Rebirth in Showbiz: How to Win the Showbiz Emperor's Heart?
Chapter 572: Sister Yan, You Remembered?
The bookshelf was filled with thick photo albums.
The director flipped through for a while and took out an album, "Found it."
Tong Yan sat down on the sofa with the director, "Director, you’ve taken all these photos?"
The elderly director nodded and opened the album, "When I see a good scene, I take a photo, just to keep a memory."
She flipped through several pages, and Tong Yan was watching, when suddenly she spoke up, "Wait."
Tong Yan pointed to one of the photos and said in surprise, "Isn’t this me?"
The director leaned in, looked at it closely, then looked at her, then the person in the photo, and slapped his forehead, "Oh, my memory! If you hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have remembered. You used to visit often when you were little, but you haven’t changed much over the years. When you get old, you become useless..."
Sometimes a person’s memory gets stuck on a point, but once that point is figured out, memories flow into the mind endlessly.
The director seemed to open up, "... I remember there was a child who always clung to you before... where was it... Oh right, right here! He was called Little Tree. Are you still in touch with him?"
Little Tree?
Tong Yan thought about it but couldn’t recall anyone like that in her memories. She shook her head, "We’re not in touch anymore."
She didn’t even know him, so how could there be any contact.
The director sighed, "This kid said he wanted to become a star when he grew up and perform for the orphanage as a charity. Could it be Wen Shu?"
A star, an orphanage, charity performances—at first glance, it did seem a lot like Wen Shu.
But she remembered that Wen Shu was a child of the Wen Family, and their status in S City was top-notch. How could they be connected to an orphanage?
Tong Yan looked down at the child in the photo. The more she looked, the more it seemed he bore a slight resemblance to Wen Shu.
The features, the contour, there indeed was some similarity.
"Director, Sister Yan."
Tong Yan looked up and saw Wen Shu standing at the door. He was backlit by the sunlight, appearing almost crystalline, like a boy straight out of a comic, with a warm smile, clear and pure.
Even after being in the entertainment industry for so long, it seemed he hadn’t changed. He was still the same.
Tong Yan looked at him and blurted out, "Are you Little Tree?"
Wen Shu was taken aback. His calm expression gradually turned to surprise, smiling with his eyes, "Sister Yan, you remembered?"
Tong Yan was bewildered, "Remembered what?"
Wen Shu hesitated, "How does Sister Yan know about Little Tree?"
"The director told me. Come here. We even have a photo together." Tong Yan chuckled and motioned him to come over.
Wen Shu’s heart suddenly turned cold, as if he were in an ice cellar, chilled to the bone, with a cold wind blowing, like a roller coaster ride, rising and falling.
In that moment, he even somewhat blamed his Sister Yan for not remembering, for forgetting him, for making him wait for so long...
But, in the end, he just smiled slightly, "Sister Yan was so cute back then."
His words meant that he had indeed been at the orphanage when he was young. But why didn’t she remember at all? So many memories, yet the memory of that year when she was eight was missing.
Could something have happened back then?
No matter how Tong Yan tried, she couldn’t remember. It was as if there was a wall keeping her from the truth. But she couldn’t get past it to find out.
Wen Shu saw her confused expression. Even if his heart was in pain, he still couldn’t bear it and softly said, "Sister Yan, the charity performance is about to start."
