Rebirth: Beasts Bound
Chapter 59 - 0: JOURNEY - THYRIAN’S HOME [1]
Veyra had tied the sacks to a sash, turning it into something Thyrian could wear across his chest.
"It wouldn’t slow you down, right?" I asked Thyrian, and he shook his head negatively. I smiled and stared at him, all ready, except he wasn’t wearing a shirt.
"We should follow you to the shore at least," Ryker said, and I couldn’t help but laugh. They were worried about me. I nodded and didn’t say a word. Ryker picked Orange from the floor, gently caressing her.
"Let her see you off too," he said softly.
I opened the door gently and walked out. I really wanted Liora to see me off, but remembering her words, I couldn’t bring myself to knock on her door.
"She was angry with me right now, I should let her be," I thought and looked away from the door, gently circling the ring on my finger... just then the door opened and Thyrian’s hands gently entwined with mine. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Don’t be nervous," he said.
"I’m not," I said, and he gently patted my hair, but truly I was. I had only read about kingdoms under water. I even had dreams of going there myself. I never would have thought I’d actually get to see one in person.
We walked out and down the stairs. The others followed right behind us from a distance. The night was quiet, and only the humming of the wind could be heard. I stared up at the sky.
"It looks like it’s going to rain soon," I said softly, and Thyrian gave a simple, "Yes." He seemed to be deep in thought.
"Are you okay?" I asked him, holding his arm, and he stopped in his tracks. "Yes, but a bit....skeptical," he said, and I sighed.
"If they don’t welcome you, I’ll make them regret it," he said, clenching his fist. I knew he didn’t want them to treat me badly, but doing all this wouldn’t get him anywhere... I was going there so he could make peace with his family, if that was still possible.
"You wouldn’t need to," I said, and his eyes softened as he looked at me. "Of course, I know," he said and bit his lower lip.
Thyrian held my waist, pulling me closer, till we finally arrived at the shore. It was also the same spot I fell into the river. I couldn’t help but feel my hair stand, the memories of last time made my eyes darken.
I watched as Thyrian jumped in without a second thought, but I didn’t. All I could think of was my death. I gasped the moment Ryker’s hands landed on my back.
"Don’t worry, you wouldn’t drown with Thyrian next to you!" he said, and Thyrian stretched his hands. It was purple pearls this time.
"What are these for?" I asked.
"To help you breathe underwater," Thyrian said, and I picked one up, taking it into my mouth and chewing softly on it. It melted instantly like an ice popsicle, cold, and then it subsided.
Just then the sky roared, and I looked upwards. It really was going to rain.
"Raven," I heard Thyrian’s soft voice, and I turned to gaze at him. He smiled softly. I stared at his hands, and something inside me stirred.
"Do you trust me?" he asked, still offering his hands. I was scared, but seeing his soft eyes and the way they sincerely gazed into mine, I couldn’t help but blush and placed my hands in his.
He pulled me, and instantly I dropped into the water. I moved to the bottom, expecting difficulty with breathing, but I could breathe freely. The pearl he gave me earlier was doing its job. Truly, water creatures are mystical.
I raised my head to the surface, waving at the others, and they waved back. But my eyes still scanned around, Liora nor Azrael weren’t there. I couldn’t help but feel a part of me grow sad.
"Let’s go," I heard Thyrian’s voice from behind, and I nodded. Looks like they weren’t coming. But then thunder struck so loud I had to stare up.
A droplet of water landed on my face, and I froze. I blinked my lashes, staring as the sky filled with rain and the clouds went dark... but then the rain shifted.
They suddenly formed a star shape in the sky. I stared, mesmerized. Wow!
"It’s so pretty," I said and turned back to check on Thyrian. His eyes were shimmering silver, and his hands swirled with magic mist, he was controlling the rain.
"You control anything water-based?" I asked, and Thyrian hummed positively. I couldn’t help but smile. A nasty thought flashed in my mind, and my smirk died. Gawd, I think my own mind actually traumatized me.
Just then I felt Thyrian’s cold hands entwine with mine, and I stared at him. We both gazed at each other until we both blushed and looked away. I waved bye to the others again... ready to leave, accepting they wouldn’t come, and Thyrian swam, his fin moved fast in the water, wow, even the sack didn’t actually slow him down.
Just as we were about to dive in, I sighted Azrael and Liora outside. She was waving, but Azrael wasn’t, though he still had a composed look on his face. Seeing them, I couldn’t help but smile.
"My whole family, watching me leave," I whispered softly. It made my heart warm, but I froze the moment I sighted Bibi. She didn’t wave too, but she had a smirk on her face. I smirked back, but I was sure she wouldn’t see it, we were a bit far away now.
Thyrian was faster than I could imagine. That second, he dived in with me. His fin shimmered out in the ocean, and then he swam faster and downwards. I couldn’t help but gaze at his lower fish body. He looked so fantastic...I couldn’t help but drool.
Although I have seen him swim in a pool, this ocean was different, this ocean was bigger and better. He grabbed my hands tightly.
"Look ahead, Raven," he called out softly, and as I stared, a school of little fish swam our way. I felt their fins whipping around my face, but it was the best feeling ever.
Just when I was enjoying the ocean view, I sighted rows of large canines, and I froze. We were going right into it. F*ck! I stared at the fin at the top of its head.
"A shark," I called out, just as it was about to snap its mouth shut.....
