And when the verbal encouragement wasn’t enough the Sergeant whistled, and a pair of his men came to assist with physical encouragement, dragging confused people out of the room so that more could be rescued.

There was someone in the main sitting room, possibly Niall, who was explaining patiently what had happened, and that they had taken a penalty to be resurrected at the Academy, since they were close enough to use the resurrection pod, but that it was only good for one person at a time.

Reggie and a pair of warriors came into the room and motioned for Kalli to step aside.

"We’ve got more strength and speed, let us work out the logistics. You go introduce everyone to the Academy, and make sure that the quests are available."

Kalli was going to object, but she could see that the gates were open, which meant someone had already left for the morning.

Most likely on the food gathering quest, before the armoured boars and their handlers woke up.

"Morning, boss. We got tubers!"

The group of young girls from the apartment greeted Kalli as soon as she stepped out of the dorm.

"You’re up early. When did you even go out? You know they can’t come from the close garden, right?"

The girls nodded. "We left fifteen minutes ago, ran out, collected these from plants that were cut down yesterday, and now we’re back. We’re all level 0 Commoners now, so we can have the Quest Point."

If everyone was going to get the title of level 0 commoner, Kalli was going to end up with a huge amount of work to do. She would be the central hub for everyone in the Academy area, and with daily missions to get quest points, which were their current monetary system, her position as Coordinator was going to be invaluable.

Kalli finished with the kids from the apartments, who took a single kilogram each of their potatoes back with them, leaving the rest for Kalli, as the quest completion.

Why Kalli needed so many potatoes, she didn’t know, but she planned to store every one that they could collect, since they were so good for quick recovery soup. And they were going to need a lot of that soon.

She could still hear the chaos of more people arriving, and she was beginning to wonder what had happened that had led to someone setting off a nuke, and all these heroes being reborn.

"Update! The giant zombies are leaving north up the coast, along with a large portion of the Ogres. I think that they’re trying to head toward the explosion."

"Better there than here."

The soldier shrugged. "Until they return with an army of undead heroes and soldiers."

"Don’t even joke about that. We’ve got enough issues as it is. How is the influx of heroes doing?"

"We’re somewhere around a hundred now, and that looks like all of them at the moment. I will get an update on the situation."

"No need. I brought someone to explain it to Kalli," Niall insisted.

Two young men who looked suspiciously like the Student Council President followed him over to Kalli, and Niall made a gesture of introduction.

"These are my cousins, Ivan and Alexei. Boys, explain the situation to Coordinator Kalli."

The two men, who were clearly a few years older than the Student Council President, likely already graduates, or grad students, bowed slightly to Niall, recognizing his authority.

"We were with the group that was gathered by the government forces here in Marimgar. Once we were out of the city, they split us into groups, saying that they needed to ensure that the heroes survived the apocalypse, as we were the only ones who could help rebuild society.

Our group was fifty heroes in total, stationed at the government bunker at Liliana Island.

It’s a secure facility, dug into the mountain as an operations base, in case of war or other disasters. However, whatever is happening out there didn’t care that the bunker was supposedly the most secure place on the continent. The monsters appeared inside the facility, and we’ve been fighting them since the first day.

Every time that we thought we’d got them cleared out, we found more.

So, we’ve just been whittled down bit by bit until today. Then today, one of the teams that was stationed aboard a navy ship for backup got into a big fight with some sort of massive sea monster nest.

It was going well enough for the vessel, the guns could deal with the monsters.

But then, the ship got rocked, and it hit the mountain.

That caused a mass collapse and the next thing I know, there are red lights and sirens, and talk of a structural collapse. The best guess I have is that the nuclear power plant for the facility was damaged, and now we’re all dead.

Or, we were for a minute.

How does that even work? Is everyone who ends up dying just coming back here to start over?"

Kalli laughed. "Oh, you only wish that reality was that kind. I paid an absolutely exorbitant price to obtain a device that allows nearby heroes to be resurrected.

Only heroes.

But they lose a level, and ten percent of their stats. If you hit level 0, you’re no longer a hero. And that’s not to mention what else you might be losing. I can’t even guarantee that it’s not taking a portion of your mental faculties with every resurrection.

One more death, and you’re likely screwed."

The pair laughed. "We were barely level two when the timer ran out, after so much time hunting green skins in the bunker. Goblins, the System called them. And now we’re level one."

"Well, there are a hundred others like you.

Or, fifty like you, I suppose, since the other fifty should be from the ship, right?"

The pair nodded. "That’s what I’m assuming. There certainly weren’t a hundred of us in the bunker if you’re only counting heroes. But there were another two thousand government officials in there when the facility was breached.

Not nearly as many now, as the Goblins have been hunting them, but qutie a few."
