Regression - Second Chance At Life
Chapter 319: Meeting Her Again
Adama drives the Stratosurge back to Danny’s villa with Danny in it, at the front entrance, seeing Danny’s car, the guards allow them to pass through without the hassle Adam had experienced the first time.
Stopping the car in front of the main door, Adam and Danny get out. Danny still has this gleeful smile on his face as he is already imagining himself bragging about what happened today.
"It’s time for me to take my leave," Adam says as he sees Danny walking towards his mansion.
Danny stops and looks back at Adam. "So soon? I thought we could continue gaming for a few more hours," Danny says.
"Not now, I have other matters to attend to. Some other time," Adam says.
Though looking disappointed, Danny doesn’t make a fuss. "Okay, some other time then," he says.
"Here," Before leaving, Adam tosses him his personal car key as he can’t take it back with him since he is taking the Stratosurge along with him.
Danny fumbles to catch the key but manages to get his hands around it after a few panicked juggles.
"Got it!" Danny says with a grin while showing it to Adam before looking at it himself. "What’s this for?" He asks. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Well, I can’t take my car with me now, can I?" Adam says.
"Ah, that’s true,"
"I will collect it later," Adam says, and is about to get into the stratosurge when another car rolls in behind them.
Adam stops and looks behind as the driver of the car gets out. An average-looking man wearing a driver’s uniform.
He quickly walks up to the back door and opens it as a woman steps out.
Mature and beautiful, someone who would walk into a room and steal all the spotlight.
She is wearing a single-piece black dress that goes all the way down to her ankles, but the dress hugs her perfectly to show off her sexy figure. The dress might be long, but it’s not conservative in any way, as the neck cut is very deep, exposing quite a significant amount of cleavage, but not to make it the center of all attention, she has this very expensive-looking diamond necklace around her neck, which shimmers very brightly under the afternoon sun, and to go along with it, a matching pair of earrings to bring the focus back to her beautiful face.
Adding to her aesthetic, she has a factory-set iced-out watch around her wrist that costs over half a million dollars, and branded sunglasses that would cost more than an average man’s yearly salary.
This woman clearly knows how to present herself as rich as one can look. Elegant, sexy, seductive, and wealthy. When most people see her, they already know she is someone rich and powerful, which immediately makes them treat her better than most.
Whether this is psychologically intentional or just her fashion sense, Adam has no clue, but he does know one thing: he knows this woman.
She is Marissa Coronant, wife of William Coronant, mother of Danny Coronant.
The same woman Adam met and spoke to in the hotel’s elevator after they were done fucking other people. Adam was with Bianca. Marissa with that gigolo named Mark.
Adam recalls the conversation he had with Marissa on that elevator ride down, their flirty comments at each other, which ended in the parking lot with Marissa giving him her personal contact number.
Adam has her number memorized in his head, but he never called because he was busy with other things. He also didn’t want to contact her before solidifying his friendship with Danny, as things could backfire if Danny found out he was fucking Danny’s mother before they even became close friends.
Just like Adam recognised Marissa, Marissa also recognised Adam.
She took off her glasses and stared at Adam as he stared back at her, their eyes locked onto each other, not saying a word.
Marissa never expected to meet the handsome young man she met at that hotel here with her son right in front of their house.
She still remembers their meeting clearly, as it was something she could not get out of her mind, especially after what her favorite gigolo whispered about Adam into her ears.
She recalls giving Adam her phone number and the little frustration she felt afterward when she didn’t get the call she hoped she would.
But now that she sees Adam standing next to Danny, she feels somewhat relieved, as things could have gotten complicated if she had gotten involved with Adam.
She is trying to keep her infidelity in the dark, so getting involved with Adam would have caused her even more problems now that she knows that Adam and her son know each other.
"Mommy! You are here just in time! Let me introduce you to my best friend!" Danny says, and he rushes over to Marissa, grabs her by her hands, and pulls her closer towards Adam.
