Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss
Chapter 924 - 898: Why Does It Sound So Strange?
In the spirit of being a mischievous friend and following the international code of ’better them than me,’ Qian and Xiaoqiang both think it’s fine to let Mr. Yu handle it. Qian even pats her belly.
"Our daughter is blessed."
"Of course, she must be blessed!" Xiaoqiang doesn’t even understand what Grandpa was thinking when he named her.
Qian is already eagerly rummaging through the jewelry box, "I remember there’s a good luck charm, jade is good for pregnancy. Later, I’ll ask my uncle to engrave a few words on it for Yiri, Yu Yiri!"
What a bold and refreshing name!
"There’s no rush to engrave. Come on, let’s study how to serve the country by giving birth first."
Yu Minglang grabs Qian and quickly walks to the room. The door closes, and the moment to witness the miracle of childbirth begins...
On the window seat, the penguin [messenger] that hasn’t been shut down yet keeps buzzing with notifications.
Jade Stone: Boss Qian, are you there?
Boss Qian is quite busy at the moment, and the tightly closed bedroom door muffles the notification sounds.
Meanwhile, Yiri is at home getting ready to shut down her computer.
Her mother-in-law was overjoyed upon hearing about her pregnancy and went back to share the good news. Second Brother planned to hand over work tasks in the next few days to accompany her back to Q City; the next few months before school starts are perfect for focusing on the pregnancy at the Yu Family home.
Upon hearing the door open, Yiri flinched, realizing it was too late to shut down her computer. She bent over to pull the plug directly.
"Pulling the power plug isn’t good for the computer."
Second Brother’s cool voice rang out from the hallway.
Yiri, not knowing why she even tried, stood dumbfounded, trying to shield the glowing, open q [messenger] on the computer with her body.
"Are you insulting a pilot’s eyesight?"
"I, I, I was actually looking up prenatal care tips online!"
"Beep Beep Beep!" The message alert from the penguin messenger rang clearly through the speakers. Yiri, with her back to the keyboard, attempted to turn it off with one hand, accidentally hitting a large key. Before she could close it, the web video’s theme song resonated exuberantly, fitting her current mood perfectly.
"I should be under the car, not in the car!"
Oh, she should really be under the computer desk, not in front of it!
Second Brother walked over, sighed, seeing Yiri’s guilty and cautious expression, then gently pulled her a bit aside. He then went over, shut down the computer, and as it was going off, Jade Stone’s chat box popped up.
Jade Stone: Yiri, are you there?
While shutting down, Second Brother quickly typed two words, "Not here."
Shutdown, perfect!
"Was someone looking for me... um!" Yiri initially wanted to stretch her neck to take a look, but Second Brother’s gaze swept over, and she instinctively shrank back, lowering her head like a child admitting fault.
Second Brother sat beside her, speaking earnestly.
"Didn’t I tell you to rest early?"
"I can’t sleep..."
"Didn’t the doctor say to be extra careful during the first few months?"
"Um, surfing the web a little shouldn’t be a problem, right?" Yiri carefully argued. The icy expression of Mr. Yu truly seemed refreshing.
"No, the doctor did mention that you need to sleep early, and prolonged sitting online isn’t good for your health either."
Seeing that he seemed serious about advising her, Yiri felt troubled. How could she have thought Second Brother didn’t want kids at first? He probably cares even more than she does.
In a flash of inspiration, Yiri yawned, and seeing that Second Brother thought she was sleepy, he didn’t continue and softly warned.
"If you want to play during the day, you can play a little, but at night, no more playing. From now on, you have to sleep by 9 PM sharp. If I’m not home, I’ll ask the family to keep an eye on you."
"No need... isn’t that a bit much?" Yiri, accustomed to staying up late and waking early, found it tough to change her routine.
Second Brother said nothing, merely watching her silently with his cooling gaze. Yiri surrendered immediately, raising the white flag.
"You’re right in everything!"
"Hmm, I’ll join you to sleep." Second Brother, a man of action, followed through with his word.
"Aren’t you going to wash up?"
"I’ll watch you fall asleep first, and if you don’t fall asleep, I’ll stay with you."
Ah! Yiri felt despair, and to let him rest early, she could only obediently close her eyes and fall into a deep slumber under his gentle watch.
After Yiri fell asleep, Second Brother kissed her cheek, then went to their son’s room to see the already slumbering Panpan, tucking him in before heading to wash up.
As for Shi Tou reaching out to Yiri... Second Brother thought addressing it the following day would be just fine.
However, the next morning, Second Brother was urgently called back to his unit, becoming so absorbed in work that he forgot. Yiri, feeling guilty about being caught staying up late online, didn’t dare go back on the internet, missing that message.
The entire night, Shi Tou sat on the roof of her villa, hugging her laptop, waiting sadly.
Is no one really there...
Her two best friends, one avatar is gray, and the other is online but not responding, and neither answers the phone.
Why is there no one to accompany her on a night when she desperately wants to vent?
Her phone rang, and seeing the caller ID, Shi Tou quickly wiped away her tears, cleared her throat, and restored her composure before answering the call.
"Honey, what are you doing, why aren’t you asleep yet?" Qiao Zhen’s gentle voice sounded even more magnetic in the empty night.
Hearing his voice, Shi Tou felt wronged and wanted to pour her heart out, but she couldn’t, only pretending to sound relaxed.
"What else could I be doing, reading comics."
"Why does your voice sound a bit off?" Qiao Zhen immediately sensed something was wrong with Shi Tou’s voice.
This kind of caring attention is even more heartbreaking on this lonely and helpless night, Shi Tou almost cried, but bit her lip and held it in.
"I’m fine, maybe I caught a cold eating ice cream."
"Get some rest early, and don’t eat so many cold things. Honey, there’s something I need to tell you... I..." Qiao Zhen hesitated, "I might not be able to come back for the summer and host the reception, I got a work assignment, have to go on a business trip. We might need to postpone the wedding... I’m sorry!"
He had made up his mind to make this call, ready for his wife to reprimand him. With the whole family having prepared for so long, and less than a month away, saying this truly felt irresponsible.
"It’s alright, I understand." Shi Tou sighed in relief as she said it, realizing her current state really isn’t suitable for marriage.
"I’m sorry..." In all sincerity, Qiao Zhen could only utter these three words, feeling immensely guilty toward her.
For now, Yu Minglang is at a point where he needs help, wishing to expand his career here for a few more years, facing separation from his beloved wife, feeling guilty, yet helpless.
