Reborn as a Landlord
Chapter 1823 - 930: Nameless Valley
"Alright." Shen Liu looked at Lian Manman, his eyes sparkling. After a moment, he also smiled slightly.
"Sixth Master is a man of his word, once you say something, even four horses can’t chase it back." Lian Manman immediately said.
Seeing Lian Manman smiling, her eyes bright and somewhat smug, Shen Liu couldn’t help but find it amusing. He had carried the weight of many people since childhood, his determination stronger than anyone’s. He had an innate advantage, which also nurtured his unique authoritative demeanor. He was used to giving orders and having others obey, never the other way around.
However, in front of Lian Manman, Shen Liu was willing to lower his stance, indulging her little pride.
"Oh dear," Shen Liu deliberately frowned and said, "you haven’t even asked what the penalty is, how could you agree to it? Isn’t that a loss for you!"
Lian Manman knew Shen Liu was joking to make her happy, and she couldn’t help but laugh again.
"You’ve already agreed, it’s too late to back out now." Lian Manman hastily said, "What’s that beautiful thing? Quickly take me to see it."
Lian Manman couldn’t help but be curious. Shen Liu had a high standard, so she wondered what kind of surprise would come from what he considered beautiful.
"Alright." Shen Liu responded with a smile, as he held the reins of the White Horse and urged his own horse, turning towards the gentle slope on the left.
Soon, they reached the top of the gentle slope.
"Manman, look!" Shen Liu raised his hand, pointing to the slope below.
"Ah!" Lian Manman’s eyes immediately widened, stunned by the sudden scenery, and she couldn’t help but utter a gasp of astonishment.
Below the slope, the frost-lit forest surrounded a pool of emerald water amidst the blooming mountains, looking like a flawless jade set in a colorful crown.
"There’s actually such a lake here!" After a while, Lian Manman finally reacted.
"How is it, beautiful right?" Noticing Lian Manman’s loss of words, knowing she was captivated by the stunning scenery, Shen Liu said with a slight sense of pride.
Thinking about the bet they made earlier, Lian Manman just smiled and refused to speak.
Seeing Lian Manman like this, Shen Liu didn’t press further, instead inviting her to join him down the valley to take a closer look at the lake.
"From above, you’re still unconvinced, let’s go down to the valley, take a closer look, and you’ll know I’m not fooling you." Shen Liu said.
In such a beautiful place, of course, Lian Manman was reluctant to leave just like that, so she nodded.
Shen Liu urged the White Horse, riding alongside Lian Manman. Both horses seemed familiar with the path, leisurely making their way down into the valley. Approaching the lakeside, there was a rather wide white sandy beach. Along the water’s edge, many tall trees and weeds grew, and the shallow waters were filled with large patches of reeds.
Stopping their horses by the shore, Lian Manman looked at the water for a long time without speaking. Presumably unpolluted and rarely visited, the lake in the valley was exceptionally clear, with fallen tree trunks and more areas covered with red leaves, reflecting the blue sky and white clouds.
Standing by the lakeside for a while, the cool autumn breeze and the scenic view of the mountains and waters made all worries forgotten, bringing a sense of tranquility and joy.
"Mortal Fairyland..." Lian Manman muttered to herself.
Just then, Shen Liu’s White Horse stomped its front hoof and snorted loudly. Immediately, a rustling sound was heard, and Lian Manman looked towards the sound, seeing a stir in the reeds not far away. Flocks of wild ducks and birds took flight, fleeing towards the center of the lake.
It turned out there was a group of small creatures living in this tranquil nature, making Lian Manman laugh again.
"What do you think?" Unlike Lian Manman, Shen Liu wasn’t lost in the beauty of the scenery, his eyes almost never left her.
"Hmm..." Lian Manman deliberately pondered. She wanted to say that Shen Liu had lost and should accept the penalty, but in such a scene, she found it hard to say it was a lie, "It’s barely passable."
"You little girl, standing on my head now." Shen Liu saw Lian Manman being stubborn, trying to act tough, and squinted his eyes as if reclaiming his authority, but unfortunately, the amusement in his eyes betrayed him.
Of course, Lian Manman wasn’t afraid of Shen Liu, she turned her horse around and rode along the lakeside. Shen Liu immediately followed, catching up to her, and they continued riding side by side.
Both let go of the reins, letting the horses roam freely. This valley wasn’t very large, and it didn’t take long for Lian Manman to grasp its entirety. It turned out this pool of water was formed by mountain streams flowing down from the surrounding mountains. On several cliffs, waterfalls of various sizes could be seen, adding more charm to the valley.