Marissa, of course, having a soft spot for her only child, could never deny him.
"Mommy, this is Adam. Adam, this is my mom, Marissa," Danny says as Adam and Marissa stare into each other’s eyes deeper.
Adam then softly smiles, extending his hand towards Marissa.
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Coronant," He says, sounding as if he were acting clueless, as if this is the very first time he is meeting her.
There is a slight flash of surprise in Marissa’s eyes, seeing how composed Adam is in this situation. Most guys his age would act awkwardly, not knowing what to do in this situation.
"Nice to meet you, too, Adam, and call me Marissa. Mrs. Coronant makes me feel old," Marissa says, putting on her best smile as well, looking as composed as Adam.
Even though his presence stirred up her emotions, Marissa didn’t let it influence her, showing her maturity and composure.
"Old? Please, you look stunning for your age. Mr. Coronant is a lucky guy," Adam says with a charming smile.
A memory flashes in Marissa’s head. These words that Adam used were the same ones he used in that elevator ride. Hinting at her that he remembers her very well. Marissa doesn’t know what to think of it.
So she turns to look at Danny instead. "So, Adam, here is your best friend? Why am I finding this out today? When did you guys meet?" Marissa started asking questions like any concerned parent.
"We met at a movie theater, and we hit it off in an instant. Adam and I have the same taste in almost everything!" Danny says.
Adam looks at Danny. ’Same taste in almost everything is an exaggeration, but, well, let him believe that,’ Adam thinks.
"Oh, that sounds nice..." Marissa says and turns to look at Adam again, this time with some suspicion in her eyes.
Since Danny’s her only child, she is very protective of him, so Adam’s entering his life and becoming his best friend all of a sudden seems a little suspicious.
"Too bad you came when Adam’s about to leave. You two could have gotten to know each other better," Danny says.
"Oh, I don’t think that’s a problem. I am sure Adam can spare a few minutes to come inside and talk with me a little. I would love to learn more about your new best friend," Marissa says.
Adam hears her and gives her a contemplative stare, wondering what Marissa’s intentions are.
Is it really about her getting to know her son’s new best friend, or is it about their meeting in that hotel’s elevator?
Walking into this situation has its ups and downs, but rejecting her invite is also not a wise move, as he can easily antagonize her.
"Well.... If Marissa insists, then I think I can squeeze in half an hour or so," Adam says.
"Great, let’s go in. I can’t wait to tell you what Adam did today," Danny says as he rushes towards the mansion.
Adam and Marissa look at each other again before following Danny into the mansion.
Once in, a butler walks up to Marissa and takes the handbag from her hands.
"Ed, please prepare some tea for Adam and me. We will be out in the garden," Marissa gives the butler an order. The man nods his head and leaves without speaking a word.
"Danny, why don’t you go and wash up. You smell funny, till then, Adam will keep me company, won’t you, Adam?" Marissa asks.
"Of course," Adam says.
Danny listens to his mother and leaves as well, leaving only Adam and Marissa in the living room.
"Follow me," Marissa says, and takes Adam outside in the garden.
This garden is on the other side of the mansion. A beautiful gazebo stands in the middle, with intricately designed pillars, a roof, and underneath it, fancy-looking furniture.
"Take a seat," Marissa says.
Adam sits down, not bothering to speak until Marissa gets to the point; useless conversation would just make him look and sound desperate or weak.
Marissa also sits down facing Adam, looking elegant while doing so.
"So.." She says.
"So..." Adam answers with a charming smile.
"You knew who I was back then?" She asks.
"I didn’t at first, but when you gave me your card, I knew," Adam says, not bothering to lie.
Marissa eases into her chair a little.
"So you and my son are best of friends, huh? When did that happen?" Marissa asks.
"Well, you heard your son. We have the same interest. We men, don’t need much else to bond," Adam says, continuing to smile.
Marissa keeps her silence for a few seconds, but there is one question she has been itching to ask Adam from the very beginning.
