Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 190 - 178: Where is the Child’s Father?
"Hey, hey, hey, that’s not fair! Calling for backup just because you can’t win! Fight me one-on-one if you’ve got the guts!"
Flora Bloom glared at him in annoyance. "Then why don’t *you* stop running!"
Just then, the gate of the isolation wall opened, and Lex Cross walked in with Five and the female Water Ability User.
Lex Cross didn’t speak. He glanced at the man being chased by bees, his gaze darkening. Just as the Thunder Energy in the air was about to explode over Julian’s head, Flora Bloom suddenly spoke up.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
Lex Cross snorted coldly and remained silent, but the way he looked at Julian, it was clear he wanted to slice him into a thousand pieces.
At that moment, Julian’s playful, flirty demeanor with Flora Bloom vanished. His expression suddenly turned incredibly serious, and his figure swiftly disappeared from where he stood.
The next second, he silently appeared behind Lex Cross. A dagger had materialized in his hand, its blade about to slice across Lex’s neck.
"Julian, stop!"
Julian’s hand, holding the dagger, froze. He was about to use his superpower to disappear again when he saw Lex Cross’s form also vanish from the spot like a phantom.
The shadows of flowers, grass, trees, and people flickered across the gravel path. The next second, Lex Cross suddenly appeared in front of Julian, one hand gripping his neck and lifting him off the ground.
Julian stared at Lex Cross in disbelief, struggling, but he couldn’t break free from Lex’s grip.
Flora Bloom saw Lex Cross turn to look at her, his voice bone-chillingly cold. "Is it him?"
"Is what him?" Flora Bloom stared at him for a long moment before his eyes glanced at her belly, and she finally understood.
Flora Bloom gave Lex Cross a speechless look. "It’s not him. Let him go."
Lex Cross ignored her, his grip on Julian’s neck tightening. Seeing Julian’s face turn blue and his lips purple, his neck bent at a grotesque angle, Flora Bloom tightened her grip on her dagger and slashed at Lex Cross’s wrist.
She had only meant to startle him, to force him to let go. But she hadn’t expected him to remain completely still, still gripping Julian’s neck, allowing her to slice a gash into his wrist.
"Sister-in-law...!" Five gave Flora Bloom a reproachful look and moved forward to check the wound on Lex’s hand, but Lex stopped him.
He tossed the man he had nearly choked to death onto the nearby lawn and walked toward Flora Bloom.
Watching Lex Cross approach her with a frosty expression, Flora Bloom felt a sense of foreboding.
"I... I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. I thought you would dodge." Flora Bloom looked at Lex Cross. The man’s eyes were now filled with a darkness and coldness that was foreign to her. She backed away, but he matched her step for step.
"Five, you all leave." Lex Cross’s tone left no room for argument. After a moment’s hesitation, Five decided to leave.
"COUGH! COUGH! COUGH!" Julian recovered quickly after the brief suffocation. Seeing Flora Bloom cornered by Lex Cross with nowhere to retreat, he frowned and started forward to intervene. "Miss, are you okay?"
But before he could get close, Five, who was about to leave, grabbed his arm. "My boss let you off the hook, and you’re still not leaving? You really want to die? My boss won’t do anything to our sister-in-law!"
"I...!" Julian looked at Flora Bloom, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. After one last glance at her, he reluctantly vanished. ’This is a man I can’t beat, even at Level 3. A wise man knows when to retreat. Since I know she’ll be okay, I’d better get out of here.’
"Lex..."
"Get out!"
Lex Cross’s voice was cold and merciless, causing Chelsea Todd to choke back the words she was about to say, not daring to speak further. Five grabbed Chelsea and immediately headed toward the villa where they were staying.
’In our experience, the boss has always been calm and composed, never showing any major mood swings no matter what happened. Even when he was betrayed by the Young Master on the battlefield, got injured, and ended up stranded here, his emotions never wavered.’
’But now, I’m seeing the boss actually get angry. This has never happened before.’
Seeing that they were alone, Flora Bloom found Lex Cross’s frigid aura so intense she could hardly breathe. Looking at the wound on his wrist, Flora Bloom felt she had to make it clear that she hadn’t meant to hurt him.
She took a bottle of spiritual water from her space and offered it to him. "Whether you believe me or not, I didn’t mean to hurt you. Drink this."
Lex Cross raised his hand and swatted the bottle from Flora Bloom’s grasp. He stared unblinkingly into her eyes, and to her, his deep voice held a faint, almost imperceptible rasp.
"Who is the child’s father?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Flora Bloom didn’t know why he was asking. She just looked at Lex Cross with some confusion and said, "What good would it do you to know? I made myself very clear yesterday."
After speaking, Flora Bloom tried to walk around Lex Cross to leave, but he grabbed her hand and pulled her in front of him. Looking at the woman before him, who only came up to his chest, Lex Cross felt the urge to pull her into his arms at any moment.
"What if I said I don’t mind?"
Flora Bloom was stunned. She looked at Lex Cross in disbelief, but the next second, she suddenly started laughing. ’In my past life, just a few days after learning I was pregnant with another man’s child, Shelton Underwood also told me with deep affection that he didn’t mind.’
’But in the end, what men cared about most was their own pride. When that feeling was left to fester and build to a certain point, the consequences of its inevitable explosion were more than I could bear.’
’Just like in my past life, right before I died, Shelton Underwood finally told me that I was the reason he couldn’t hold his head high, that he had endured ten years of humiliation. It wasn’t that he didn’t mind; it was that he had resolved not to mind at the time, but deep down, the resentment had always been there.’
"*I* mind!"
"..."
Flora Bloom took a deep breath and glanced at Lex Cross. "I love the child’s father very much. So, we’re impossible." ’I was already using every ounce of my linguistic ability to make this up. If he kept questioning me, I didn’t know if I could keep the story straight.’
Lex Cross lowered his head and stared at Flora Bloom’s belly, as if he could burn a hole through it with his gaze. Seeing this, Flora Bloom clutched her stomach and backed away warily.
"What are you doing?"
’I was ready to jump into my space at the slightest unusual move from Lex Cross. At the very least, I absolutely could not let him hurt Polly!’
Lex Cross let out a self-deprecating laugh. "Do you really care that much about this child?" After speaking, he pulled his lingering gaze away from Flora Bloom’s face and was about to turn and leave.
"Wait!"
Something suddenly occurred to Flora Bloom, and she called out to stop Lex Cross. She reached out, took the hand she had cut, and condensed a ball of spiritual water in her palm, wanting to heal his wound. But Lex Cross gently pulled free, scattering the spiritual water in her hand.
"It was wrong of me to hurt you. Now hold still and let me heal it!"
Lex Cross glanced at the wound on his wrist. He didn’t feel any pain at all. He just looked into Flora Bloom’s eyes, the corner of his mouth lifting in a cold smirk.
"There’s no need." With that, he turned, leaving Flora Bloom with only the sight of his lonely, cold back.
Flora Bloom stood on the gravel path, smelling the sweet scent of wildflowers in the air, but somehow, the fragrance was no longer as pleasant as it had been that first day.
Stroking her belly, Flora Bloom suppressed the faint feeling of reluctance in her heart.
’This is for the best. Once he leaves, everything will be fine again.’
