REBIRTH : Chasing The Limelight
Chapter 138: Love is a luxury he can’t afford.
Mira_Loves_E: "You said you’ve forgiven her, yet you kept talking about your swollen ankle. That’s funny. Is that the same swollen ankle you were using to walk perfectly around the parking lot twenty minutes after the incident, or did you borrow that one? You didn’t even limp or stumble. Want me to drop the link to the video, or how long are you still planning to carry your ’swollen’ story?"
The little floating hearts on the side of the screen stopped instantly. It seemed everyone had suddenly stopped to read the person’s comment.
The corners of Relanie’s mouth twitched. Then she pursed her lips, her brows pulling together.
"It seems someone here really misunderstood my intentions," she muttered, her voice dropping into a fragile tone. "Mira... is it? It’s so sad that we’ve reached a point where even forgiveness is met with such... malice."
She paused, looking down at her lap as if gathering her courage.
"Look, I’ve said it before. I don’t oppose anyone supporting Elara. Really, I don’t. If you see something in her that I missed, then please, give her that love. I would even encourage it. She clearly needs a support system right now."
Then, her expression hardened.
"But what I cannot accept... what is truly unacceptable... is using fabricated stories and ’parking lot videos’ to try and blackmail me into silence. To suggest I wasn’t hurt, when I’m sitting here in pain..." She let out a shaky bitter laugh. "It’s one thing to defend a friend, but it’s another to try and destroy a person’s character just because they survived an accident. Please... if you hate me that much, just leave the stream. Don’t do this."
She tried as much as possible to stay calm, but her heart was already tight with annoyance.
Who the hell is this Mira trying to ruin things for her. Did she even know what she was playing with?
Before she could fully recover, another comment appeared again.
Mira_Loves_E: "Sweetie, it’s only blackmail if I’m asking for money. I’m giving this away for free. And since you’re calling it fabricated, let’s see how your swollen ankle explains you rushing out through the side door and getting into a SUV."
Relanie’s fingers tightened so hard on the edge of her couch that her manicured nails dug into the fabric. Her heart hammered against her chest, though her face still held a perfect mask of confusion.
It seemed some of her fans saw this because they started commenting again.
User35: "Relanie, don’t mind her. I know her. She’s a fan of Elara so it’s only natural for her to be spouting nonsense." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Starfall_Lover: "Still, all of what this idiot is saying doesn’t change the fact that Elara pushed our diva. That’s inhuman."
Mira_Loves_E: "Okay, we shall see."
User64: "But wait... I kinda believe what this Mira person is saying. Because if Relanie is really as good hearted as you all thought, then why is she going around claiming she twisted her ankle because of the push? Truly, if she had really forgave Elara, she isn’t supposed to be talking about all these."
Relanie had already lost interest in everything from the moment Mira appeared. Seeing a comment like this again, she lost it completely. She quickly cleared her throat, keeping her calm facade.
"I’m sorry everyone, I thought I was strong enough to do this, but with the weight of these accusations, I think I’ve reached my limit for today. If anyone wants to believe ’side door’ fairytales, you’re free to do so. But thank you to those who believe in my honesty."
She leaned forward to tap the end live button. "I’m ending this now," she said. "I hope you all have a better night than I’m having."
Then she ended it immediately. After doing so, she picked up the tab and threw it onto the nearby couch.
"Fuck," she muttered, breathing heavily. "Some people really don’t like minding their business."
She snorted coldly. Then she stood up and walked to the refrigerator, opened it, brought out a bottle of water, and gulped it down.
"Reine please, I want a full background check on Mira_Loves_E. I want to know who she is and where she works. She really doesn’t know the wrath she’s inviting by messing with me."
Reine’s lips pursed tightly for a long moment, then she nodded.

Mr. Vale stood by the window, his back to his wife who was sitting on the cushion.
"You see, I won’t pretend this doesn’t concern me anymore. Two months," he stated, not turning back. "Two months for Adrian to announce his engagement to Relanie."
He paused for a second, his tone turning firm. "Our business status depends on this union, and frankly, I’m tired of the delays."
Mrs. Vale finally looked up from the magazine in her hand.
"What do you mean, Relanie?" she asked softly, her brows furrowing. "You know all this will eventually become a problem. We both know Adrian doesn’t love her, and it will be quite troublesome for both of them."
"Love?" Mr. Vale scoffed, finally turning to look at her. "Relanie has adored him since they were children. It’s a perfect match for the cameras and the company. Apart from that, love is a luxury he can’t afford."
"You see, I can’t take this anymore." Mrs. Vale’s voice suddenly rose. "He is a human being not a corporate asset for God’s sake. Look, I’ve thought this through very carefully. I will not stand by and watch you force him into the same hollow hell of a marriage we had. At the very least, think of Relanie. What if the marriage doesn’t go well for her? Then the promise we made to her uncle to give her as much happiness and support we could would be broken. And moreover, Adrian has the right to choose who he loves."
Mr. Vale snorted at her words, looking at her with a strange expression.
"You said love," he repeated. "Can that cold, unfeeling son of yours even love someone?" He tilted his head, his gaze turning sharp. "Or do I know him better than you do now?"
Mrs. Vale’s expression turned grim and she moved closer to him without hesitation. "What does that mean?" she asked, staring at his face with an unreadable expression.
