Reborn as a Landlord
Chapter 1859 - 948: Planning and Discussion
Lady Li, Lady Zhang Wang, and Zhang Caiyun all busily asked Lady Zhang what they could do to help prepare for Wu Lang’s marriage.
"There’s nothing else needed, you’ve already been a great help," said Lady Zhang.
Lady Zhang’s words were true. Now the Lian Manman family was in Prefecture City, and houses were being built at the old residence. Besides their own steward, thanks were due to Wu Yugui, Wu Jiaxing and his son, and also several from the Lu Family and Son who helped oversee and manage things.
There was not much need to mention Lady Li, who had always lived at the old residence, helped with watching over the house, and managed some of the back residence affairs. Zhang Qingshan had also brought Zhang Qingnian and Zhang Yannian over to help with labor; the wood used for the buildings had been procured thanks to Zhang Qingshan’s old friends who assisted with the search and selection.
All the relatives contributed tangibly, and the Lian Manman family was well aware of it.
"Now that the date is set, in December, everyone will have less to do then and can go," Lady Zhang smiled and said.
"Go early and stay a few days, explore Prefecture City well," Lian Manman also invited with a smile, "We have enough empty rooms in Prefecture City for everyone to stay comfortably."
"...My mother has been talking about this for a long time, wanting to invite everyone. Worried there wasn’t a reason, people would be reluctant to leave their matters at home and unwilling to come. Now, with my brother’s marriage as the reason, even if there are things at home, we must set them aside for a couple days to come visit us."
"This is a major event in Wu Lang’s life, we absolutely have to go," Lady Wu Wang said, "You chose this time well, it’s when there’s not much going on... even if there’s something, Wu Lang’s matter takes precedence!"
Lian Zhizhi just smiled without saying a word, of course she wanted to go to Prefecture City, but was hesitant to speak up herself. Now that Lady Wu Wang mentioned it, it was exactly what she wanted.
"That’s right, your whole family should go, and find someone to watch the house," Lady Zhang said happily.
"Yes, we’re all going," Lady Wu Wang also smiled, "Honestly, I’ve never been to Prefecture City. In our family, only Jiaxing and his father have been there, neither Zhizhi nor I have. Also, Dabao, we’ll take him to see the city too."
Lady Zhang Wang and Zhang Caiyun naturally wanted to go, but Lady Zhang Wang had to listen to Lady Li, and as for Zhang Caiyun, she was a bit downcast. She was still in her confinement period, and even if she could count down to the twentieth of December, she’d just be out of confinement, still unable to travel far.
"If we had the baby a few days earlier, then we, mother and child, could have also gone to the city to see your Aunt," Zhang Caiyun said wistfully, pointing at the baby.
"You can’t go; even if you had given birth a month or two earlier, you still wouldn’t be able to go. At that time, let your mother-in-law and sister-in-law go if they’re free," Lady Zhang laughed.
Lady Zhang Wang showed anticipation, just waiting for Lady Li to speak.
"Mother, you and Father must come, along with his Uncle and Cousin. You should all find someone to watch the house ahead of time. You can stay at our place for several days," Lady Zhang then said to Lady Li.
"We all want to go," Lady Li said slowly, "but someone must stay to watch the house. Those two little ones are too young, taking them on a long trip is too troublesome."
When Lady Li mentioned the two little ones, she wasn’t referring to Xiao Long and Xiao Hu. Over the last two years, Lady Zhang Wang and Lady Hu had both gotten pregnant again, each giving birth to a son who was less than one year old, smaller than Dabao.
It wouldn’t be much trouble for the Wu Family to bring just Dabao, but for the Zhang Family to go, they’d have to bring four children, especially the two less than a year old, which was indeed troublesome. Now the Zhang Family couldn’t afford to be short-handed, as evidenced by this time, when they got Lady Zhang Wang out, but Lady Hu had to stay home to take care of the two children.
Lady Zhang Wang loved a lively atmosphere and very much hoped to go to Prefecture City, but she also understood that Lady Li was correct.
"Mother, then I’ll stay behind, you all go, let the second daughter-in-law go too," Lady Zhang Wang said, "It’ll be just me and Caiyun, we two will definitely have another chance. When the time comes, we’ll both go together."
The first part of the sentence was a gesture of cordiality between sisters-in-law. The latter part, said in front of Lady Zhang and Lian Manman, was sincere and open.
Lady Zhang originally hoped everyone could go this time, so she tried to persuade again, but Lady Li remained firm, and Lady Zhang stopped mentioning it. After all, with two very young children, even if she arranged for someone else to help take care of them, she’d worry about oversight. Moreover, thinking if it were her, she definitely wouldn’t go either.
