Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1508: End of Colossuses Part 1
The Royal Court was stunned when they realized Olivia had arrived at the court.
To those unaware, Olivia was someone who rarely attended the court unless something major was about to be decided.
It became the norm and something many nobles feared.
Why was that?
The last time Olivia attended the court, many nobles lost their lives under the words she had spoken.
The crimes?
Corruption, illegal drugs, human trafficking, and many more that had crossed the limits.
Either way, the nobles all feared Olivia’s presence, no matter where.
Meanwhile, Olivia ignored the nobles’ glances and bowed slightly to the emperor.
"Your Majesty, Bardmon City is safe because of this person here." She said and gestured for Xu Feng to step forward.
"Viscount Lin Feng bravely confronted the Tier 4 Demon Lord and promptly helped evacuate civilians from the city to safety alongside the City Magistrate, Kong Ming."
Xu Feng bowed his head in response and greeted the emperor respectfully.
He didn’t speak up because he hadn’t received permission to do so, but that didn’t stop the other nobles from gossiping.
"Viscount Lin Feng saved Bardmon City?"
"But wasn’t he the one accused of treason?"
"Could this be some kind of conspiracy?"
The nobles found it hard to believe that Xu Feng had made such a meritorious contribution, especially when he was just accused of being a traitor.
"Silenced!" Emperor Aether said sternly. Since Olivia had personally said it herself, he didn’t doubt the statement.
Olivia was never someone to cover a criminal for her personal gain. If she had spoken up about it, then it only meant that Xu Feng had indeed proven himself not guilty.
Moreover, Aether had heard of Kong Ming’s reputation before.
The citizens in Bardmon City only had praise for him and little to no criticism. In fact, the criticism aspect was created by the nobles who wished to rope Kong Ming into their clique but failed miserably.
Once the crowd turned silent, Aether signaled for the royal steward to proclaim his decree.
The royal steward immediately stepped forward once he received the signal.
"Upon the meritorious deed of Viscount Lin Feng, the previous accusation in court had been proven to be slanderous. If anyone else dared to accuse a meritorious noble again in the empire, they would be suspended and investigated." Once the royal steward finished reciting the decree, he waited patiently.
The atmosphere was silent as they understood what the royal steward was waiting for.
They glanced at each other collectively, their eyes silently communicating.
Since the emperor had made his statement clear, if they continued to go against Xu Feng, that would be equivalent to treason.
Who dared to go against the emperor’s wish?
"We adhere to the decree!" The nobles came to a consensus and lowered their heads slightly.
Xu Feng remained motionless until he received a slight jab to the side of his stomach from Olivia.
With that jab, he also lowered his head slowly.
The royal steward was satisfied with the scene. As long as no one dared to disobey the royal decree, he would have completed his assignment.
He retreated to the side and bowed to the emperor with utmost respect.
Aether waved his hand lightly and pondered how to reward Xu Feng.
’Based on the information, this person is the type to take everything if given the chance. Greed isn’t bad, but the current situation doesn’t allow me to be spendthrift.’ Aether never realized he would one day be placed in a predicament by a Tier 2 Immortal.
No, he wasn’t just any regular Tier 2 Immortal.
Compared to the others, this one was different because he had clearly been baptized and was also shrouded in a mysterious power. Moreover, Aether could detect that there was a powerful pet concealed within him.
Baptized and filled with mystery, alongside the fact that he controlled the Arcane Vein, which contributed a lot to their military development, Aether was truly flabbergasted.
"Viscount Lin Feng, what do you desire?" Aether no longer racked his brain and decided to ask him directly.
He thought that with the latter greedy mindset, they might request lands, money, or some power.
But to his dismay, Xu Feng didn’t request any of that.
"Your Majesty, I desire the end of colossuses!" Xu Feng replied in a solemn tone.
"The end of colossuses?" Aether was somewhat taken aback. That was everyone’s desire to end them and repel their invasion.
However, saying it was easier than trying to achieve the goal.
The casualties had risen to a high number, but they remained helpless.
Why was that?
The colossus was a bunch of sneaky individuals who rarely showed their faces to be assassinated—the ones who were the actual commanders, and not those who walked on the open streets.
The other nobles also sneered coldly. They thought Xu Feng was being fake and trying his best to earn the emperor’s good grace.
Even Olivia couldn’t help but be skeptical of his intention.
’As expected, they all didn’t know the Colossuses were coming to an end.’ He mused inwardly.
"Your Majesty, I know a few strategies to end them, but I don’t dare to speak in here." He said softly, his eyes gazing at the surroundings.
Whichever person he gazed at, they would immediately snort and flash a hostile stare.
After all, none of them was a fool to not understand the implication behind his words.
He was saying that they weren’t trustworthy and that he wished to speak in a private setting.
"Your Majesty, I believe Viscount Lin Feng must have exhausted himself from the battle and isn’t in his right mind."
"The Count is correct. To fight such a prolonged battle must have drained one’s mentality. The Viscount should have ample rest before coming to court."
"I concur!"
Soon, all the nobles requested Xu Feng to retreat from the court hearing and to come at another time. Of course, the more critical saying was to tell him to scram.
The only reason their words were polite was attributed to his recent merits and the subsequent royal decree.
