Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1478: Bardmon City Part 8
Edward Sandoval didn’t overexplain himself nor address the issues over his son’s deed in the Divine World.
Instead, he reminded everyone that the Divine World was ultimately still a video game.
How could people possibly use real-world logic on a video game?
Tax evasion???
Oh, please, who the hell designed that?
When did people need to pay taxes on a video game?
"The losses you all sustained will soon be recovered once the government makes an official statement." Edward calmly said. He had long notified the higher-ups of the issues and made sure to do enough damage control.
As for the media, no major news outlet would report this.
The only reason it was making waves was because of the smaller news outlet that continuously talked about it.
’Right, and the Divine News...’ Edward couldn’t understand why the Divine News would still broadcast the incident when he had already given them a greeting in advance.
While Edward was definitely going to ask them about the situation, the Divine News were currently in turmoil.
Divine News, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Office...
"Can I ask why the two of you still mention the tax evasion topic when your superiors had specifically told you not to?" The CFO, Calvin, asked the two female anchors.
The two female anchors were none other than Cute Joy and Little Honey. They had their heads lowered as they fidgeted with their fingers.
"The notices were late..." Cute Joy explained.
"By the time we received it, we were already discussing the topic." Little Honey chimed in.
"If we were to end it abruptly, our ratings would tank, and viewers wouldn’t place their trust in us anymore."
Upon hearing how the ratings had indeed soared, the aspect of credibility was raised.
Calvin was rendered speechless. He couldn’t possibly scold them too harshly because of how popular they were with the audiences.
In fact, the ratings after their exposure of the incident gained numerous praises.
Moreover, they were even praised for being one of the few righteous who feared nobody in reporting factual news.
"As much as I want to praise you, I cannot do that for the sake of your future here," Calvin said in a defeated sigh. "The president is actually supportive of this, but the other shareholders who have ties with Razor Technology were quite dissatisfied. Hence, they told me to summon you two to my office."
As CFO, his reputation was well-known as someone who fiercely criticized anyone who brought harm to the company’s interests and values.
To outsiders, to be summoned into his office had a high probability of having done something bad.
Cute Joy nodded her head in understanding.
"Should we open the door so your voice could reverberate throughout the area?" She suggested.
"We can also fake cry as if it’s real." Little Honey said and demonstrated live on how tears seeped through the corner of her eyes.
These were their specialty: to cry on the spot without any warning or signs.
Calvin was rendered speechless by their responses. He had thought he needed to pacify them somewhat to ensure they wouldn’t feel any resentment toward the company.
After all, the statistics had proven that these two were valuable assets to the Divine News.
’So many advertisement deals and they only want Cute Joy and Little Honey for it. What can I do?’ Calvin thought bitterly. These advertisement deals are worth a lot of money and would boost their annual revenue by more than 8%.
A few seconds later, Cute Joy inquired, "So should you be yelling at us now?"
"Of course..." Calvin cleared his throat. He retrieved his phone, confusing the two for a brief moment.
Soon, he played a recording, and his furious scolding voice immediately resounded.
"ARE YOU NUTS?"
"HOW DARE YOU COMPROMISE THE COMPANY’S INTERESTS!"
A series of loud shouting continued on, startling both Cute Joy and Little Honey.
They glanced at each other and used their eyes to communicate.
’The CFO actually has a scolding recording on standby?’
’No wonder there were rumors that the CFO might be illiterate for yelling the same thing.’
When they tilted their heads again and saw Calvin playing some games on his computer, their expressions of him had changed.
Was this really the fearsome CFO who would hound anyone for causing the company to lose some money?
Or maybe this was him in reality when innocents were unfortunately involved and got sent to him for a lecture.
Alas, Cute Joy and Little Honey both knew that they were indeed a bit guilty.
They had acted on behalf of OneManMedia’s order to report the news to assist their Guild Leader.
The notices didn’t arrive late or anything, but they simply chose to be blind and pretend there was none until the news was reported.
While they were confused, Calvin calmly said, "Once the recording reaches the get out, you may leave."
A few minutes later, the "GET OUT!" resounded, and the two prepared to leave.
However, before they could turn the doorknob to open it, Calvin kindly advised. "Next time, if you plan on reporting something, you should just do it quickly. Don’t even let the notices have the chance to reach the studio. But make sure that the reporting remains factual and beneficial to the company."
It was only then that the two realized Calvin had long known about their deeds.
They weren’t slick or anything, but mainly because Calvin also did the same thing as they did.
He turned a blind eye to the incident because it was beneficial.
Their previous impression of him not being a scary person quickly changed 180 degrees again.
Without hesitation, the two bowed their heads and left the office immediately.
As the two reached a safe spot, they hurriedly reported the issue to OneManMedia.
"Hmm, I see... I’ve already anticipated that, but it’s alright. The fact that Calvin didn’t pursue the issues meant he had no intention of exposing you." Wei Xing, aka OneManMedia’s voice, resounded from the phone call.
"The Guild Leader is currently preparing to head toward the defense border at Bardmon City. The two of you should log into the Divine World and head over there for an exclusive broadcast. Consider this a repayment to their company."
