Reincarnated As The Heroes Guide
Chapter 83: Basic Pod?
Since the automated turrets were far too expensive for Kalli to be purchasing right now, she focused on the things that she could purchase, mostly in the supplies and vehicles tabs, since the food and weapons tabs were already quite familiar to her.
The vehicles she was interested in weren’t the high speed armoured transports.
No, those could come later, when there was somewhere for them to go. Instead, what they needed was an off-road vehicle that could carry a large pile of tubers, a boar corpse, or a stack of crab legs.
There was one available, a six wheeled contraption with a large cargo bed that operated on mana. Technically, it could also be plugged in to charge, but they didn’t have the spare power for that, so they might as well just use mana, as the System gave them the option.
It was only fifty points.
"Only", Kalli sighed to herself as she considered purchasing it. It was nearly the only electric or mana-powered vehicle there, other than the dirt bike. The cars were hundreds of points, and they didn’t have gasoline for them without buying it. They would also have to take a pickup truck or equivalent to traverse the rough terrain.
That was just a waste, unless they had a huge amount to harvest. For now, they didn’t need it.
That brought her to the supplies page.
The six wheeled off-road vehicle was new to the list, which she hadn’t checked since the first days, so there might be new domestic supplies as well.
At first, the supplies looked normal, then Kalli began to notice that there were things from her old world sprinkled into the mix.
Things that this world never had.
For one, the smart phone now had multiple options of higher end holographic models, there was a very familiar floor cleaning robot that wasn’t designed like anything in this world, and some of the more advanced supplies that colonists used when visiting hostile worlds that hadn’t been terraformed or domesticated.
Animal resistant shelters, electronic pressure cookers, camp chairs with levitation packs so you didn’t have to worry about finding a level spot to set them up.
All of them were expensive, but when she looked for an industrial-sized pressure cooker, it was only ten points, and that would make the process of cooking dinner for a whole apartment building much faster.
The kitchen at the Academy already had one.
Most of the supplies were going to be more useful later, when the heroes were ranging further from the Academy, then Kalli happened to scroll past an item that didn’t belong in the list at all.
At least, not compared to what else was available.
{Basic Resurrection Pod} Recently deceased heroes may be resurrected within 1 hour at the cost of 100 System Points, or 10 Percent of total stats and 1 level. Range, 100km.
Cost 1000 points. {After discount. 90 Percent off, limited time offer, beginner essentials sale}
{Available from level 3}
A thousand points to give heroes a second chance at life? They likely wouldn’t even complain about the loss of a tenth of their stats and a level.
She could see how they would quickly become crippled if they died a lot. But the System had nearly snuck something absolutely amazing past her because it looked like a space burial pod.
The first time she had scrolled past it, she thought it was a coffin and didn’t read the description. But it was actually something amazing.
She could just barely afford to buy one and put it in the Academy.
That way, if something went wrong, they would have a chance to recover. As this Trial went on, that was likely to be the only thing that kept their numbers up.
"Can you guys watch the wall for a bit? I need to run inside."
"See you in five. Remember to wash your hands." Gerry joked.
Kalli went into the Academy and headed straight for the infirmary. There was plenty of space for extra beds in there, and nobody really used it, going by the layer of dust on it. So, Kalli drained her points and purchased the {Basic Resurrection Pod} to place in the corner.
She was just about to leave when the pod lit up and a girl in cleric robes appeared inside.
"Welcome back, hero. Your life has been spared, but a second chance at life comes at a price. Your level has been reduced and your stats penalized. Now, do your best to remain alive."
The girl stared at Kalli, then blinked slowly.
"What the actual fuck?"
"It seemed like the thing to say. But I meant it about the penalty. You’re at Marimgar Academy, and we have a System linked resurrection item. Where did you come from?"
"The city of Gomand. Our base is about to be overrun by Naga Warriors, and they targeted the healers first. I have to get back, they’re doomed without me."
"Come on now, up out of the pod. There is only one, and you’re occupying it."
The second that she took Kalli’s hand to stand up, a large man appeared, and it occurred to Kalli that only the hero was transported. The white sheet was created by the pod for them to wear like a toga.
She was going to have to keep the resurrection pod somewhere private, or there were going to be questions. And voyeurs.
"Welcome back, hero. Your life has been spared, but a second chance at life comes at a price. Your level has been reduced and your stats penalized. Now, do your best to remain alive."
"Lady, if you think that you’re funny, you’re not."
Kalli smiled as the healer giggled. "That’s about what I told her. Apparently, we’re in Marimgar. They got a resurrection item that docks us abilities for a second chance at life. Quick, out of the pod so we can save more people."
Kalli sighed. "Give me a moment, I need to tell someone that I’m not going to be back out right away. If anyone else shows up, pull them out of the pod and move them to a bed or across the hall.
There is a maximum timer on the resurrection effect.
How many did you have, anyhow? If there are a lot, we might need a better system, like putting the pod upside down on the roof and letting everyone fall out."
"You’ve got issues, lady."
"No need for such formality, my name is Kallista De Marimgar. Kalli to my friends. Good to meet you. I am the Coordinator of the defensive force here, a Class granted during the awakening. I will explain it all to your team later. Now, how many more might be coming?"
"There were fifteen of us by the end of the first trial, and about nine thousand civilians."
