Chapter 2689: Begging Yu Qi To Save Her Daughter
"What exactly is happening here?" Tang Qin Hao asked, his voice cutting through the tension, low, calm, and perfectly professional, yet carrying a clear warning.
Only then did he realise that the woman tightly clutching his sister’s arm with such frantic strength was actually the distraught mother of his newly admitted, unresponsive coma patient.
"Miss Tang... She probably knows! She has to know why my daughter suddenly fell into this deep coma! That is why I want her to help! Only she has the power to save my daughter!" Sang Yuling explained anxiously, her frantic eyes darting nervously between the two siblings as she searched for even a glimmer of hope.
Tang Qin Hao glanced toward Yu Qi, seeking clarification, but his sister simply responded with a small, subtle shake of her head, her expression unreadable.
"Mrs Ji, please release our staff member first. You are making it quite difficult for her to conduct her work," Tang Qin Hao said politely.
Though his words were courteous, his tone remained firm and carried the heavy weight of an order that left absolutely no room for further argument.
"But I am certain she knows! She has the power to wake my daughter up from this nightmare!" Sang Yuling refused to let go, her grip tightening even further as her hysteria continued to escalate in the middle of the crowded hall.
In truth, Yu Qi could have easily employed a simple, discreet pressure point technique to force Sang Yuling to recoil and release her. However, she had no desire to create a public scene or trigger a messy physical altercation inside the hospital corridor. Unfortunately, it seemed that Sang Yuling was far too far gone in her grief, determined to turn the situation into a desperate spectacle.
Seeing the woman’s stubborn, clawing persistence, Tang Qin Hao acted without further hesitation. He reached out and gently but decisively pried Sang Yuling’s trembling fingers away from his sister’s arm before immediately pulling Yu Qi behind his broad shoulders protectively. Sang Yuling instinctively attempted to lunge toward Yu Qi again, but Tang Qin Hao stepped forward at once, his tall, imposing frame completely blocking her path like a solid wall.
"Mrs Ji, please calm yourself down immediately. This kind of erratic behaviour will do nothing to help your daughter’s recovery." Tang Qin Hao said seriously, his aura as a senior doctor steady, imposing, and undeniably authoritative.
"He is right, Mrs Ji. Hysteria will only cloud the situation further and hinder our progress." Yu Qi added calmly, her voice echoing with a chilling steadiness from behind her brother’s protective form.
"I did not want this... I truly, deeply did not want any of this to happen... My daughter... my poor, sweet daughter..." Sang Yuling finally broke under the weight of her own guilt, collapsing into a fit of jagged, agonising sobs that shook her entire frame.
"Mrs Ji, we will continue looking for a medical solution with every resource at our disposal. But first, you need to breathe and calm yourself. If you collapse from sheer exhaustion as well, then who will remain by your daughter’s side to greet her when she finally wakes up?" Yu Qi spoke gently, deliberately softening her tone to soothe the woman’s shattered, frayed nerves.
Sang Yuling stared up at Yu Qi for several long, agonising moments, her tear-filled eyes desperately searching Yu Qi’s face for any sign of a hidden remedy or a secret miracle, before finally nodding weakly in defeat.
"We will do our absolute best to find a way to wake your daughter. However, you must understand that it may take time because we are still investigating the exact underlying cause of her condition. We need to proceed carefully and thoroughly to ensure her safety," Tang Qin Hao explained once more, returning to his patient and clinical tone.
Now significantly calmer, though still looking completely hollowed out by grief and physical exhaustion, Sang Yuling nodded quietly. She slowly turned around with slumped, defeated shoulders and began the long, lonely walk back toward the ward where her daughter lay silent and unmoving beneath the sterile lights.
After watching Sang Yuling finally disappear from view, Tang Qin Hao turned back toward Yu Qi.
"Are you okay? She was quite aggressive." Tang Qin Hao asked, his eyes filled with brotherly concern.
"Yes, I am fine. How is her daughter’s condition progressing?" Yu Qi asked in return, her mind already moving toward the problem.
"As I said earlier, it is a mystery. We still do not know what caused a healthy girl like her to fall into such a profound coma so suddenly." Tang Qin Hao stated, frustration briefly flickering in his eyes.
"I see." Yu Qi replied quietly, her thoughts drifting to the spiritual threads she had seen before.
Tang Qin Hao soon returned to his office to handle more paperwork, while Yu Qi left the area as well. She already knew the dark, metaphysical cause behind Ji Gu Niang’s condition, but there was no way she could reveal the truth of spiritual backlash to her brother or the other staff. Instead, she headed toward the registration counter to check exactly which room Ji Gu Niang had been assigned to. After obtaining the room number, she walked there directly, her footsteps silent on the hospital tiles.
Ji Gu Niang was currently sharing a room with another patient.
The moment Yu Qi stepped into the room, the heavy atmosphere of the sickbay greeted her. Sang Yuling and the guardian of the other patient both turned their heads in unison to look at her.
"Mrs Ji, let us talk outside for a moment." Yu Qi stated calmly, her voice possessing a quality that brooked no refusal.
