Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 858: But Why?
"He has more than one? Blues suddenly asked a very strange question at this point.
Xu Ying raised one of his eyebrows and looked at Blues, "Why wouldn’t he?" It sounded like he was stating the most obvious thing ever.
Why wouldn’t he?
Blues frowned, "I just thought that Ruda was his long-lost wife or something who died and he journeyed all the way here to rescue her.
Something like that," he said.
Xu Ying shook his head, "How romantic, but that’s not the case. Ruda is just one of his many consorts."
It was then that the massive white lion behind them finally came over, and its aura was truly heavy. Teez didn’t say anything even after arriving and casually listened.
He observed more than he spoke.
"But why?" Blues asked with a frown. He didn’t seem very interested in any other thing besides what he was talking about now, "Why doesn’t he just settle for one?"
In response, Xu Ying’s eyes lit up like he had heard the funniest thing ever. Although he didn’t laugh, the mockery was visible in his gaze.
This was because Blues was a dog and Xu Ying knew this. Figs were notorious for sleeping around without being committed to any relationship.
Xu Ying simply told himself that Blues had not yet succumbed to his primal instincts.
"I’m serious, a lot of ladies don’t want to be one of many too," Blues talked using the logic of people in the City of Landan.
In his time, women were very selective and it was hard to imagine that they would be willing to share one man with another woman, not when they were feeling very entitled and there were many men around.
Xu Ying understood what Blues was talking about. He was intelligent and had studied a vast number of subjects, including the monogamous relationships of some creatures. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Normally, he wouldn’t bother explaining things to someone like Blues and would just let them live their lives the way they wanted.
But since it was Blues himself, someone who was probably going to be around Kael a lot if he gets lucky, then it won’t hurt to explain some things to him.
"I understand that you come from a country filled with that kind of stuff but it would also appear that you yourself don’t know what exactly goes on.
First of all, monogamy tends to assume that both sides are equal. Not always, but it tends to assume so.
The truth is that no one is equal to anyone. You all may be equal before your law and constitution, but that equality is meaningless before everything else.
He who provides is superior, she who consumes is inferior. Harsh but it’s the truth.
Look at it from a female perspective. Who would you rather be with, one man who sees you as an equal but cannot provide much for you, or would you share a high-class, high-value, affluent male with the guarantee of a very good and prosperous life?
Many would argue but on the day such a question becomes reality, most will still choose to share that single High Value male.
Monogamy is not bad, but it’s mostly idolized by the weak ones who don’t have the balls to tell females what they want,. Neither do they have the resources to defend those desires.
In case you don’t know, we lions have plenty of balls and we don’t shy away from letting the females know of our sexual desires.
Why settle for one when you can have more?
Or do you want to tell me that you don’t see your politicians and wealthy men having affairs? Even that piece of paper cannot suppress their nature.
Why suppress it at all?
Don’t even go too far, how many of your neighbours and landlords have you seen using their resources and access to get what they want?
If you idolize monogamy, it’s not wrong. Just don’t go around questioning it when the All-King and other lions do the same."
Xu Ying then turned to the giant white lion that sat calmly beside Blues and nodded against him.
Teez had been paying attention and unlike Blues, he was more willing to accept Xu Ying’s logic. He was literally a lion, shying away from his desires was not his thing.
Blues on the other hand didn’t seem to relent. On one hand, he spoke with sympathy for Ruda, unable to imagine how she was forced to share one man. On the other hand, he was trying to understand how such a thing was...fair.
"Are you saying that only males are allowed to do this? Can’t females have their own resources or power?" He asked.
Suddenly, Teez’s paw slapped out playfully, "Yo, did you become a women’s rights activist or something? Chill man..." He said.
But Teez was also getting a bit vexed. Why was Blues asking all these questions to another lion? What happened to speaking only when spoken to?
The playful paw slap did not do anything to Blues, his shoulders barely moved and his feet were firmly planted on the ground.
Xu Ying raised his hand, "It’s fine young one," He said, referring to Teez, "He’s right.
Females do indeed get to have resources in our lion society. Some of them even call themselves Lion Queens and have two or three male consorts of their own.
Might makes right little doggy, even our females understand that. It’s just that in most cases, males absolutely dominate females in every field.
For a female to match against a male or even surpass them, they have to be exceptional, like Her Highness Alora.
They also have to defend themselves against suitors at all times. Even now, there are some powerful Lion Queens who have been relentlessly fighting and clawing their way to power in the last few years.
He has the power, let him take what he wants."
Xu Ying especially allowed his telepathic voice to be loud so that not just Blues and Teez, but also every lion on the street would hear him.
He got their attention, and they all stared at the blue clothes man in wonder and anticipation.
Even Teez was excited. He didn’t know why. The thought of one female fighting for years to prove her might just made him feel somehow.
Not because he wanted to fight her, but because a fight was going on in the first place.
His blood ran hot within his veins.
Blues however was now calmer. He had always understood the logic of might makes right, Ruda had made sure of that long ago.
But now, it was being redefined in his mind.
It was not very apparent to him that the society of these so-called lions was not one fit for a mind like his. That was saying a lot considering that he was a former criminal who had probably done a lot too.
In short, the lion society was confusing and brutal.
"Okay then..." Blues was saying, when all of a sudden, a voice appeared in his mind.
"Meet your people, prepare them..." The voice of the blessed saviour, the All-King, resounded in his mind.
Almost immediately, the space in front of him twisted and a heavenly gate opened in front of him.
Under the darkening sky, this Heavenly Portal shines its light on the shattered and fallen walls as well as on Blue’s face.
Teez, with the lions and lionesses closest to him, observed this heavenly portal with curiosity.
"Oh," Xu Ying said, seemingly having received a telepathic message from the All-King as well, "It seems the All-King needs you somewhere else."
Blues nodded. The Law of Loyalty compelled him to obey before questioning, even though he could.
He walked toward the portal. Just before he got in, he turned to Xu Ying who was now engaging Teez in a conversation. He seemed way more comfortable talking with Teez than he did with him.
"Xu Ying?" Blues called.
Xu Ying, with a blank expression turned around. Wondering if this blue doggy was starting to see him as a friend or comrade because of that little explanation he gave.
"Yes?" Still, he answered.
"What will happen to the people on this planet?" Blues asked. His blue hair flared and the strands were dragged toward the portal.
"That’s none of your business, don’t keep the All-King waiting," Xu Ying responded truthfully.
It was truly none of Blues business. Xu Ying doubted whether Blues would ever come back to Planet Gadi again.
There were just too many things happening beyond this planet. It was hard to say if Blues would be interested in coming back once he had been exposed to them.
Meanwhile, Teez looked at Blues and gave him a final nod, "Stay safe, man," Teez said deeply.
Blues nodded, "See you later, yeah," then turned back and walked into the portal.
Such was the beginning of a mighty being with a humble origin.
And speaking of origin, a certain race of Phoenixes were just visited by one of the clones of the All-King
