Chapter 31: 31- Extra cheese

"Hunter,"

Hunter was passing through the lobby when he heard Nora calling him. He shot her a questioning gaze, and an uncomfortable smile appeared on her face.

"Our lawyer... Sam..."

He didn’t let her speak, "You mean our ex-lawyer?"

She giggled and nodded at him, "Yeah. The ex-lawyer... he wants to talk to Madam Boss."

Sienna had been busy since morning, making phone calls to different investors. Nora or anyone else wasn’t allowed to approach her today.

"Anyone who wants to talk to her? They speak to me first. Someone interested in meeting her? He or she has to go through me. Got it?"

The way he explained in a no-nonsense tone, Nora was impressed.

In all honesty, sometimes she felt like Madam Boss’s husband seemed more like a boss. Her colleagues also agreed with this notion.

In their eyes, Madam Boss was lucky to have such a hottie husband. The way he carried himself with his Bluetooth device attached to his ear felt like he owned the place.

She had always been a lazy person who never liked waking up early morning. But now?

Now every morning she wanted to wake up and get ready to look nice for him. Hunter was still there, skimming through the pages of an account book, when the phone on the counter started ringing.

"Hello," Her voice switched to the professional mode in an instant, "Mason Traders."

"Nora!" Sam’s pissed voice came out of the earpiece, "Don’t you dare hang up the phone on me. I’m going to challenge this termination letter soon. Let your madam boss know that..." She raised her eyes and found Hunter looking at her.

He raised a brow, asking her silently if it was Sam. With a nod, Nora handed over the receiver to him.

Hunter kept listening to Sam for about a minute who kept complaining about Madam boss and kept threatening to take her to court.

Nora couldn’t look away when Hunter fixed his glasses on his nose and moved his tongue inside his cheek.

"Sam!" At last, he spoke, "You little piece of shit," There was ice-coldness in his voice, "Go to the court, and I’ll make sure that your pictures are plastered on every newspaper, on every social media channel. If you love your filthy tongue, then never utter my wife’s name, or I’ll cut it and shove it up your ass. Now fu*ck off and let us work, you fu*cker!"

With that, he slammed the receiver, making Nora jump in her seat.

Man! She was impressed. The guy had an aura. Every move he made used to scream of power and quiet authority.

Almost like a king who knew when to draw his sword and attack.

She looked sideways and found a few staff members staring at him, but he didn’t give a damn. He adjusted his cufflinks quite casually. His movements were calculated and controlled.

Nora swallowed hard. Men like him didn’t just hold power.

They were power.

While sitting in the passenger seat after a hectic schedule, Sienna could feel Hunter turning his head to look at her.

She sighed deeply, rolling her eyes, "What?" She, at last, turned in her seat to face him, "Shoot it, Hunter."

He moved the steering wheel with a smirk, "Nothing, menace."

Her eyes turned razor sharp as she regarded him with a skeptical look, "How do you manage to see through these dark shades at night?"

He chuckled without looking at her, "You..."

"Shut up!" She raised her index finger to warn him, "I. Am. NOT. Interested. In. Your. Eye. Color!"

She folded her arms on her chest and straightened in her seat. Lina was right when she asked her to bring in Hunter Levisay.

She could see how female workers were always attentive in his presence. Especially Nora. The rude receptionist wasn’t rude anymore in his presence.

He was slowly taking over the responsibilities and was proving to be a good and efficient secretary.

When the car stopped, she looked out of the window and realized this wasn’t home.

"Hunter... this..." She tried to say something, but Hunter raised his finger just as she did. The only difference was the faint smile on his face, "Listen, sugar. I think we both need this."

With a confused frown, she looked back outside the window and noticed the pizza joint.

You like cheese? Eat it!

A voice from the past spoke in her head, and along with it were memories of her cruel ex-husband, who was stuffing her mouth with tons of cheese. Just because he caught her once having pizza with Lina.

She swallowed, forcing herself to meet his gaze behind those shades, "P...pizza?"

"Yeah. They offer the best pizza in town," He killed the engine and then got out of the car. Sienna saw him rounding the car, approaching the passenger door.

He opened the door for her and then offered her his hand to help her out.

While entering the café, she could still taste the cheese in her mouth that she had started hating in her last life.

"Any preferences?" Hunter asked her when the waiter came to get their order.

Her throat tightened as she glanced up at the waiter a little cautiously. She could feel Hunter’s eyes on her face and was trying hard to appear confident.

"I ... umm..." She cleared her throat and offered him a broken smile, "Fajita flavor... No capsicum..." She met Hunter’s eyes, "Crispy crust... and..."

"And?" Hunter asked her gently.

She shrugged indifferently, followed by a low laugh, "That’s it."

Hunter cocked up a brow, "That’s it?" For some reason, the man didn’t look convinced.

With a nod, she returned the menu to the waiter.

Come on, Sienna. Be brave. Tom is not in your life anymore. You’re a free woman now. The man sitting across from you is Hunter Levisay. Your contract husband.

He is paid to take care of you. What are you scared of?

Deep down, someone was trying to put some sense into her.

"Excuse me," Suddenly her hand raised to motion the waiter, "Add some extra cheese too."

The friendly waiter turned around and nodded at her, "Sure, ma’am. Got it. Extra cheese."
