Chapter 42: won’t be gentle

After finally reaching the car, Abigail leaned back against the seat and started breathing heavily. Her chest rose and fell fast, and a strange heat spread through her whole body.

Whatever had been done to her was now taking over completely. The feeling had grown stronger ever since she kissed Henry at the dinner table. It was like fire running through her veins, making it hard to think straight or sit still. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

She tried to fight it, but her strength was fading quickly. Unable to bear the overwhelming sensation any longer, she collapsed onto the back seat.

The world around her felt blurry and distant. Even though the car was moving, she could faintly hear the driver talking on the phone. "She has collapsed," the driver said to whoever was on the other end. The words floated in her mind but did not fully register.

Not long after, she felt strong arms lift her carefully from the car. "Henry?" she murmured weakly, reaching up to touch the person’s face. Her fingers brushed against warm skin and the edge of that familiar lace mask.

The man stopped walking for a moment and let out a deep sigh. "You can even recognise me in your dream?" His voice was low and slightly amused, but there was concern hidden underneath.

Hearing that familiar tone, Abigail’s body surprisingly calmed down. She stopped struggling and let him carry her without resistance.

For some reason she could not explain, she trusted him completely, even though she knew what might happen next. Deep down, she swore to herself that she would take revenge on Selena for this. That woman had clearly gone too far. She doesn’t know why she’s still alive after what she had done for her.

Oliver said the culprit is Selena, and Henry knew about it. Why would he even act nice to her after all that she had done for her? he even let her touch him like that! She had never seen someone as difficult and annoying as Henry!

Henry placed her gently on a soft, comfortable bed. He stood there for a moment, looking down at her with another heavy sigh.

"I’m afraid we are about to make the third mistake," he said quietly, almost to himself.

Abigail gently opened her eyes, but everything still looked blurry. She could only see a hazy version of him standing over her.

She had heard stories about this kind of underworld drug before. It had no cure yet, and it was designed to turn even the most stubborn person into a slave to desire.

It was obvious that Selena really wanted to destroy her, just like she had threatened. The thought made Abigail angry.

What if they had successfully kidnapped her instead? What would have happened then? But right now, all she could focus on was her short-term husband, Henry. She reached out and pulled him closer. To her surprise, he bent down willingly.

There was something about this man she could never fully understand. Henry was very difficult to read.

Sometimes he was cold and distant, other times sarcastic and sharp. And then there were moments like this, where he seemed almost gentle. She swallowed hard as she stared at his lips.

"Why are you always wearing that mask?" she whispered.

Henry chuckled deeply, the sound vibrating through his chest. "Are you sure you want to know?" he asked, his voice low and teasing.

Abigail smiled and slowly reached up to remove his mask. Her vision was still blurry, but she could see enough. Those piercing blue eyes surprised her. How could a man have such beautiful yet dangerous eyes? They looked so familiar, like she had seen them somewhere before.

"I’ve seen those eyes before?" she murmured, confused.

"Definitely," Henry replied. He caught her hand as it moved across his smooth face. He hated how strongly his body responded to her touch. It was rare for him to feel this way.

He pinned her hands above her head gently and sighed. "Listen, you should reduce going to your company until you are okay. Unless you want to commit something that will haunt you forever." His warning was serious, but Abigail felt almost crazy with need.

She freed herself from his hold and started undressing him by herself, as if another person had completely taken over her body. Her movements were bold and urgent.

Henry sighed again, but this time he took control. He leaned down and kissed her deeply. This was probably the only time she would listen to him anyway.

Abigail quickly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back with equal passion. The kiss felt familiar, reminding her of their past night together, or maybe something she couldn’t find answers to for now.

It made her wonder again about their complicated situation and what this all really meant.

Henry’s hands moved carefully as he began undressing her. "Min Ho caught the doctor who produced the drug, and he will come to check on you tomorrow," he told her between kisses. With his skilled fingers, he unhooked her bra and released her breasts, which bounced free in the cool air of the room.

The moment felt intense and full of mixed emotions. Abigail’s body burned with the effects of the drug, but her mind still held onto small sparks of anger toward Selena and curiosity about Henry.

He was a mystery she could not solve, yet in this moment she felt strangely safe with him. The night had taken another unexpected turn, pulling them closer in ways neither of them had fully planned.

The heat between them grew stronger. Henry’s touch was careful but filled with clear desire. His fingers traced her skin slowly, sending sparks through her body that mixed with the fire from the drug.

Abigail arched toward him, her hands pulling at his shirt as she tried to get closer. She could feel his heartbeat against her chest, fast and strong.

Every kiss made her forget a little more about the anger and the pain from earlier. For now, there was only the warmth of his body, the taste of his lips, and the way his hands explored her like he was memorising every curve.

The room felt hotter with each passing second. Their breaths mixed as the moment became more intense...

" I don’t think I will be gentle this time", he suddenly said.
