Chapter 19: You fucking kidding me?

The black luxury car came to a smooth stop near the quiet cemetery.

Before the engine completely died, one of the guards was already outside. He hurried around the vehicle and opened the door respectfully.

Henry stepped out without saying a word. He was still dressed in his dark suit from earlier, his silver mask hiding the upper half of his face. The afternoon breeze brushed against his clothes as he stood there for a moment, holding a bouquet of white lilies in one hand.

The guards automatically stayed behind.

This was one of the few places where nobody followed him.

The cemetery was peaceful and quiet. Far away from reporters, business rivals, shareholders, and family members who constantly demanded things from him.

Henry walked along the familiar path. The workers maintaining the cemetery recognised him immediately and greeted him politely, but nobody dared approach him.

Soon, he stopped before a beautiful grave. Fresh flowers surrounded it.

White roses. Lilies.Tulips. Different colors carefully arranged around the marble stone.

It was obvious somebody visited often. Henry crouched down and placed his flowers beside the others.

For a long moment, he remained silent. His gaze settled on the smiling woman in the picture. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

A beautiful woman with gentle eyes. The resemblance between her and Henry was impossible to miss.

Especially the eyes. He reached forward and brushed away a few specks of dust that had settled on the frame.

Then he simply stared for a while. The same way he had done every year. The same way he always did whenever he came here.

Eventually, he released a quiet sigh. It was neither sadness nor regret. Just exhaustion. The kind carried by a man who had spent years carrying responsibilities he never asked for.

After another moment, he stood. He adjusted his suit jacket and prepared to leave.

"Wow." A cheerful female voice suddenly came from behind him.

"You really came."

Henry didn’t need to turn around. He already knew who it was. "When did you come back?" he asked.

Only then did he glance over his shoulder. A young lady stood several meters away holding a bouquet.

She looked barely twenty, so beautiful and elegant.

Her bright smile made her appear younger than she actually was. Unlike Henry’s cold appearance, she looked warm and approachable.

The young woman laughed. "Not long ago."

She lifted the flowers. "I came directly here."

Henry nodded once. The girl walked toward the grave comfortably, completely unaffected by his intimidating presence.

She stopped beside him and smiled at the picture.

"Hi, Mom," she said softly. The young woman carefully placed her flowers beside Henry’s. For a moment, neither sibling spoke.

Then she suddenly looked sideways. "Congratulations on your marriage."

Henry’s expression remained unchanged.

The girl immediately laughed. "You really got married, wow... who is the lucky girl?"

Henry suddenly thought Grandmother paid someone to spread fake rumours. He nodded and began walking away.

The young woman stared at his back in amusement. "You aren’t even denying it! Hey!Henry!"

The man doesn’t even turn back or pause. Alan smiled in disbelief. "He really got married?"

The girl folded her arms dramatically. " Who is the unlucky girl?" she murmured as she watched him disappear down the path with his guards.

The young woman watched him leave before shaking her head.

Then she turned back toward the grave. A grin appeared on her face. " You see it, Mom." She crouched down. "Your first son hasn’t changed at all."

She giggled. "He still acts as if somebody owes him money."

The wind rustled the flowers surrounding the grave. The young woman smiled. "Grandmother almost cried after seeing the certificate."

She paused. "Actually... she definitely cried."

"Everyone is curious about my mysterious sister-in-law."

She rested her chin on her knee."I am too." A thoughtful look appeared on her face. "I wonder what kind of woman managed to marry him."

Then she laughed. "Or maybe she was tricked." The young woman stayed there for several more minutes before standing.

...

Meanwhile.

Across the city. Abigail was having a terrible day.

She had spent the entire morning buried under paperwork. The collaboration between Nik’s Company and HDM had exploded across social media overnight.

Investors, partners, and journalists were calling. Even competitors were calling. Everyone suddenly wanted something from her. By lunchtime, Abigail already had a headache.

By afternoon, she wanted to throw her phone into the ocean.

And now...

She had another problem. A potentially dangerous one. Miranda had called her twenty minutes ago, sounding unusually nervous.

"Boss. The anonymous assistant candidate came. You need to see him."

The memory alone made Abigail suspicious. She trusted Miranda’s judgment. If Miranda looked worried, something was definitely wrong.

This explained why Abigail had abandoned her work and rushed downstairs immediately.

Her heels clicked rapidly against the floor as she crossed the lobby. Several employees greeted her respectfully.

She nodded absentmindedly. Her mind was already busy imagining possibilities. Maybe the mysterious candidate was secretly working for a competitor.

Maybe he was using a fake identity. Maybe he was some genius programmer. Or perhaps a middle-aged expert hiding from the public.

The more she thought about it, the more curious she became. Soon, she reached the reception area.

The receptionist immediately stood. "President Abigail."

Abigail nodded. "Where is he?"

The receptionist pointed toward the waiting area.

Abigail turned and froze immediately, her expectation shattered. Because the person sitting there looked painfully familiar.

The man sat comfortably with one leg crossed over the other.

A neatly trimmed beard.

Broad shoulders. Simple expensive suit. Annoyingly handsome face. And the same irritating expression she remembered.

For several seconds, Abigail genuinely thought she was hallucinating.

Then the man looked up, and their eyes met. His expression brightened immediately.

As though seeing her had made his entire day.

Which only made everything worse. Abigail stared at him in disbelief.

The man was trying hard not to smile at the situation. Meanwhile, Abigail’s brain was busy questioning every life decision that had led to this moment.

She closed her eyes and opened them again. "Are you fucking kidding me?" she whispered to herself.
