Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 62 - 51: Carried Back to the Room
Lex Cross wasn’t concerned about the Crystal Core from the zombie creature that was approaching Level 3.
His gaze changed the moment Flora Bloom took out the spiritual water.
Flora Bloom, meanwhile, was already in the living room, eagerly and frantically absorbing Crystal Cores. It seemed that with her Space Spirit Water, the risk of permanent superpower damage from over-exhaustion simply didn’t exist for her.
When she woke up after healing her mother, Flora Bloom had felt her superpower increase significantly. Now, after pushing her power to its limit and exhausting it twice in short succession, her level-one ability had hit a bottleneck and was even beginning to overflow.
Flora Bloom clutched a handful of Crystal Cores, closing her eyes and continuously absorbing them. The vortex in her sea of consciousness grew larger as she absorbed the cores, until its rotational speed began to accelerate rapidly.
Aside from the zombie bull’s Crystal Core, there were no other Second Level cores from the zombies this time, but there were several that were close. Flora Bloom absorbed them all in one go. As the vortex in her sea of consciousness spun furiously, she felt as if she could command all the surrounding Water Energy at will.
Above the vortex in her sea of consciousness, the small cloud seemed to have accumulated enough moisture, and it began to rain down a gentle, sweet dew.
The vortex’s rotational speed then returned to normal, but the vortex itself had become deeper and larger. Furthermore, seven nearly transparent orbits had appeared around it. On the closest orbit, a deep blue crystal materialized, rotating in sync with the vortex.
The small cloud above, however, showed no change.
’What’s going on? Seven orbits?’
’I’m a Water Element user, so this deep blue crystal must represent my Water Ability. If one superpower crystal occupies one orbit, does that mean the other six empty orbits represent six more superpowers I can awaken?’
This bold conjecture made Flora Bloom’s heart pound. Even she found it unbelievable.
Meanwhile, after drinking the spiritual water Flora Bloom had given them, The Crown Prince and Raccoon’s injuries healed before everyone’s eyes. The flesh on their legs regrew at a visible rate, and all their wounds vanished as if they had never been injured in the first place.
Lex Cross stared at the spiritual water in his hand, confirming its function and unique scent again and again. ’How can this be? Only an internal space of *that* level could produce such pure spiritual water.’
’That thing... since its birth and discovery, it has been hunted for so long across the vast cosmos by masters from every Star Nation, yet never found. Who would have thought it would end up in a nation like this, obtained by a weak little girl?’
’To obtain such a spiritual treasure in this world... she truly is a woman blessed by Lady Luck.’
’Weak? Heh. With this space, this "little one" can no longer be described as weak. Even if she is for now, just give her time. Her future achievements will be limitless!’
’Looks like I need to have a proper talk with her.’
Over an hour later, Flora Bloom’s superpower advanced to the Second Level. When she woke up, she was met by a group of faces staring at her with foolish grins.
Aside from Lex Cross, these twelve men had no idea about the origin of Flora Bloom’s spiritual water. They only knew it could quickly heal their injuries, major or minor. Even burns as severe as those suffered by The Crown Prince and Raccoon had healed in moments, leaving no trace of injury.
In this apocalypse, Flora Bloom was, in their eyes, the ultimate must-have for home, travel, and even home invasions!
Flora Bloom stood up, stretched, and was about to leave. When she opened her eyes, she saw that only the thirteen special forces soldiers and Neal Wallace remained.
Seeing Flora Bloom awake, Lex Cross suddenly moved closer. Caught off guard, Flora stumbled back a few steps and asked, "What do you want?"
Seeing her tense expression, Lex Cross felt a sudden urge to tease her. A wicked grin spread across his face as he closed the distance again and whispered in her ear, "What do you think?"
’Damn it! He’s weaponizing his good looks!’ Feeling the warm breath on her ear, Flora Bloom scrambled back several steps to put a safe distance between them.
Neal Wallace instinctively frowned at Lex Cross’s action and was about to step forward to intervene, but when he saw Flora Bloom retreat on her own, he said nothing.
Seeing her retreat, Lex Cross moved closer again, like a prankster, only for his expression to darken at her next move.
SLAP!
