The werewolves all began to walk towards the main road which was already decorated beforehand.

A red carpet was draped over the road, along with rows upon rows of flowers that lay on the path.

Some soldiers also distributed flowers to the common people to throw on King Amaury.

One of those flower bouquets fell into Elijah’s hand as he stood at the forefront along with Heather.

His golden eyes stared at the flower for a second before he passed it to her.

Heather looked down at the bouquet Elijah had placed in her hands. She didn’t know what to say.

Around them the crowd kept growing, hundreds if not thousands of them lining the main road.

Children sat on their fathers’ shoulders, women whispered excitedly, and soldiers kept pushing the crowd back to make space.

Despite everything Elijah had learned about the kingdom...

The people looked happy.

’....They all are sick.’

But even in his disgust, Elijah understood them.

On the surface level everyone thought that Amaury was trying to save his kingdom.

Trumpets suddenly echoed across the street and soldiers lined up to keep the commoners in check.

One of them shouted loudly.

"Make way for the king!"

The massive gates at the end of the road slowly opened.

A golden carriage rolled forward. Four enormous black horses pulled it across the red carpet.

The crowd erupted.

"Long live the king!"

"Long live the king!"

Heather’s fingers tightened around the bouquet while Elijah focused on the front of the carriage.

Six heads were tied along the front like trophies — the heads of werewolves.

One of those heads was of a child no older than ten.

’....What?’

Elijah’s eyes shrank when he noticed it.

Yet a loud cheer erupted from all around him.

The doors slowly opened and Amaury stepped out.

He wore a black royal coat lined with silver fur.

His tall figure immediately drew every eye in the crowd.

Elijah didn’t think twice before he turned to look at Heather.

"Meet me at the old factory at the city walls, I will bring him there." He said, looking into her eyes. "Make sure no one is following you."

Heather nodded her head but she felt a feeling of uneasiness from Elijah.

Elijah didn’t give her any more attention as he shifted his focus to Amaury.

’I don’t feel any demigod here.’

He thought, his eyes looking around the premises.

’Huff, I need to keep my identity hidden as much as possible.’

Elijah turned his focus on the soldier closest to him.

With everyone’s attention on Amaury, he quickly walked behind the soldier.

Elijah raised his hand and tapped the back of the soldier’s neck.

A tiny burst of white mana slipped into the man’s body.

The soldier’s eyes rolled back for a brief second and then he collapsed.

People assumed he had fainted from excitement.

Elijah dragged his body back and pulled out his helmet and upper body armour and wore it.

Across the street Amaury was already walking along the red carpet.

He stopped to address his people and the cheering faded away.

"My people."

The crowd fell silent immediately.

Amaury looked across the thousands gathered before him.

"The world as we know will change."

Elijah didn’t bother listening to him as he raised his hand.

BOOMM!!!

He created an explosion in the air that rang throughout the city.

The crowd froze for a second before they erupted in chaos.

The cheering crowd scattered in every direction as soldiers rushed forward with their weapons drawn.

"What was that?!"

"Attack!"

"Protect the king!"

Elijah also rushed towards the king like the other royal guards as if he was going to protect him.

But as soon as he reached him, he immediately turned towards the closest soldier.

A quick punch to his face made him lose consciousness immediately.

"What—?"

Elijah grabbed the soldier, twisted his body and threw the body of the man at the second soldier with full force.

Bam!!

Their collision immediately made everyone alert.

"Someone’s here!"

Elijah didn’t waste his time and turned his focus on Amaury who was staring back at him.

He walked towards Amaury as three soldiers jumped in.

Elijah kept his eyes on Amaury while he dealt with them.

An elbow to the first man’s throat...

Crack!

...and the man dropped instantly.

Elijah grabbed the second soldier by the arm and twisted.

The bone snapped with a sickening sound.

Before the third guard could react, Elijah drove his knee into the man’s chest.

Bam!

The soldier flew backward into the platform railing.

Elijah grabbed the fallen sword from the soldier and stood in front of Amaury.

He placed the tip of the sword on his heart.

"Any last words?" Elijah said. "....My friend."

Amaury tilted his head.

