Danny didn’t pay any mind to Zhou Xia’s bad temper. He extended his hand, his smile elegant and warm, "I’ll take you to see the Ling Flower."

Ling Flower?

Zhou Xia paused for a moment, glancing around before impatiently saying, "You’re fooling ghosts here; there’s no Ling Flower on this meadow. Also, here it’s called Snow Lotus, and how could there be any now?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"I know a place; I can feel it." Danny’s hand was still persistently extended, his gaze on Zhou Xia full of determination.

Zhou Xia hesitated for a moment; she knew Danny had some skills. Back when they were together, whenever she wanted something, he would make it happen.

See the Ling Flower?

Zhou Xia’s eyes darkened briefly, but finally, she placed her gloved hand in his palm. Danny smiled broadly, carefully enclosing Zhou Xia’s hand in his large one before leading her outside Qiaoze Ranch.

When their silhouettes disappeared through the ranch gate, the nosy pair Gu Qiaoqiao and Qin Yize retracted their gaze. After a few breaths, Gu Qiaoqiao asked eagerly, "Shall we follow them and take a look?"

Qin Yize gently pulled Gu Qiaoqiao back and softly denied, "It’s too cold outside, and Danny would never do anything harmful to Zhou Xia."

"Then why is he taking Zhou Xia out at night?" Gu Qiaoqiao asked bewilderedly.

Of course, Qin Yize didn’t know either. Carefully cradling Gu Qiaoqiao, he walked toward their room, saying along the way, "I have no idea; at least he’s not hurting her."

That much Qin Yize was confident about.

Gu Qiaoqiao knew as well and stopped probing after considering it. This was a private matter between Danny and Zhou Xia, and outsiders had no right to meddle.

Not even the two of them, nor was there any sign of movement from anyone else, including Zhou Xia’s father and mother.

The candle’s brightness wasn’t necessary under such lighting to read. After closing all the doors, Qin Yize blew out the candle and snuggled with Gu Qiaoqiao in the warmth of the huge bed, chatting softly between themselves about secrets exclusive to them, and the baby they were expecting.

In the winter landscape of the meadow, with snow everywhere, Danny took Zhou Xia not far before stopping on a hillside.

Zhou Xia looked around, surrounded by a blanket of white.

Not far away were snow-covered hills, with dried yellow wild grass swaying in the night breeze. It was supposed to be freezing, but somehow warmth continuously radiated from Danny’s palm, sparing Zhou Xia the chill of the winter night.

With her scarf once pulling tight around her chin, Zhou Xia now exposed her face and impatiently asked, "Just what are you showing me? Where’s the Ling Flower? Aside from snow, are we just watching snowflakes? That’s hardly special."

She wasn’t someone living in the tropics, so watching heavy snow didn’t interest her much.

"No matter what you see later, promise me you won’t be afraid, okay?" Danny gently requested.

Zhou Xia paused, looking at Danny warily.

"What do you plan to do?"

Without hesitation, Danny suddenly produced a small stick-like object from his hand. With a swipe through the night air, a circular bubble formed around them, enclosing the two tightly together.

Then, unexpectedly, from behind Danny dressed in his wool coat appeared two massive black wings. Reflecting against the snow, the color was deep, like splattered ink, and under the moonlight, there were black luminescent flows gently moving.

At this moment, Danny’s eyes seemed to change color, too. His focused gaze fell upon Zhou Xia’s face, where an undeniable depth of affection lay. Holding firmly onto Zhou Xia’s stunned hand, he softly said, "Xiaxia, I’ll take you to see the Ling Flower."

Zhou Xia had seen Danny’s wings before.

But never so striking as this time.

When together, Danny had called her Xiaxia not just once, but never had it resonated more like it did now.

The hand held by Danny was warm with heartfelt meaning, and the moment Danny’s enormous wings gently flapped overhead, they enveloped the two nicely together.

At this point, Zhou Xia suddenly wanted to retreat.

Narrowing her eyes, she began trying to withdraw her hand, wanting to return to her room, locking all this outside the door.

However, Danny’s hand, warm yet strong, knew Zhou Xia was struggling at this moment. He knew Zhou Xia didn’t want this, but he didn’t want to let go. It was his only chance in this lifetime; if he gave up, he’d have nothing left.

Let’s allow him this bit of selfishness.

"Don’t be afraid, Xiaxia, I’ll bring you back soon," he soothed Zhou Xia, even slyly using a touch of enchanting power.

Zhou Xia hesitated, chewing her lip as indecisiveness battled within her, frowning deeply, torn with difficulty.

With utmost effort, Danny concealed his inner reluctance, and as Zhou Xia wavered, he tightly held her hand, suddenly soaring into the air, wings fluttering toward where the Ling Flower was located.

Zhou Xia jumped with fright; she hadn’t expected to fly up so suddenly.

Involuntarily, she grabbed Danny’s arm with her other hand, shouting angrily, "Put me down, I don’t want to go."

Yet by this moment, they were already high above the ground.

Qiaoze Ranch, along with the houses in the East Yard and West Yard, had transformed beneath them into small buildings in an instant.

It ought to have been chilly winds cutting through, but enveloped in gas, it was warm like spring within.

Holding Zhou Xia’s hand, Danny gently reassured, "Relax, you won’t fall. The moon is lovely tonight; I’ll take you to see the winter landscape of the meadow."

Though Zhou Xia’s heart initially hung to her throat, she discovered it felt as though a gas cushioned her body. As the altitude increased from the ground, the feeling of flight became real, intense, and thrilling, sharpening Zhou Xia’s senses.

This sensation dimmed much of her anger.

After all, she’d never experienced such feelings before.

As a child, most would dream of sprouting wings to fly freely like a bird in the sky.

Perhaps this is every child’s dream.

While sitting on a plane might offer similar feelings after growing up, there’s nothing like this moment with Zhou Xia’s body.

Danny’s wings were large enough to encompass her back thoroughly, as if she too had grown a pair of wings.