A slap landed squarely on Lex Cross’s face, causing everyone present to gasp in shock. Neal Wallace was already moving forward to stand in front of Flora Bloom.
For some reason, he instinctively felt that this man, Lex Cross, was no ordinary person, and he couldn’t let Flora Bloom suffer for this. This was despite knowing that even with his own abilities, he and Flora combined would likely be no match for this man.
The twelve special forces soldiers stared at the red mark on their boss’s face, sucked in another cold breath, and unanimously averted their eyes, unable to bear looking at Lex Cross’s expression. In their hearts, they silently prayed for Flora Bloom.
’We’re so screwed!’
’She’s really done for it this time.’
’There are countless powerful experts in the cosmos who get assassinated from a thousand miles away before anyone can even get near them. And here he is, slapped right in the face, at point-blank range, in front of us, his subordinates.’
They could already picture the gruesome scene of the girl being dismembered, her blood splattering everywhere.
’Should we pretend we didn’t see anything and make a tactical retreat? If the boss loses face in front of us, we won’t get off easy, either!’
The color of Lex Cross’s face cycled from black to white, white to red, and back to black again. Suddenly, a dangerous glint appeared in his eyes, and he strode toward Flora Bloom. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Flora Bloom, her arm still raised, looked at the man’s dark face just inches from her own and thought to herself that she might have overreacted to a strange man suddenly getting too close. She ventured, somewhat apologetically, "If I said I didn’t mean to do that, would you believe me?"
Lex Cross froze, his face still dark and bearing the imprint of her hand. Although anger seethed within him, for some reason, looking at the woman’s cautious yet earnest little face, his heart inexplicably softened.
Though his expression remained hostile, his anger gradually subsided as he watched his own reflection in Flora Bloom’s clear eyes.
A flicker of playfulness passed through Lex Cross’s eyes. "I don’t." As soon as the words left his mouth, he hoisted Flora Bloom over his shoulder, gave her a mischievous slap on the rear, and started walking upstairs.
Lex Cross’s slap sent the temperature of Flora Bloom’s face soaring, and she began to struggle in a fit of shame and indignation.
"Are you insane?! Let me go right now! Or you’ll be sorry!"
Neal Wallace, a worried look on his face, started to chase after them but was blocked by the remaining twelve special forces soldiers.
This group of special forces soldiers, who were on a mission to find Professor Micah, gave him an intense feeling of pressure. It was an oppressive weight from their sheer power that almost left him breathless.
He had clearly awakened a Fire Element superpower, but he still didn’t dare make a rash move in front of these men.
With the twelve of them blocking the staircase, there was no way he could break through their blockade.
"Don’t worry, our boss won’t hurt the girl."
"Yeah, can’t you tell? Our boss has taken a fancy to her."
’In reality, they couldn’t say for sure if the boss had taken a fancy to the girl. Maybe he just wanted to mess with her a bit before... *snap*.’
How could Flora Bloom not hear their conversation downstairs? She struggled but couldn’t break free. She had nearly exhausted her strength hitting Lex Cross, her palms turning red from the effort, but the man didn’t react at all.
"Screw you all! You’re the ’girl,’ your whole family are ’girls’!"
But aside from the anxious Neal Wallace, no one paid her any mind. Caleb Bloom and his wife had already gone upstairs to rest, as they planned to set off for Morhaven early the next morning to find their son.
Ethan Monroe, Caleb, and Professor Micah had also found places to go to sleep. The visual and psychological shock of the zombie horde had frayed their nerves. Now that things had calmed down, they were overcome with exhaustion.
"Say, you guys think it’s maybe not cool for the boss to just carry the girl off like that?"
"Fortune Teller, are you an idiot? Can’t you see the boss likes this woman?"
The man called Fortune Teller did indeed have the look of a scholar, and apparently the mind of one too. He asked, bewildered, "But I thought the boss was furious. Didn’t you see her slap him? Have you ever seen the boss swallow that kind of insult?"
"Ah, forget it. Don’t mind the Fortune Teller. A guy like him will never get a wife. He’s destined to be single forever."
"So, you guys think we’re about to get a sister-in-law?"
Five suddenly shot a sly, lecherous grin at the group.
"Who knows? If the boss manages to conquer ’the girl’ tonight, we might even have a little young master before long."
