After agreeing to be Shinzo’s disciple for as long as it took for him to master his Qi flow. The words of the wise old Sage continued to play over and over in his head.

’If you want to train with me, you must cultivate—the right way, the only way.’

’System.’ The boy thought.

<Yes, Host>

’Now that you are done recalibrating, I would like to switch my growth method back to Qi cultivation.’

<You no longer wish to continue with EXP growth?>

’Not right now.’

<Affirmative, Host>

<Switching back to default growth method>

<Successful!>

The sun had dipped below the horizon and there was a faint smell of dew in the air. The great Sage had fallen back into a deep slumber and Xenia had just returned from a bath.

’Phew, now that that’s done, the only thing left is..." he looked at Xenia, who was in a corner drying off her hair, then his eyes darted around to the giant sleeping tortoise.

"Oh, that’s right, I still haven’t written a letter back to mother and father." He immediately remembered.

He sat down on the ground and crossed his legs, leaning his back on the tortoise’s shell, the one he previously assumed was a giant rock.

He searched and finally pulled out a piece of paper and pen from his infinite storage space.

"How convenient, hehe." He joked as he placed the paper on his lap and tapped the pen on his head.

’Ok. How do I start this...’ he mused for a bit, biting the tip of the pen lightly.

After a moment of pondering he finally wrote:

_ _ _

Dear Mother and Father,

I received your letter a few days ago, though I only found the time to sit down and properly write back to the both of you today.

I will admit, I have read your letter more than once. And I miss you both so very much, it warms my heart to know you both are thinking of me everyday, As I think of you.

The journey has been far more interesting than either of you prepared me for. I have met some very strange and interesting people, some even tried to rob me. I have discovered things that make the stories told within the clan seem boring by comparison.

I am currently in the Ten Thousand Beast Forest, but there is no need for either of you to worry, for I am with Xenia and I am also taking very good care of my self, I encountered the Great Sage Shinzo, and I will be training with him for a while before I leave.

Father, you said that strength is measured by what one chooses to protect.

I have been thinking about that a lot.

The stronger I become, the more I realize how much responsibility comes with power. There are people who use strength to dominate others, and there are those who use it to create opportunities for those beneath them. When I return, I hope to be the latter.

Mother, I am eating properly.

Before you accuse me of lying, I would like to point out that surviving in the wilderness requires a healthy appetite. Granted, some of the things I have eaten would probably make you faint, but food is food.

And yes, I have made friends.

Well... friend.

Maybe two.

I am still deciding whether one of them qualifies.

Do not worry about me.

Every day I grow stronger.

Every day I learn something new.

Every day I take another step toward the future I have chosen for myself.

There are moments when the road becomes difficult, but whenever that happens, I remember home.

I remember Father’s lessons.

I remember Mother’s smile.

I remember the people waiting for me to return.

That is more than enough motivation to keep moving forward.

One day I will return to the Ironfell castle, and when I do, I hope to make both of you proud.

Mother, please stop worrying so much.

And Father, please stop pretending you are not worried at all.

We all know the truth.

Xenia says hello, she was really touched by you mentioning her in your letter, and she is having a wonderful time.

Love, Your son.

Jacob Ironfell.

He looked at the piece of paper in which he had inscribed more feelings than he had shown in a very long time.

’Hmm, very good Jacob, very good. Not too cheesy, very thoughtful.’ He praised himself internally, then stood up off the floor gracefully.

He pondered for a minute, brainstorming different ways to send the message.

’Why was that raven in such a hurry to return to the castle anyways,’ he mused in annoyance.

Then it hit him.

’Since I can use my light affinity to create weapons and objects, maybe I can create something that will deliver the message.’ He thought.

He folded the piece of paper neatly and held his hand out, he concentrated on the palm of his hand to the point where it began to shine brightly, in a single bright flash, something had manifested on his palm.

It was in the shape of a bird, but it was just pure white light, it’s wings flickered brightly but made no sound.

It brought him surprise to discover he could create something like that.

Jacob immediately placed the letter in between its claws.

"Deliver this letter to the Ironfell castle." He commanded, the bird zoomed off instantly.
