Reborn As Super Heiress
Chapter 1969 - 1872: How Many Zeros
As soon as Huo Sining and her partner returned to the room, Su Qingqing and her group heard the commotion and rushed over eagerly, each staring wide-eyed at her. Su Qingqing anxiously inquired, "How did it go?"
Because Gu Xu had returned to the room earlier to take some suitcases and left again, Su Qingqing’s group came to ask Qibao for information. From Qibao’s mouth, they learned that Huo Sining and her husband met Windsor Reed to discuss the resale of diamonds, so now everyone was eagerly looking at Huo Sining, wanting to know from her if the transaction had been successful.
"The suitcases aren’t here, which means the deal was successful!"
Li Jun was sharper-eyed than the others. He noticed that Huo Sining and her partner returned empty-handed, and what could fit in Huo Sining’s backpack at most were things like a wallet or phone, certainly not those diamonds, so he was confident the deal was successful.
The other people heard Li Jun’s words and immediately nodded in agreement.
Huo Sining smiled, took out a contract from her backpack, and handed it to the group.
The group immediately gathered around, with Su Qingqing being the fastest to grab and open the contract.
The contract had the names of Huo Sining and Windsor Reed signed, along with their fingerprints, and most importantly, there was a staggering number written in the center of the last page.
"Sister Shu Wen, you... quickly, help me count how many zeros are there? I... I can’t count them!"
Su Qingqing, upon seeing that number, widened her eyes and stammeringly yelled at Yue Shuwen.
Yue Shuwen and Li Jun looked no better than Su Qingqing; their pupils constricted as they stared dazedly at the contract in Su Qingqing’s hand, and after a while, they raised their heads to stammer at Huo Sining, "Three... three hundred and fifty million?"
Huo Sining nodded affirmatively, and made sure to emphasize, "In US dollars."
Su Qingqing’s mouth formed an O shape as she shouted to Qibao beside her, "Qibao, you... pinch me, am I dreaming?"
Qibao obediently nodded, reached out, and pinched Su Qingqing hard on her thigh, causing Su Qingqing to cry out in pain, her face twisted, and she glared at Qibao resentfully, "Couldn’t you be gentler?"
Qibao blinked innocently, "You asked me to pinch you, you can’t blame me."
Su Qingqing was momentarily speechless, left glaring at the little guy.
Qibao made a humming sound and turned her head away, ignoring her.
Huo Sining ignored the bickering pair. As soon as she entered the room, she eagerly called Zhou Shitao.
"Master, you haven’t gone to sleep yet."
Zhou Shitao answered the phone quickly, picking up after two rings. Upon hearing Huo Sining’s question, he responded with a mild "hmm" and after hesitating for a moment, couldn’t help but ask, "Did you sell the items?"
Although Huo Sining had not explicitly stated it, after the auction ended, Huo Sining suddenly stopped Windsor Reed and said she wanted to talk with him. Zhou Shitao guessed what his apprentice wanted to do, so he hadn’t gone to sleep yet, waiting for Huo Sining to call him.
Huo Sining wasn’t surprised by Zhou Shitao guessing this. After all, Zhou Shitao was a person who had lived for sixty or seventy years. It wouldn’t be easy to hide her little thoughts from her master, and she never intended to hide it, so she straightforwardly admitted:
"Yes, sold them all to Windsor Reed. The money should be in place by tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, we can bring the Beast Heads back to the country."
Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Zhou Shitao breathed a long sigh of relief. Although the auction had ended and they had successfully bid, until the Beast Heads were transferred, their hearts remained restless and uneasy.
Now hearing that the money would be in place by tomorrow, Zhou Shitao’s eyes couldn’t help but show a hint of a smile.
Why did they, a group of old men, travel to Philadelphia so tirelessly? Wasn’t it for these two Beast Heads?
If they ended up empty-handed and returned home embarrassed, they’d certainly be laughed at by their colleagues for a lifetime. He couldn’t become a sinner to the nation; he had to bring both Beast Heads back safely!
"As soon as the money arrives, contact the auction house immediately, don’t wait until the day after tomorrow!"
Zhou Shitao stated directly, understanding the dangers of procrastination better than anyone. Philadelphia, after all, was not Huaxia’s territory; he didn’t want to stay around any longer to prevent any unforeseen incidents.
Huo Sining naturally understood Zhou Shitao’s concerns, so she agreed, "Okay, I understand. You should rest early; everything can wait until tomorrow."
After hanging up the phone, when Huo Sining turned around, she saw Su Qingqing and her group still sitting in her room, looking as if they were prepared for a dire threat, which made her find the situation quite amusing.
"What are you doing?"
Su Qingqing posed as if ready to fight at a moment’s notice: "This contract is worth three hundred and fifty million, and the money hasn’t arrived yet. I think we can’t let our guard down. What if Windsor Reed regrets it at the last moment and sends people to assassinate you or snatch the contract back? So, to ensure nothing goes wrong, we’re all prepared to stay in your room tonight, just one night without sleep, to make sure you and the contract are safe!"
Li Jun also nodded seriously, his eyes fixated on Huo Sining and the contract on the coffee table.
Upon hearing Su Qingqing’s words, Huo Sining found it both funny and exasperating: "Alright, can you not be so dramatic? It’s just a contract. Is there any need to be so anxious?"
With that, Huo Sining reached out to usher everyone out of the room:
"Go sleep like normal; don’t fuss with me. That alone will help me a lot. Dear brothers and sisters, have mercy, and let me sleep for a bit, alright? These past few days, I’ve been so tense that I’m almost at my limit!"
Being pushed out of the door, Su Qingqing still wanted to protest, but Huo Sining was in no mood to argue any further and simply closed the door.
Facing a shut door, Su Qingqing muttered in irritation, "Ningning is really careless. If something goes wrong, what’ll we do?"
"Stop jinxing it."
Beside her, Yue Shuwen couldn’t help but tap Su Qingqing on the forehead, "Bad luck is more likely to come true, so stop with the doom-talking! Ningning has Gu Xu with her, and no matter what, he’s a special forces soldier, so does she need your protection? Just don’t cause trouble, that would already be helpful!"
Hearing Yue Shuwen’s remarks, Su Qingqing sheepishly laughed twice and obediently went back to her room to rest.