"Are you going to kill me?"

"....."

Elijah didn’t reply but he applied pressure on his chest, prompting his shirt to soak with blood.

"I won’t ask again." Elijah said slowly.

Amaury smiled.

"What are you waiting for?"

Elijah drew out a breath and immediately pushed the sword into his chest....

But before he could, the hair on his body stood up.

BOOOOMMMM!!!!

[Himmel’s POV.]

"Hah."

I let out a soft sigh, staring at the night sky that looked a little more beautiful tonight.

The words Kaelia said before was still at the back of my mind but when I asked what she meant she refused to eloborate.

The girls were all having a girls’ night out, so I had to sleep alone. But because of the plans to steal the technique tonight, I stayed awake.

’Do we really have to do it tonight?’

[<The earlier the better.>]

’....Right.’

Epione still needed time to learn more about how to use the technique.

It’s better if she has more time to learn about it.

’By the way, Inna. How strong was the Argonian family during the time when Qaisel was alive?’

It had been bothering me for a long while.

Why were the families of Kandam not part of the Holy Wars?

It was clear that these families had all the strength in the world, yet they didn’t try to take over the world.

’....That doesn’t make any sense.’

[<Actually during that time, the Argonian family wasn’t the head of Kandam continent.>]

’They were not?’ I frowned as I asked her.

[<Yes, there was a family known as Kanakath the Sacred. The Oracle of that time was part of that family.>]

I frowned slightly as I listened to her.

’Kanakath... the Sacred?’

That name didn’t sound familiar at all.

’Why have I never heard about them before?’

The night wind moved softly across the balcony where I stood.

Inna remained silent for a moment before answering.

[<Because they were all removed from the history of Kandam and other continents didn’t record them as well.>]

I blinked.

’So they got extinct?’

[<Yes.>]

’How?’

[<They were betrayed by the four families that were their vessels.>]

I leaned slightly against the balcony railing as the wind brushed past my face.

’Vessels like they were part of the family but not completely?’

[<Yes, the Argonian family was one of those families.>]

I rubbed the back of my neck as I kept my eyes on the beautiful sky.

’Why were they betrayed by their vessel families?’

[<The head of the Kanakath family had grown so powerful that he declared himself a god.>]

I frowned hard when I heard it and before I could ask she continued.

[<But in a sense he wasn’t wrong. He was a reincarnation of a god with his memories sealed.>]

’....Which god?’

[<The God of wisdom, Odin.>]

’.....’

I kept my mouth shut when I heard the name.

It wasn’t a name I hadn’t heard before. In fact I had heard of it so many times I couldn’t count.

’....Who could possibly kill him?’

[<You.>] She replied. [<To be more precise, the previous you....Qaisel.>]

I rubbed my temples as I let out a tired sigh.

[<You did not kill him alone though. Alexander, a fragment soul of Adam, was with you.>]

’....I see.’

I nodded my head and looked up once again.

But this time someone stood in front of me.

Arawn bowed his head slightly as he spoke.

"I am ready, my lord."

I nodded my head and stretched my body before I said,

"Your job is to distract the demigods, mine is to steal the technique."

"Leave it to me." He said, his voice brimming with confidence.

Taking a deep breath, I rolled my shoulders as two wings unfolded behind my back.

I looked up at the sky and propelled myself into it.

---

It took us not more than two hours to cross two kingdoms before we reached the home of the Argonian family.

Floating above the sky, I looked down at the enormous castle.

Even from this height the place looked ridiculous.

The entire estate was surrounded by three layers of walls, each one glowing faintly with defensive runes that stretched across the stone like veins.

Towers stood at every corner, tall and sharp like spears pointing toward the sky.

’They are paranoid.’

[<Perhaps they are.>]

I could see hundreds of guards walking along the walls.

But that wasn’t the problem, I could take care of them.

’....’

My gaze shifted to the front of the castle where multiple carriages were placed.

I turned to my side where Arawn floated with a serious look on his face.

"....You feel it too, don’t you?" I asked, my voice dim.

"Yeah....."

He replied in a soft tone.

".....I sense thirteen demigods."
