Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 423: I Can’t Learn How to Let Go 6
The smile on Annabelle Linton’s lips deepened, and she opened the door without a second thought. Leona Grant was standing outside, his gaze burning as he stared at her.
Annabelle Linton froze, mainly because she truly hadn’t expected him to be there.
Leona Grant wore a black, tailor-made, slim-fit suit, a crisp white shirt, and diamond cufflinks. Every button was meticulously fastened, the suit without a single wrinkle—he was as detached, severe, and ruthless as ever.
He possessed an untouchable, lofty nobility, and his every move carried an innate dignity and the aura of a king.
The moment Annabelle Linton saw him, her eyes instantly turned cold. Her first reaction was, ’He’s fucking here to start something!’
Then, without a second thought, she tried to slam the door shut.
A sharp glint flashed in Leona Grant’s eyes. He forced the door open, stopping her from closing it, and demanded coldly, "Why won’t you let me in?"
As he spoke, he glanced past her and saw the room in complete disarray. His heart clenched.
He immediately pushed his way inside. Seeing the suitcases and clothes in the living room, he whipped his head around, his voice rising uncontrollably as he demanded, "Where are you going?"
Annabelle Linton frowned at him, her lips pursing into a thin, indifferent line. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"Answer me! Where are you going?!"
Although he knew she would leave eventually, he just couldn’t stay calm seeing this.
’She’s leaving...’
’Leaving...’
’She’s leaving with another man!’
Annabelle Linton pressed a hand to her aching head, speechless. "Leona Grant, can you please act normal for once?"
’Is he insane? Barging in here uninvited... Where I’m going has absolutely nothing to do with him.’
"Answer me!" Leona Grant growled, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at her.
He had tried to hypnotize himself countless times, telling himself it was for the best that she was leaving.
But in the instant he saw her now, his mind was consumed with a single thought: she was leaving. The woman who had been by his side for so many years was leaving him.
Once she was gone, there would be nothing left to hold onto. She was leaving in a way that meant she would never come back.
She had already sold off the inheritance her grandfather had left her, leaving nothing behind. She had even sold the apartment she once lived in.
’She’s really, truly determined to leave...’
’If she leaves, what will I do?’
Annabelle Linton was growing impatient. After watching him expressionlessly for a moment, she said coldly, "Where I go has nothing to do with you."
"Nothing to do with me?"
Leona Grant looked at her indifferent expression and felt as if a knife were carving out his flesh, piece by piece. The pain was suffocating.
He also wished he could get along with her like Aaron Wyatt did, to communicate with her properly. But the two of them were like fire and water. Apart from having loved each other once, they had absolutely no common ground or shared interests, did they?
He had just been discussing a partnership with a client. After the meeting, the client had unexpectedly asked him out of the blue, "Young Master Grant, are you and your wife having a disagreement?"
Then, just as bafflingly, he’d tried to offer some advice.
It took him a moment to realize the client was talking about Annabelle Linton. Then he asked what was wrong.
The client said he’d seen Annabelle Linton sell the suburban villa her grandfather had left her and asked if there was some trouble in their relationship. Only then did he realize something was afoot and begin to investigate.
Sure enough, he found their flight tickets. Hers and Aaron Wyatt’s, for the day after tomorrow.
’Are they planning to go to Albion after the engagement ceremony, only to return one last time before leaving for good?’
’I thought I’d have at least another month to secretly watch her.’
’It would be just as hard to let her go then, but at least it would have been a buffer, wouldn’t it?’
