Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 29 - 26: Helping to Save Someone
Seeing that Seth was dead, the group collapsed to the floor in exhaustion. Oscar Owen, in particular, lay down the moment he hit the ground, completely drained of strength.
Flora Bloom knew this was the weakness that came after depleting one’s superpower, a type of mental torment that was incredibly painful. But Oscar Owen just lay there, his only expression a furrowed brow.
Flora Bloom chuckled deviously to herself.
’This guy is a future base city big shot,’ she thought. ’If I can get on his good side now, it’ll make things easier for me later if I ever need anything.’
So, Flora Bloom once again materialized a bottle of water out of thin air. After taking a drink and recovering some of her energy, she shot Oscar Owen a sly look.
"Oscar Owen, take these Crystal Cores. They’ll help you quickly recover your spiritual power and restore your superpower."
Flora Bloom said it casually, and Oscar Owen didn’t refuse. He took the five white Crystal Cores from her hand and began absorbing them to recover.
Although the white Crystal Cores didn’t have as much energy as those dug out of zombie heads, the combined energy of five of them was still substantial.
She gave Neal Wallace some Crystal Cores as well, but after he quickly absorbed five, he still didn’t seem to have recovered much. It appeared that even though they were both among the first to awaken their superpowers, Neal Wallace needed far more energy to recover than Oscar Owen did.
Flora Bloom wasn’t worried about the cost. The massive golden cicadas had left behind a huge pile of Crystal Cores, enough for the group to recover several times over.
After recovering for a while, Oscar Owen opened his eyes. As expected, his complexion had improved significantly.
"Flora Bloom, I, Oscar Owen, now owe you a favor."
’That’s exactly what I wanted to hear! Trading a few low-level white Crystal Cores for a favor from a future base city leader... what a bargain!’
Flora Bloom was delighted. She glanced at Neal Wallace, who had also recovered his superpower, then motioned for Ethan Monroe, preparing to leave.
But just then, the heavily injured Mervin Warren, who was in the corner, suddenly let out two faint groans. Though almost inaudible, there were three superpower users present, and their hearing was so sensitive that they heard it crystal clear.
Flora Bloom walked over to Mervin Warren and checked his breathing. Sure enough, it was incredibly faint—he was breathing out more than he was breathing in. ’If I hadn’t been here today, this reckless, foolish boy would have died right here.’
Ignoring the stares from Oscar Owen and the others, Flora Bloom made a bottle of water appear out of thin air. She handed it to Ethan Monroe and said, "Pour this down his throat. Quickly."
Ethan Monroe took the bottle, knelt, and forced a couple of mouthfuls into Mervin Warren. He then looked at Flora Bloom uncertainly and said, "Uh, he’s seriously injured. Don’t blame me if I end up drowning him with this!"
In response to Flora Bloom’s epic eye-roll, the entire bottle of water went into Mervin Warren’s stomach. The amazing thing was, the bleeding from his wounds, which had been flowing freely, suddenly stopped.
Not only that, but after his eyelids twitched a few times, they suddenly flew open. The first thing he saw was Ethan Monroe’s large face leaning over him, and he screamed and jumped to his feet.
But because his severe injuries hadn’t healed yet, he immediately cried out in pain.
Seeing that he was out of danger, Flora Bloom tossed a bottle of water to him, which Mervin Warren caught instinctively. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Flora Bloom? Flora Bloom, run! They’re trying to harm you!"
Mervin Warren’s expression was filled with terror as he looked at Flora Bloom, terrified that she had fallen into their trap.
Flora Bloom and the others watched Mervin Warren’s reaction with amusement and then burst out laughing.
"Kid, look over there."
Mervin Warren looked in the direction Ethan Monroe was pointing. On the floor, the blond guy and the muscleman were covered in wounds and had stopped breathing. Belle Bloom was burned so badly that only scraps of clothing remained to cover her, her body a mess of burns.
There was another body, charred completely black, its identity unrecognizable. But then Mervin Warren saw Scott cowering behind the sofa, trembling, his face a mess of tears and snot, with the stench of urine hanging in the air around him. It suddenly dawned on him.
"Is... is that the body of that gang leader, Seth?"
They all nodded at the same time.
Seeing Mervin Warren was okay, Flora Bloom handed out a bottle of water to everyone, telling them all to restore themselves to peak condition.
Neal Wallace and Ethan Monroe were fine; they already had a tacit understanding of Flora Bloom’s miraculous abilities. But the way Oscar Owen looked at Flora Bloom had changed.
The old Flora Bloom was a girl who needed protection, which had stirred his protective instincts. The Flora Bloom of today was a powerful fighter, independent, and even her temperament and personality were completely different.
’And she can pull things out of thin air... Could something like a spatial storage ability really exist in this world?’
He then let out a self-deprecating laugh. ’Then again, the apocalypse is here, and I’ve awakened a Wind Ability myself. I guess something like spatial storage isn’t so strange after all.’
