Chapter 941: Spiders And Decision?

The rest of their 'lunch' went by pretty normally, to the point they didn't even realize half the day had gone by as they did nothing but talk about the most random things imaginable.

For one, Rael now knew that Gaia apparently had a fear of spiders? That was a little strange, since of all things... spiders? Really?

He had asked more about it, and according to her, before she was Gaia, and before she was a great being, she was once a zookeeper. An unlucky zookeeper who had to go through the trouble of taking care of some tarantulas.

And like the unlucky zookeeper that she was, she was once locked in an enclosure and had several dozen tarantulas crawl onto her. If not for her having some mana to hold herself back from being bitten, the tarantulas would've done a lot worse than just crawl onto her.

As for the cherry on top, this happened twice to her, which was why she had a fear of spiders. Rael found it a little funny, but he held himself back from actually laughing. After all, he was sure she had already read his thoughts.

Nonetheless, a day had passed since then, and now, Rael simply waited outside, having nothing else to do but wait for Isobel to arrive and give him some weird instructions, or just anything in general.

Which was fine, of course, since that was what he was waiting for. And of course, it only took a couple more minutes before Isobel finally manifested in front of him.

At the same time, Nyx appeared beside Rael as well. He was a little surprised, since he hadn't seen her in a while. In fact, she hadn't shown up even once after the pregnancy talk and all.

Though from the looks of things, she was still relatively the same.

However...

"Nyx?" Isobel called out in surprise. "What are you doing here? I didn't expect you to still be active after everything that happened in the past. What a surprise."

Nyx scoffed. "Cut the shit already. What did you tell the other bastards, and how is he going to be dealt with now?"

Of course, while Rael didn't know these people, Nyx did. She knew his intention from the very start, and she also knew who he might find whenever he turned back time.

An Ambassador who had reported to their concept had already brought the attention of millions of other beings onto Rael. And of course, that was simply because they had already come to a decision of what they would do with him.

Hence why Nyx finally reappeared, feeling the need to chime in and prevent Rael from being instantly killed. But then again, she also had Gaia not too far away, and she knew that Gaia was no joke, especially now.

So with that in mind, she quickly formed a barrier around them, blocking out all the gazes that were coming from outside. After all, Rael had already experienced this treatment once.

Back when he had taken over Altros's body and killed the hospital director, Rael tapped into his mana and caused a mass awakening of the whole world. Thousands of eyes emerged from nowhere and began observing him.

At the time, they weren't able to actually determine what kind of being he was. That was why Rael simply managed to avoid being spotted. Those eyes, however, kept on looking, capturing all sorts of other beings that ever messed with the timeline.

And naturally, they never found Rael, until he just so happened to repeat that process all over again, just this time showing himself to the Ambassador of Reality. She wasn't his friend. She wasn't Nyx's friend either.

In fact, she was one of the people who pissed Nyx off the most, since the Ambassadors of Reality kept showing up whenever she slept for billions of years at a time. Her sudden stat increase always pissed them off, so they had no choice but to reduce the amount of stats she had gained.

In turn... her sleep was wasted because of them, so she hated them more than anything. Regardless of her past grievances though, the issue at hand currently was simple.

"I'm afraid you can't have Rael," Nyx said plainly.

She stared back at her for a moment, then blinked. "Have him? Why should I have him?"

"Don't bullshit me. The only reason you came here was because you wanted to adjust him, no?" Nyx replied, taking a step forward. "If not for you already coming to a decision, you wouldn't even be here to begin with. Am I wrong?"

Isobel sighed. "You seem to underestimate me, and especially my intentions. Normally, if this were just some kind of being who had no affiliations and no ego, we would get rid of them. However, Rael is different. He is old, and he is a treasure trove of information. We'd simply like to recruit him, is all."

Rael raised a brow at her words, finally understanding what the two were arguing about. "So instead of coming to me with some information, you came to get some information out of me? Let me guess, if I refuse, you're going to attack me?"

She shrugged. "Don't blame me. Blame how life works. So please make your decision swiftly, as I have plenty of other matters to attend to."

With that, she snapped her fingers, causing the barrier to shatter. In the next instant, thousands of eyes appeared out of nowhere, resembling that time Rael had caused the awakening and saw all those eyes in the spatial crack.

Finally realizing what kind of scenario this was, Rael let out a groan and immediately reached out to one other person who could help at the moment.

Gaia, if you're not sleeping, could you come over and um... help, a little? We might need to fight in a bit.

And as if on cue, a giant wave of mana suddenly descended from the sky. Before Rael could even realize what was happening, Isobel's head dropped to the ground as the rest of her body folded lifelessly.
