, the Demon Queen.}

Unfortunately, the human could not hear her.

"Let’s call you Lyra, alright?"

The human told Lyra, and she felt shocked. Was this truly a coincidence, or did this human know something?
