Reborn in the 1980s: Recapture My Devoted Husband
Chapter 1157 - 890: Han Yi’s Unconventional Tenderness (Part 2)
Lin Wan had already called Godmom and told her she didn’t need to bring too many clothes; once she got to Z City, there were plenty of clothes to buy. So after Godmom arrived, Lin Wan prepared several full sets of outfits for her, from inside out.
Junzi and Tao Jia saw that as soon as their mom stepped into her godson and goddaughter’s territory, the real son and daughter-in-law pair instantly became supporting roles.
Goddess laughed out loud when she heard that—who told her she had such good taste, recognizing this pair of wonderful kids as her own.
After Godmom came, she made them three meals a day just the way they liked, and although Saozi was still throwing up badly, it was much better than before. Godmom specially made her some tangy sour soup that cut the grease; after drinking it, her appetite picked up and she could eat a bit more. Slowly, the number of times she threw up went down.
On the third day after Godmom arrived, she drove the "Little Potato" that her brother had left her and went off to see her Mom for a long visit.
"You actually know how to drive? How come I didn’t know about this?" Mom was Surprised to see Godmom driving so smoothly and asked in amazement.
"I’ve known how for years, learned it in the army. Back then there wasn’t much going on, Shuqing taught me himself, and he sure didn’t skimp on the criticism. I was pretty aggrieved at the time—our family didn’t even have a car, and even if I learned I had no chance to drive, so what was the point. Looking at it now, it’s really come in handy. Wasn’t a waste at all."
Liang Qian laughed out loud. You had to admit, a woman who’s been out in the world really is different; compared to when she was a housewife, she’d gotten a lot more capable and energetic, and her horizons had widened a lot too.
Seeing such a big change in her all of a sudden, Liang Hongmei was really taken aback, especially about the driving. Speaking of learning to drive, she’d been talking about it for years and still hadn’t actually learned.
Her younger siblings in the family all knew how to drive, and now Liang Qian could drive too. That really got to Liang Hongmei; she secretly made up her mind that tomorrow she’d have Lin Guozhi teach her how to drive.
"Aren’t you looking for a place? You actually don’t need to search that hard. Last year a new big mall opened downtown, and a new snack street there just opened a few months ago. I just drove past it the other day, planning to open a hot pot place over there. The spots left are all large units, perfect for a restaurant. How about I take you over to have a look later?"
"Sure, actually it’d be great if our two families were together—one hot pot, one stir-fry place. And all the dishes on the menu would still be your Liao family recipes. I think it’s a good fit," Liang Qian felt that if they opened restaurants across from each other or side by side, they could draw in more diners.
"Okay, we’ll go check it out later, see if there are any suitable units right next to each other for the two of us. If there are, we can just lock them in on the spot. The foot traffic over there is really good, shops rent out fast. Big units are harder to rent and there aren’t many of them. Xiao Wan opened a shop in that mall; she knows the developer there and can get us a bit of a break on the rent." Take Zhang Dandan’s shop for example—they knocked off half a month’s rent.
"Then let’s hurry, let’s go now. Since you’ve already scouted it, I don’t have to run all over town every day looking for a place. Saves me a lot of trouble. Once we’ve seen it, we’ll decide right away. The sooner this gets settled, the better." As soon as Liang Qian heard what Liang Hongmei said, she perked up immediately. Any place Hongmei had her eye on definitely wouldn’t lose money. Their family had a knack for business and knew what counted as a good location. If she really could find a good spot there, she could put people straight to work on the fit-out and start hiring.
That way she could stay a bit longer in Z City, open a new shop while also looking after the kids—best of both worlds.
The two of them were both action-oriented; having said it, Liang Hongmei simply had Liang Qian drive straight over to the mall. Among the remaining suitable units, the two of them stood right there and analyzed the customer flow, then strolled up and down the snack street.
Walking around here, they were bound to run into Zhang Dandan. When Liang Hongmei walked into her shop, Zhang Dandan was busy frying chicken nuggets for customers. Seeing Liang Hongmei, she quickly looked up with a smile and asked a few questions.
Seeing she was busy, Liang Hongmei didn’t chat much with her, just told her to work hard and then left with Liang Qian. Zhang Dandan was much more grounded now. Running her own shop, she had to get up early and come back late every day; even if she caught a cold or something, she couldn’t stop working. It was pretty tough. When folks back home found out, Liang Weixiang even wanted to come over on her bad leg, but the family back home wouldn’t let her. Zhang Dandan also held a grudge in her heart and didn’t want her to come.
These past few days, the two of them had been stirring up no small amount of drama at home. But with no one on her side, she ended up completely isolated, and even her sons didn’t bother with her.
Liang Hongmei and Liang Qian walked the street several times and finally picked two of the best spots, right next door to each other, both very suitable.
Liang Qian was very happy. She’d thought she’d have to run around on her own for a long time to find a good location, but now she’d only been here three days and it was already settled.
For something this hassle-free, she really had Liang Hongmei to thank.
After they negotiated the rent, they paid on the spot and got the keys. Next step was the renovations. The two restaurants would each have their own style. Before coming, Liang Qian had already brought a stack of photos.
They were all pictures of the shopfront, interior décor, and layout, so that when they found a contractor they could just have them copy it. As for Liang Hongmei, she had even less to worry about. In the end, the two of them agreed that she would be the one to find the renovation team. For this kind of job, they could just go straight to Ying Han.
Once that was settled, the two of them bustled back home again. It was almost mealtime, and Liang Qian had to hurry back to cook for her son and daughter-in-law.
After Liang Hongmei got home, that very evening she announced to the whole family that she was going to learn to drive.
