Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 1047: Cry to Your Heart’s Content
"After coming back, I looked for you as well, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find you," Jerry Taylor said apologetically. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Emma Wells had left him very little information back then, and he wanted to find her to try to offer some compensation, but unfortunately...
Emma did not speak; back then, both of them could be considered innocent in what happened.
Besides, now that she knew Jerry Taylor’s identity, presumably he had no choice but to maneuver with those people back then.
Being able to plead for her was already quite a lot.
If he wasn’t careful and his identity was exposed, he would also be in danger.
"It’s all in the past, there’s no need to talk about it anymore." Emma Wells tucked the fallen strands of hair behind her ears and said with an open-hearted smile.
"That group was dissolved two years later, and all the members received the punishment they deserved." Jerry Taylor’s words stunned Emma as she looked up with widened eyes, suddenly brimming with tears.
What she couldn’t get past all these years was those people, why they were so vicious, treating human lives like blades of grass.
Finally, they met their karma.
Seeing the woman in front shedding tears, Jerry Taylor furrowed his brows slightly and handed her a tissue.
"Thank you." Emma Wells took the tissue and wiped her tears.
This man was still so gentle indeed.
He deliberately told her this to let her know that the revenge from back then was settled, and the pain she had held deep within her heart for over twenty years and dared not touch finally got a little release.
Jerry Taylor said nothing, simply accompanying Emma Wells quietly, letting her cry to her heart’s content.
Through investigation, he found out that over the years, Emma Wells lived strongly; being a single mother was a scandal, always surrounded by gossip, yet she continued to live strongly with her child.
"Can I go see Lucy?" Jerry Taylor softly asked.
Emma was momentarily struck dumb, staring blankly at Jerry.
Jerry quickly explained, "I don’t mean anything else; I don’t want to compete with you for Lucy. It’s just, my fatherly love has been delayed for more than twenty years, and I wish... I can’t call it compensation, because the past time can never be compensated. I just want to do what I can, to try and do something a father should do."
"Sure." Emma Wells readily answered, before quickly adding, "It’s not because of your identity, don’t misunderstand."
Jerry Taylor smiled, "I know."
"You’re a good woman."
Though now over fifty, Jerry Taylor was still well-maintained, with a slender and upright figure like tall pines and green cypresses; his gentle smile coupled with his elegant demeanor made him a charming mature gentleman.
"Shall I get you something to eat, or would you like to go out?" Jerry Taylor gently inquired of Emma Wells’ preference.
"I’ll go out, my mom is still outside." Emma Wells hastily said.
She couldn’t just sneak away for some quiet time; her mom outside would be worried sick.
Jerry Taylor’s eyes twinkled as he praised, "You’re truly a filial daughter and a good mother."
Feeling a bit embarrassed by Jerry Taylor’s compliment, Emma Wells could only smile before hurriedly leaving to return to Old Mrs. Wells’ table.
"Mom." Emma Wells sat down, and Old Mrs. Wells gave her daughter a look, clearly noticing she had cried, and asked worriedly, "What’s wrong?"
