Reborn as a Mechanist with a God-Tier System
Chapter 422: A new ability?
To his mind, 4 months ago felt just like yesterday, but his body didn’t feel the same way that his mind did.
Leon didn’t know how much his body missed her till he actually went at it.
’D-damn... she’s so ferocious...!’
In the end, they ended up spending the entire day on the bed, rotating between being intimate, bathing, or sleeping. By the time it ended and they really had a good sleep to rest, it was already night.
Outside the velvet curtains covering the long windows of the hotel, a bioluminescent mist already covered the world.
’I wonder what causes the mist,’ Leon thought, idly caressing Tyla’s hair. ’Is it because of the neon storms in the sky?’
Compared to 8 months ago when he just woke up in this world, he already learned and knew a lot of things now. But the more he learned, the more Leon realized that there were still lots of things that he didn’t know yet about this world.
Not just him, there were a lot of things that even natives like Ren Nora and others didn’t know about this world, specifically this era.
Things like the weather and the sky of Neo-Tokara; no one knew what the cause actually is.
Due to certain vague and undisclosed reasons centuries ago, the Omnicore Federation banned interstellar exploration and development which is the only reason why despite how advanced current Neo-Tokara was, there were no spaceships in the world.
The Omnicore Federation was the only force in the world with a little presence in space, and Ren Nora already learned that it was a single outpost.
And that single outpost still didn’t shed any light into the mystery of why neon storm clouds filled the sky at day and a bioluminescent mist engulfed the world at night.
From what Ren Nora told him some time ago, even the Omnicore Federation didn’t know the true reason for certain natural patterns of the world.
Even in space outside the planet, the void was covered by thick clusters of bioluminescent neon clouds that resembled a mixture of day and night inside Neo-Tokara.
That was unscientific from the little that Leon remembered, but when had anything about Neo-Tokara ever been scientific?
In space, the only thing that the Federation’s outpost could see in the distant cosmos covered with neon storm clouds is the distant moon, and even the moon is not safe in this era.
From the classified documents of the Omnicore Federation, the moon is now a giant breeding ground for Neon Beasts and is occupied by an especially harrowing abomination, a B Rank Neon Beast.
The Federation astronauts and space scientists didn’t really know the true rank of the beast, but they were not willing to entertain the thought that an A Rank Neon Beast was living that close to them so they labeled it B Rank.
The thought of the ghastly abominations living in space was not exactly the way Leon expected to end the day after such a memorable experience.
’Positive thoughts only... positive thoughts only...’ he chanted in his mind.
And well, it worked.
The thought of ghastly abominations swiftly left his mind and in its place, other thoughts filled his mind, thoughts of himself.
Leon didn’t want to think about the ChronoSystem, the mere thought of it left him aching every single time. Another reason why he was avoiding it was because he didn’t want to entertain the thought of losing the ChronoSystem forever.
The system was his only hope in this world, it was his driving force, it was his last and only clue towards regaining his lost memories.
It was his last hope towards filling the holes in his memories.
Leon sighed. ’But in the end, I can’t stop thinking about it’.
This is because by now, after spending so many hours since waking up already, he finally felt the changes in his body.
As a D Rank Ascended, though he really didn’t have the time to truly experience his body’s current power, limit, and thresholds and understand it to the minute details yet, due to his enhanced senses Leon still knew his body.
This was why he was able to detect the change after many hours of paying attention to his body despite the absence of the ChronoSystem to explain everything to him.
Having sex is another way of exercising the body, and through it, Leon realized that his mind to body coordination improved.
As a D Rank Ascended, it was already incredible before, far beyond normal human thresholds, but after hours of observing it he was sure that his mind to body coordination improved again.
’Is this due to the fight with General Sylvari?’
’Did surviving a minute against him result in an upgrade in my body? Or a system reward, maybe?’
’But if it’s a system reward, the ChronoSystem is currently inactive, so how? Or...’
His eyes narrowed. ’Can I enjoy some system-related boons even with the ChronoSystem inactive?’
He wasn’t sure but he had an evidence to support his theory.
With the ChronoSystem inactive, he couldn’t access system benefits like the Snooping Tool and others, but he still vividly remembered the knowledge of the 2 blueprints that he got in the wake of Operation Killing Joe 4 months ago.
He also remembered the details of the incomplete B Rank blueprint that he created in his desperate battle for survival in a dreamscape against a Fluxmancer, including every single blueprint in his repertoire.
Thinking about that battle still made Leon wince, that was without doubt the most lethal and hopeless battle of his life so far apart from the battle against General Sylvari Charr.
It was a perfect ambush by the assassin, Leon was only alive due to a combination of luck, defiance, and fierce willpower.
Leon thought back on the boon to his mind to body coordination. ’If this is truly a boon that’s active without the ChronoSystem, I wonder what it is’.
’Is it a new ability? A racial trait?’
He thought of Stalwart but then he shook his head. Instinctively, even without confirmation from the ChronoSystem, Leon knew that the miraculous trait that saved his life against Sylvari was a one-time boon and was long gone.
Afterall, it was why the ChronoSystem was still inactive despite 4 months later. It must have required a lot of energy from it to give him that trait. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Leon sighed, then he looked at Tyla who was sleeping in his arms one last time before gently pushing her aside and standing up from the bed.
He accessed the wardrobe where he began changing into normal clothes, wearing a pair of black joggers, a black polo shirt and black leather boots.
He sensed Tyla stretching in the bed, then he heard her voice.
"Where are you going? It’s already late".
Leon answered without turning to look at her.
"I’m going to visit the General".
