Chapter 64: Reverse Summoned!
After quite some time, the spirit summoning circle finally shined brightly as a human silhouette slowly materialized behind Ryan, giving everyone present a domineering look the moment it appeared.
"So this is the atmosphere of the current era..." the thief-like Heroic Spirit muttered while observing the surroundings with interest.
The students immediately erupted into commotion.
"Omg! A Heroic Spirit!"
"But why does he look so suspicious?"
"Yeah... I can’t explain it, but this spirit definitely looks untrustworthy."
Most of the children stared at Ryan with astonishment.
After all, Heroic Spirits were considered extremely rare summons, and only a very small number of summoners ever managed to contract one successfully.
Volka, meanwhile, narrowed his eyes while examining the spirit carefully.
"Not bad," he commented.
"But for a Heroic Spirit, your aura feels strangely suspicious."
The Heroic Spirit awkwardly coughed while pretending not to hear that statement.
"Now then," Volka continued loudly, drawing everyone’s attention once more.
"Before this session ends and all of you leave to feed your summons something suitable to improve affinity, you will also witness something special as part of the cultural exchange program."
He then pointed toward Elder Gurath.
"You will now see how Barbarians summon their spirit companions, and unlike most races, their summoning methods are quite different."
Volka paused briefly before grinning slightly.
"Originally, I was supposed to wait until every class finished before allowing this demonstration, but thanks to a certain old man, I no longer care."
Some nearby instructors immediately whose hearing was great, understood he was indirectly complaining about Aurelius again.
"Now then, Gurath will take over from here." Volka said while stepping aside.
Gurath calmly walked forward.
"Unlike most races, barbarians do not commonly summon entities directly from the Spirit Realm. Our methods differ greatly from the traditional summoning systems used across the world." he began in his deep voice.
"As for beasts, after capturing and taming them, we possess our own methods to convert them into companions similar to the contracts formed through the Summoning Goddess."
The students listened carefully with visible curiosity.
"First, Bonjour will perform a familiar summoning so all of you can observe the difference between our methods and ordinary summoning."
Bonjour stepped forward confidently.
Then he looked toward the surrounding students with a slight smirk on his face.
Dark-orange energy immediately radiated from his body.
It was Arder, the unique power wielded by Barbarians.
Using that energy, Bonjour began drawing strange symbols across the ground with his hands.
The atmosphere around the summoning formation changed almost instantly.
A freezing chill spread through the surroundings as nearby moisture condensed into frost and ice.
"This, is a familiar summoning performed through Arder, because our energy remains more synchronized with nature itself, the environment naturally reacts when a summon approaches." Gurath explained calmly.
The students stared at the phenomenon with fascination.
Even Volka observed the process with interest.
However, after several moments passed, nothing appeared.
Then more time passed.
Still nothing happened.
Bonjour’s confident expression slowly became strange.
"...Why is it not arriving?" he muttered in confusion.
Even Elder Gurath looked slightly puzzled by the situation as Bonjour awkwardly stepped back from the summoning formation.
"Cough..." Gurath cleared his throat before speaking calmly.
"Let me explain a bit more before we attempt the process again. It seems Bonjour’s energy was somewhat depleted..."
"Haha! Where is your summon now, Bonjour?" Ryan immediately mocked him.
Behind Ryan, the thief-like Heroic Spirit looked utterly exhausted by the interaction.
It had already been forcefully dragged into a contract with this troublesome brat, and now it had to witness childish arguments as well.
’Damn it...’ the Heroic Spirit cursed inwardly.
’How can that old sword spirit be so absurdly strong? Just how ancient is he?’
The mere memory of that sword attack still made his soul ache.
"Don’t worry," Skyler added with the same enlightened expression he had been making ever since becoming a Saint.
"In the future, I can buy you a summon. For now, I can at least buy you dessert from the nearby ice."
"These little bastards...!" Bonjour gritted his teeth.
How was he supposed to know the summoning would suddenly fail?
Normally, the process worked perfectly fine.
"You should pray sincerely to Goddess Oõleru next time," Paul suggested seriously.
Meanwhile, Caelum stepped beside Bonjour and patted his shoulder sympathetically.
"It happens sometimes," he said in an unusually deep and understanding voice.
"Woof! It always happens, wooof!" Voomie added immediately while nodding her tiny head.
Sénior, meanwhile, still looked unable to fully process the fact that Bonjour had somehow failed at summoning.
However, at that exact moment, the same summoning symbols suddenly appeared beneath Bonjour’s feet once again.
Simultaneously, a thunderous roar erupted from Volka.
"A mere rat dares act without my permission?!"
BOOOOM!
Terrifying draconic pressure descended upon the entire area.
The atmosphere itself grew heavy as Volka’s aura interfered directly with the mysterious summoning process occurring near Bonjour.
The students instantly turned pale.
"Damn it! Why is there a dragon here?!" a shadowy humanoid figure suddenly cursed while appearing out of thin air.
Volka did not waste time speaking further.
He simply slashed his claw toward the intruder.
The surrounding mana instantly obeyed his will as a colossal draconic claw materialized in the sky and tore downward.
SLASH!
Deep crimson blood splattered across the ground as a massive wound opened across the shadowy figure’s chest.
"Fuck! The location changed!" the figure shouted while ignoring his injury entirely.
Instead, his focus remained fixed on the summoning phenomenon itself.
And before anyone could properly react, Bonjour vanished.
Alongside him, Caelum, who had still been patting his shoulder, disappeared as well.
The reverse summoning activated completely.
"It’s you..." Elder Gurath said coldly while staring directly at the shadowy figure.
"You know this rat?" Volka asked with narrowed eyes.
"I don’t particularly care, he will die either way."
A dangerous killing intent radiated from the Black Dragon.
"Please don’t interfere, allow me to kill him myself." Gurath replied calmly, even though he supported the king’s decision, he disliked the the other party enough to kill him.
Volka snorted but did not object immediately.
Instead, he crouched near the traces of ice left behind by the reverse summoning and carefully analyzed them.
"This energy..." he muttered as his expression slowly changed.
"It originates from the Kalar Snowy Mountain Range... no..."
His eyes widened slightly.
"This is from the Forbidden Zone of Old Ice."
Elder Gurath’s expression shifted as well.
"You don’t mean that location?" he asked seriously.
Volka remained silent for a moment.
Then, he slowly turned his head toward a particular direction within the school grounds.
More specifically, towards the dungeon where the Outer God incident had previously occurred.
