Chapter 23: 23- Bathroom Threat

Sienna didn’t miss the threat in his voice.

Break the door down? Seriously? And what would he tell his rich friend for damaging his property?

She curled into a ball and started taking deep breaths. Cramps were still pulsing in her lower belly.

In her school, she was popular as the period girl. A girl who used to get pale during her period and had to visit the medical room for a painkiller.

"Sienna!" She didn’t miss the steel in Hunter’s voice. Her blood-soaked trousers were laid on the floor, and she needed to change into clean panties before facing him.

She had already inserted the tampon, but now this pain wasn’t even letting her move.

When she had assumed that Hunter had left and her room was now empty, there was a loud thud on her bathroom door.

Her eyes went wide when she realized what was happening.

"Hunter!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, "No!"

He was ramming the door again and again, and the wood was literally groaning under the force.

Horrified, she looked around for trousers or anything to appear decent. Nothing!

Her gaze landed on the towel that could be used to cover her legs when, suddenly, the door splintered open.

"Hunter, no!" She tried to keep her voice steady.

What will happen next? He will notice the blood and will leave me here. And then the seven-day punishment will start.

Her tear-filled eyes rose to the man, who seemed shocked to find her sprawled on the bathroom floor.

"I think we need to take her to the hospital," Hunter barked at Brian, and Sienna’s face snapped up.

Hospital?

"N...no... why... I’m..." The rest of her words got swallowed when she was lifted with practiced ease, and Hunter carried her out. "You are driving the car," He told Brian.

For the first time in her life, Sienna had almost forgotten about her pain, "Wait. Why are we going to the hospital? It’s... the usual..."

Hunter kept walking until they reached the car. Sienna held his face and got flustered when her palm touched his rough cheeks, "Hunter... It’s okay... I... I...just need a painkiller."

This time, he did hear her. Because he went still for a moment and slowly turned his head to look at her pale face. Like really looking at her.

She nodded her head and tried to smile.

"Just a painkiller?" He asked her, and she nodded again.

"Yeah..." Her eyes felt heavy and swollen due to constant crying, "You should put me down otherwise..." She trailed off when she saw him still watching her face from behind his shades.

When she didn’t speak, he cocked up a brow questioningly.

"This might ruin your clothes... Hunter," She whispered.

Hunter was standing there, looking at her face in confusion, maybe trying to decide what he should do.

Sienna found herself staring at him when he helped her put on a decent dress. He even turned away to give her some privacy when she changed her panties.

Yet she felt ashamed when he took her stained clothes outside the room. The floor didn’t have the stain anymore. He had already cleaned it.

After a few minutes, when he returned, he was balancing a huge tray.

He placed it on the bed before her, and Sienna was taken by surprise when she saw what was on it.

A glass of water, a painkiller sitting neatly on a napkin, chocolates, a pack of crackers, and a small bowl of mixed fruit. There was also a heating pad, tissues, and a fresh set of tampons.

She stared at the tray and then at him.

Who serves tampons on a tray? She asked herself and then got the answer too.

The ones who don’t lock the menstruating women.

"I wasn’t sure what you’d like," He said quietly, "So I got a bit of everything."

Sienna thought she heard him wrong. Without explaining himself anymore, he bent ahead and picked up the heating pad, "Place it under your t-shirt, sugar."

Sienna gulped her saliva and took the bag from his hands. She felt embarrassed.

No one in her life, except Lina, had shown her this much care.

She belonged to a conservative family where it was a sin to talk about her period to a man.

A soft sigh left her lips as she pressed the bag against her belly. Her gaze lingered on him as he offered her a pill along with water.

For a fleeting moment, Sienna thought she was dreaming. None of it was real.

Everything was already on the tray, but now he was making sure that she took the medicine. In this day and age, who does that?

Apparently, a man who is jobless and has nothing important to do in his life.

The answer that came from her heart couldn’t convince her. She was too distracted to look away from his handsome face.

"What!" His amused voice pulled her out of her thoughts, "Still thinking about my eye color?"

She couldn’t answer him. The only word that slipped from her mouth was, "Hunter."

It came out in a whisper, but he heard her.

"Hmm," He busily adjusted the blanket over her, "Let me know if you need anything, menace. Just send a message. Okay?"

God! She couldn’t even nod.

He was about to walk away when she quickly held his wrist, "Hunter..."

He halted, clearly waiting for her to speak. His eyes seemed to be searching her face from behind those dark glasses.

"Hey, menace. What is it?"

She tried to smile, then squeezed his hand. "Thank you."

She wished she could tell him that she was using a bed... a comfortable bed during menstruation after a very long time.

Except for her pregnancy days.

That too, without an ounce of fear of getting hit or dragged to the bathroom.

Hunter huffed a low chuckle as he ruffled her hair.

Was it affection that she witnessed on his face?

"Get some rest," He moved back her hair gently, "You can’t conquer the world when you’re not well."

His words kept echoing long after he left the room.

Sienna curled into her blanket and smiled to herself. After four years, she was no longer scared of the pain, and the bathroom no longer felt like a threat.
