Chapter 51: Chapter 43: I’ve Seen Shameless Before

The group entered the house and, one by one, caught the scent of meat wafting from the kitchen. This aroma wasn’t the greasy, worldly kind; instead, it was a pure, refreshing fragrance that seemed to invigorate them just by smelling it.

This was especially true for Flora Bloom, who had just been violently ill. She had expected the smell of meat to make her nauseous again, but surprisingly, it didn’t. In fact, the aroma of the food, made from an evolved creature, made her mouth water.

The giant mountain chicken was enormous, so when Jade carried out five large basins brimming with chicken dishes, everyone’s self-control evaporated.

Ethan Monroe, never one for ceremony, was the first to lunge forward. Just as he was about to grab some food with his hands, Flora Bloom stopped him.

"Go wash your hands. Use chopsticks."

Caleb came out after washing his hands and obediently sat down next to Jade. Jade set out a bowl and chopsticks for him, then ladled a serving of chicken soup for him.

Flora Bloom wrinkled her nose and said, "Mom, I want some too."

Jade shot her a look. "You’re a grown woman now. Why are you still acting like a child?"

Then she ladled a bowl for her too.

At that moment, Caleb Bloom recalled the scene of Flora Bloom killing zombies outside. ’When your daughter was being so decisive and ruthless, even digging through a zombie’s rotten head, she didn’t seem much like a child,’ he couldn’t help but inwardly retort.

Although Caleb Bloom had long since noticed the changes in his daughter and was curious, he still didn’t say much. No matter what his daughter became, she was still his daughter. That would never change.

After they had all eaten and drunk their fill, Flora Bloom waved her hand, and the remaining dishes vanished into her space.

Everyone stared as Flora Bloom displayed such a magical ability, and Micah’s gaze, in particular, grew even more intense.

Only then did Flora Bloom turn her attention to Toby Warren and Micah.

Toby Warren and Micah had completely emptied their stomachs from vomiting earlier, and the fragrant aroma of the food made their hunger unbearable. But the bite wounds on their necks had stiffened to the point where they couldn’t move them. It seemed they had even lost the sensation of pain. How could they possibly eat?

Moreover, both men knew with terrifying certainty that if they weren’t treated, they would turn into zombie-like monsters, which made them even more frightened.

When they saw that Flora Bloom, now well-fed, had finally noticed them, they breathed a sigh of relief. As long as this young woman was willing to save them, they might not have to die.

After all, they had both seen Jade that day when she was covered in monster scratches and unconscious. Seeing her now, so full of life and chatting with those around her, gave them a glimmer of hope.

Flora Bloom crouched beside them and examined their wounds. She had assumed their injuries from the Second Level zombie bite would be severe, but that wasn’t the case.

Aside from the wounds festering and their blood turning black, the men themselves seemed to be in high spirits.

Flora Bloom had Ethan Monroe bring over the same bathtub they had used for Jade. She filled it with water using her superpower, then told Toby Warren to climb in and soak. Seeing his wounds slowly begin to heal, Flora Bloom gave him a bottle of Space Spirit Water and told him to keep soaking.

Meanwhile, Flora Bloom’s gaze was fixed on Micah. ’This guy is old, and he seems to have some kind of important background.’

"You want me to save you?"

Micah nodded. Seeing the change in Toby Warren’s wound, he was ecstatic. ’No one wants to die, and I especially don’t want to become one of those man-eating monsters.’

"I’m a simple person. I do my best to repay those who are good to me or have shown me kindness. But you? We’re not friends or family. The things I use to heal people are extremely valuable. What reason do you have for me to save you?"

Micah knew clearly that Flora Bloom was negotiating terms with him.

"Well... you’re not interested in money. I really don’t know what else I can offer to trade for my life."

Micah’s mind raced, searching desperately for a solution.

"How about this? I can save you, but you have to agree to one condition."

Micah froze. "A condition?"

"That’s right. I haven’t decided what it is yet, but when I do think of it, I’ll be cashing it in for a price equivalent to the value of your life. Given your status, I imagine the price of this favor won’t be low. But remember, you are not allowed to refuse me by citing some so-called ’bottom line.’ Otherwise, just as I can save you, I also have ways to take that life back."

Micah looked at the confidence on the young woman’s face and the decisiveness in her eyes, and he did not doubt her words.

He believed this girl wasn’t lying to him.

"If you agree, I’ll save you this one time. If you’re not willing, then you can fend for yourself. Actually, for those infected with the zombie virus, if you can survive for 24 hours without turning, it’s possible to pull through. There’s even a chance you might awaken a superpower. I just don’t know if *you* can last that long."
