Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Qi Fei’s Airport Pickup

Wu Yun rode in the company’s new Mercedes S600L, enjoying a smooth drive all the way to the airport’s Terminal 2.

With a travel bag slung over his shoulder, Wu Yun followed the directions of an airport attendant and found the VIP channel.

Whether in his past life or this one, it was Wu Yun’s first time flying business class. He had wanted to buy a first-class ticket, but unfortunately, only the larger domestic planes had a first-class cabin. Medium-sized aircraft like the Boeing 737 typically only offered business class.

Wu Yun curiously sized up the VIP lounge. ’There’s not much to see, really,’ he thought. ’Just fewer people and more high-end amenities.’

As the broadcast announced information for the departing flight, an attendant in the lounge reminded the business class passengers to board.

Wu Yun followed the signs and quickly found his seat—a window seat on the right.

Feeling the softness of the leather seat, he realized it was so much more comfortable than economy class. Not only did it lack the cramped, crowded feeling, but the service was on another level.

And right on cue, a flight attendant offered to help Wu Yun with his backpack, stowing it in the overhead compartment.

"Sir, what would you like to drink?" the flight attendant asked, leaning in after stowing his bag.

"I’m fine for now, thank you. I’ll let you know if I need anything."

Wu Yun sat down, pulled out his phone, and reviewed the business plan for the company he was about to launch, adding a few new ideas as they came to him.

Wu Yun was so engrossed in his phone that he barely registered the person who sat down next to him, giving them only a quick glance.

Only when a flight attendant instructed passengers to turn off their phones or switch to airplane mode did Wu Yun put his phone away. He glanced at the man beside him—a middle-aged man in a sharp business suit, completely engrossed in a book.

Wu Yun glanced at the cover. It was a book on economics and investments. He immediately lost interest. ’What a joke!’ he thought. ’As a tycoon with a System, do I really need to read books like that?’

So, Wu Yun fastened his seatbelt, adjusted his seat into a comfortable recline, and quickly drifted off to sleep.

The rear wheels of the Boeing 737 touched down, kicking up a puff of smoke on the runway. The jolt of the landing startled Wu Yun awake.

He rubbed his eyes, wiping away the sleep from the corners, and returned his seat to the upright position, ready to deplane.

Once the plane came to a stop, Wu Yun waited for the elite-looking businessman next to him to grab his luggage and leave before standing up to retrieve his own backpack from the overhead compartment.

Since he had no checked luggage, Wu Yun quickly followed the signs toward the arrivals hall.

From a long way off, Wu Yun spotted a stunning sight at the arrivals gate.

Standing at the gate, Qi Fei was the most dazzling person in the crowd, like a lone flower in a field of grass.

Today, Qi Fei wore a form-fitting maxi dress that accentuated her tall, sexy figure. Combined with her exquisite features, she drew frequent glances from everyone around.

Spurred on by his friends’ encouraging looks, a tall young man summoned his courage and started walking toward Qi Fei.

But he had barely taken a few steps before he saw the goddess of his dreams run forward and leap into the arms of some pretty boy.

The pretty boy lifted her up and spun her around. With each rotation, the young man felt his heart twist in his chest.

The young man then trudged back to his friends, his face a picture of dejection.

After spinning Qi Fei around a few times, Wu Yun set her back on her feet.

Qi Fei cupped Wu Yun’s face in her hands. "Xiaoyunzi, you’ve gotten even more handsome! You must be popular with all the first-year girls at school, huh?"

"Not just the younger girls," Wu Yun said smugly. "The older ones like me too!"

As soon as he said that, Qi Fei leaned in and sniffed his shirt. Then, she plucked a long strand of hair from his shoulder.

Qi Fei feigned outrage. "Aha! So, Xiaoyunzi, you dare flirt with other women behind my back!"

Unfazed, Wu Yun took the hair from her, held it up against her own head for comparison, and chuckled. "Senior, this is obviously your hair! Trying to frame me, are you? You deserve to be punished!"

With that, Wu Yun gave Qi Fei a slap on the bottom. The crisp, clear sound made the young man in the distance—the one who’d wanted her number—wish he could trade places with Wu Yun.

Wu Yun took Qi Fei’s handbag, wrapped an arm around her waist, and said with a mischievous grin, "Senior, don’t go back home tonight!"

"No way! I know what you’re up to!" Qi Fei retorted, but her body leaned even closer into his embrace.

Wu Yun handed the bag back to her, pulled out his phone, and with one hand, opened the Meituan app. He navigated to the hotel section, selected the highly-rated Peace Restaurant, and booked their specialty River View Suite for seven nights at 6,000 yuan a night.

Seeing him book such an expensive hotel on the spot, Qi Fei asked, "Isn’t a suite that big a bit of a waste?"

While the money itself wasn’t an issue for her, she didn’t like being too extravagant.

"It’s fine. Since I came all the way to Modu, I want to spend some quality time with you. Besides, this amount of money is nothing to me!"

Qi Fei didn’t argue. She knew about the recent situation with Wu Yun’s Little Red Car app; the deposit in it was only growing larger, far more than when he had driven Song Qin and the others to the airport.

The two chatted about the past few days’ events as they walked to the parking lot. Wu Yun suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right, Senior! What did you think of the renovation plan I sent you the other day? Do we need to add anything?"

Qi Fei shook her head. "It’s already perfect. I think that voice control system is amazing. I can’t wait to move in." She had been very touched when Wu Yun had previously tried to list her as the villa’s owner, but she had tactfully refused, saying they should wait until they were married to put both their names on it.

"It’s too early to even think about moving in. We’ll probably have to wait until next year. Even though we used eco-friendly materials, we should let the place air out for three months just to be safe." Wu Yun recalled hearing about cases where people rushed into new homes and got leukemia. ’The thought alone is terrifying,’ he mused. ’Even with the System backing me up, it’s better to be safe than sorry.’ 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Sigh... I probably won’t get to spend much time in this house in the future," Qi Fei said with a sudden sigh.

Her words reminded Wu Yun that she was an up-and-coming actress. In the future, she would likely be traveling all over the country with film crews for movies and TV shows.

’But I have a brilliant plan for that,’ Wu Yun thought. The whole point of coming to Modu to start an entertainment company was to get that very problem under control. He could help Qi Fei secure roles, protect her from the industry’s "unspoken rules," and make a profit at the same time. It was a plan that killed three birds with one stone.

"Senior, if I’m your boss, you won’t have to worry about running all over the place! You can film wherever you want!" Wu Yun said, giving her waist a squeeze.

"In your dreams! Getting addicted to being a capitalist, are we? It’s not enough that you’ve already devoured me, now you want to squeeze every last drop of labor out of me too!" Qi Fei rolled her eyes at him.

Just then, Qi Fei led Wu Yun to a white Porsche 911. "So? What do you think? Isn’t my little froggy a beauty? Much better behaved than your little bull!"
